The work we did over the past season has paid off! We still have much more to do in the way of improving playability, but as I type this letter, we are off the cart paths two days after a 3” rain event! In the coming weeks we will begin a tree removal project on the right side of 18 that will drastically improve our ability to grow grass and help with playability by eliminating shade that keeps the fairway and right side of the hole from drying out in a timely manner, especially during the winter months
Our new nursery is doing great and we have begun to harvest sod as needed Over the next couple of weeks leaf removal will be the priority as most of our leaves have now fallen We will then begin work on the many broken drains throughout the course with a goal of finishing them all prior to the upcoming golf season
As we wrap up the year our crew is looking forward to some much needed time with their families over the holiday season We would like to wish all of you a very happy and safe holidays! We truly appreciate all of your support and we look forward to another great year to come!
Cold weather should not detour you from playing golf There are a few keys to enjoying the game even though it may be cold Here are some suggestions:
Stretch, Stretch, and Stretch: It is important to stretch before playing golf anytime of the year; however, in the winter months it is imperative On the first tee or at the practice range, spend a few minutes doing some golf stretches An easy stretch to do to improve your shoulder turn is to put a golf club behind your back and between arms, bend from the waist slightly and slowly rotate your shoulders level as if you are making a backswing and a forward swing This will make that first tee shot much more comfortable!
Layering for warmth is much better than a single bulky jacket The thinner clothing material, layered, allows for better movement Layering also enables you to take off or add a little at a time if you get warm or cold Try using toboggans for the head, vests for the chest, and pocket warmers for the hands Keeping these parts of the body warm will help you enjoy the round Take more club than usual to hit that shot and maybe even play a tee box forward The ball will not travel as far during the winter, so don’t be afraid to club up or move up If you try to hit the same shots you’d hit during the middle of the summer, you ’ re in for a long day Try exchanging your golf balls to a softer version For example, play Trufeel rather than ProV’s or SuperSoft rather than Chromesoft It’s difficult to compress the golf ball in the colder environment The softer material allows for better compression Lastly, try a hot totty, coffee, or hot chocolate from the friendly beverage cart girl or Smokehouse
MIX AND CHILL INGREDIENTS. POUR INTO A RED SUGAR RIMMED MARTINI GLASS. GARNISH WITH A CANDY CANE HANGING ON THE RIM.
