The KMGA President’s Cup Tournament was held over the weekend of June 10-11 on the River and Woods Courses. The President’s Cup is one of the most prestigious KMGA tournaments to compete in, and win, as following play on Sunday only one player is crowned President’s Cup Champion The President’s Cup Tournament is an Individual net match play event in which the 32 players competing in this limited field event play five 9-hole stroke play matches over two days (three on Saturday and two on Sunday).
For Saturday’s play the thirty-two players are seeded into eight 4-man PODs according to handicap index Each competitor played against the other players within their POD in a series of 9-hole matches.
The players that earned the most match points on Saturday were declared the POD winners and advanced to the Championship matches. On Sunday, the eight POD winners competed against one another within two separate PODs to determine which two players would advance to the President’s Cup championship match All remaining players were placed into consolation PODs.
In addition to the President’s Cup winner and runner up, the following players won their consolation pods on Sunday:
POD C: Don Lisenbee
POD D: Tom Bolk
POD E: Fred Ramsey
POD F: Marty Reynolds
POD G: Paul Larson
POD H: Mark Dudash
Overall, the 2023 edition of the President’s Cup Tournament was a big success, due in large part to the beautiful weather enjoyed by the players throughout the weekend. The golf courses were in wonderful condition with firm and fast fairways and greens which were enjoyed by all competitors.
A special thank you to the Golf Professional Staff who provided KMGA with critical support as well as the Food & Beverage Department who, together, helped ensure a successful event.
Congratulations to the following players who advanced to the two Championship PODs.
