Paige | VP of Club OperationsHi Kingsmill Members,
We appreciate all the Members who participated in great August programming around the club, as we hosted our August Member Mixer, Trivia Nights, Summer Movie at The Pool, Crafts at The River Pool, and live music around the property I'd like to thank our entire Kingsmill team for putting together a great calendar of events and executing them proudly We’ve been working on fixing a leak at The Lazy River, and understand it hasn’t been fun to work around We estimated that we were losing roughly 650,000 gallons of water per day - it had to be fixed! Improvements and renovations at the Indoor Pool and Fitness Center are coming along, and we are excited as those projects get closer to completion
Did you know that our Woods Bunker sand project added over 705 tons of new sand to the golf course?
September is a great time of year around the club as summer begins to wind down and the fall season comes into focus. Back to school, football, and cooler temperatures are not that far away! Come to The Marina to check out our new pontoon boat and jet skis, and get in one last summer ride! We are excited for our programming this month to include a great Labor Day Weekend at The River Pool with crafts and live music, Paint & Wine night, September Member Mixer, and a new Kingsmill Bar Crawl! We hope you can relax and enjoy the programming at The Club with your friends and families.
Thank you for being a Member, James Paige

Dear Kingsmill Members!
I am so excited to be writing my first note to all of you as I close out my first week here at Kingsmill! As a resident of our community and a Member, I could not think of a better way to spend my days than by seeing my friends and neighbors, getting to know those of you whom I haven’t met, and sharing the magic of Membership with our prospective Members.
My wife, Jessica, and our two children, Claire (11) and Pelham VI (5) moved here about seven years ago and instantly fell in love with Kingsmill Afterward, we joined The Club and couldn’t imagine that more fun and fellowship could be had in our community. Most of our time recreating is spent within the gates, whether it’s spending time on the trails, playing in the River Pool, or having dinner at one of our restaurants with friends and family
After retiring from over 20 years in law enforcement, I realized I was not ready to stop serving others Taking on this role at The Club allows me to serve all of you and strive to ensure you receive the best service and experience possible. Please do not hesitate to reach out anytime if I can be of service to you. I look forward to seeing you around The Club!
All the best, Pelham

September is upon us, and fall is right around the corner. As we prepare to enter fall, we will be raising our height of cut on the Bermudagrass This will allow for it to go into the cool Fall mornings, and eventually frost with more leaf tissue and will make for a stronger plant as it prepares to end its growing season.
The fall requires a few different chemical applications for our Bermudagrass One of our annual processes is our fall pre-emergent herbicide Applying this will help to mitigate some of the winter annual weed pressure, specifically Poa Annua. We will also be making two fungicide applications to the tees, fairways, collars, and approaches to treat Spring Dead Spot (SDS). Though SDS is only noticeable in the spring, the fungus is active and causes damage in the fall Applying the fungicide before the disease has an opportunity to take off will substantially reduce the amount of SDS we will see in the spring.
Fall Potassium applications will be done as well. Potassium allows the plant to build up reserves of carbohydrates and other nutrients it will need to survive the winter Potassium will also help to protect the plant from frost damage.
Greens aerification and topdressing will be coming up at the end of September into October. This will allow us to relieve some stress on the greens while encouraging root growth with cooler weather Though this practice can be temporarily disruptive, it is essential in keeping our putting surfaces in great condition.
Thank you for your support and for being a Member of The Club at Kingsmill!
We all know how challenging it can be coming up the last 3 holes of the River Course and the wind is gusting 15-20 mph or more off the James River. A great shot you can play to keep your ball under the wind is the knockdown shot. Here’s how to execute the knockdown shot:
1 Make sure to go up a club, as you will only be making a ¾ swing Depending on how strong the wind is, you may have to go up two clubs or more
2. At address, play the ball slightly back in your stance and move your weight slightly forward to your front foot.
3 As you make your ¾ backswing keep the weight slightly forward on the front foot
4. Through impact keep the logo of your glove pointing at the target and make an abbreviated followthrough.
Thank you for taking the time to read our Golf Tips for September. We look forward to seeing you on the course!

August was a busy month, traveling and looking at many Spring 2024 lines I am excited at what I have seen and can't wait to see it all come together in just a few short months!
We have a Starting wi
Open Watc .
You get to meet and play with the William & Mary players and watch world-class tennis.
The Kingsmill Tennis Association will then host a Mixer on Saturday, September 17, from 4 PM - 6 PM Followed by the Women's Charity Tennis Classic on September 19 and the Men's Charity Tournament later in the month These events have grown in popularity every year and raise funds for great causes.
Meanwhile, our Shop Supervisor, Julia, continues to create playing opportunities for our Adult players in Men’s, Women’s, and Mixed Drop-In Leagues. We will continue to ask ALL interested players to stop by the shop and let her know you’d like to ”play in ”
For more information about any of these events or programs, please visit the shop or give us a call: (757) 253 – 3945
While summer is still in very much full swing, cooler temperatures will be here before we know it! I'm not ready to let go of the warm temperatures, but a hoodie and a fire pit feel like a welcomed break from the heat we've had
Happy Shopping!
If you haven’t seen all the renovation videos from the past six months, you can watch them all here.
There is so much to come! We can’t wait to show you. I’ll see you around The Club.
