Bertolt Brecht s Si los tiburones fuesen hombres.

-Si los tiburones fueran hombres -preguntó al señor K. la hija pequeña de su patrona-, ¿se portarían mejor con los pececitos?

-Claro que sí -respondió el señor K.-. Si los tiburones fueran hombres, harían construir en el mar cajas enormes para los pececitos, con toda clase de alimentos en su interior, tanto plantas como materias animales. Se preocuparían de que las cajas tuvieran siempre agua fresca y adoptarían todo tipo de medidas sanitarias. Si, por ejemplo, un pececito se lastimase una aleta, en seguida se la vendarían de modo que el pececito no se les muriera prematuramente a los tiburones.

Para que los pececitos no se pusieran tristes habría, de cuando en cuando, grandes fiestas acuáticas, pues los pececitos alegres tienen mejor sabor que los tristes. También habría escuelas en el interior de las cajas. En esas escuelas se enseñaría a los pececitos a entrar en las fauces de los tiburones. Estos necesitarían tener nociones de geografía para mejor localizar a los grandes tiburones, que andan por ahí holgazaneando. Lo principal sería, naturalmente, la formación moral de los pececitos. Se les enseñaría que no hay nada más grande ni más hermoso para un pececito que sacrificarse con alegría; también se les enseñaría a tener fe en los tiburones, y a creerles cuando les dijesen que ellos ya se ocupan de forjarles un hermoso porvenir. Se les daría a entender que ese porvenir que se les auguraba sólo estaría asegurado si aprendían a obedecer. Los pececillos deberían guardarse bien de las bajas pasiones, así como de cualquier inclinación materialista, egoísta o marxista. Si algún pececillo mostrase semejantes tendencias, sus compañeros deberían comunicarlo inmediatamente a los tiburones.

Si los tiburones fueran hombres, se harían naturalmente la guerra entre sí para conquistar cajas y pececillos ajenos.

Además, cada tiburón obligaría a sus propios pececillos a combatir en esas guerras. Cada tiburón enseñaría a sus pececillos que entre ellos y los pececillos de otros tiburones existe una enorme diferencia. Si bien todos los pececillos son mudos, proclamarían, lo cierto es que callan en idiomas muy distintos y por eso jamás logran entenderse. A cada pececillo que matase en una guerra a un par de pececillos enemigos, de esos que callan en otro idioma, se les concedería una medalla al coraje y se le otorgaría además el titulo de héroe.

Si los tiburones fueran hombres, tendrían también su arte. Habría hermosos cuadros en los que se representarían los dientes de los tiburones en colores maravillosos, y sus fauces como puros jardines de recreo en los que da gusto retozar. Los teatros del fondo del mar mostrarían a heroicos pececillos entrando entusiasmados en las fauces de los tiburones, y la música sería tan bella que, a sus sones, arrullados por los pensamientos más deliciosos, como en un ensueño, los pececillos se precipitarían en tropel, precedidos por la banda, dentro de esas fauces. Habría asimismo una religión, si los tiburones fueran hombres. Esa religión enseñaría que la verdadera vida comienza para los pececillos en el estómago de los tiburones.

Además, si los tiburones fueran hombres, los pececillos dejarían de ser todos iguales como lo son ahora. Algunos ocuparían ciertos cargos, lo que los colocaría por encima de los demás. A aquellos pececillos que fueran un poco más grandes se les permitiría incluso tragarse a los más pequeños. Los tiburones verían esta práctica con agrado, pues les proporcionaría mayores bocados. Los pececillos más gordos, que serían los que ocupasen ciertos puestos, se encargarían de mantener el orden entre los demás pececillos, y se harían maestros u oficiales, ingenieros especializados en la construcción de cajas, etc.

En una palabra: habría por fin en el mar una cultura si los tiburones fueran hombres.

If the sharks were people, his landlady s little daughter asked Mr. K., would they then be nicer to the little fishes?

Surely, said he. If the sharks were people, they would have enormous boxes built in the sea, with all sorts of nourishment inside, plants as well as meats. They would see to it that the boxes always had fresh water, and they would observe absolutely every sort of sanitary measure. If, for example, a little fish would injure his fin, it would be immediately bandaged so that he would not die and be lost to the sharks before his time.

Now and then, in order to keep the little fishes from becoming sullen, there would be big water festivals--for cheerful little fishes taste better than sullen ones.

Of course, there would be schools in the big boxes as well. In these schools the little fishes would learn how one swims into the throat of a shark. They would need geography, for instance, in order to be able to find the big sharks, which lie around lazily. Of course, the central issue would be the moral education of the little fishes. They would be taught that what is greatest and most beautiful is for a little fish to sacrifice himself gleefully, and that they must all believe in the sharks, especially if they were to say that they were only interested in ensuring a beautiful future. One would make it clear to the little fishes that this future could only be ensured if they learnedobedience. The little fishes must shy away from all lowly, materialistic, egotistical, and Marxist inclinations, and they must alert the sharks immediately if such an inclination appears in one of them.

If the sharks were people, they would of course also make war among themselves, in order to conquer foreign fishboxes and foreign fishes. They would let their own little fishes lead the wars. They would teach the little fishes that there is a gigantic difference between them and the little fishes of the other sharks. The enemy fishes, they would proclaim, are clearly mute; but they would in actuality only fall silent in different languages, it being impossible to understand one another. If a little fish killed a pair of little enemy fishes, they silent in another language, this little fish would receive a medal of seaweed and the title of hero.

If the sharks were people, there would of course be art as well. There would be beautiful pictures of sharks teeth in magnificent colors, their throats depicted as pure, wonderful gardens in which one might frolic gayly.

The theaters on the ocean floor would show plays about courageous little fish heroes swimming enthusiastically down the throats of the sharks, and the music would be so beautiful that its sounds would lull the little fishes dreamily and filled with the most pleasant of thoughts into the chapels, where they would stream down the sharks throats.

There would also be a religion there, if the sharks were people. It would teach that life truly began only in the bellies of the sharks.

Certainly, if the sharks were people, the little fishes would cease to be equal, as they are now. Some would receive offices and be placed over others. Those who were a little bigger would even be allowed to eat up the smaller ones.

The sharks would not find this practice disagreeable, for they would now receive larger morsels more often. And the most important of the little fishes--those with offices--would concern themselves with the keeping of order, teachers, officials, engineers of box-building, and so forth.

In short, there would first have to be a culture in the ocean, if the sharks were people.

En estos tiempos donde hay crisis en todas partes en el mundo y los derechos humanos se están restringiendo, uno se siente un privilegiado por poder desarrollarse con libertad y ser capaz de expresar libremente la propia opinión.

In times where there are crises everywhere in the world and human rights are being restricted, one feels it as a privilege, to freely develop and be able to express freely ones opinion. The latter fundamental right stands in the centre of our works presented here.

El derecho fundamental último está en el centro de nuestros trabajos presentados aquí.

En el vestíbulo y el espacio contiguo, mostramos la "Historia del Sr. de Bertolt Brecht que elige la restricción de la libertad de palabra como un tema central en la literatura, la palabra escrita, incluso en el mundo de los medios de comunicación, con referencias a la historia y al presente.

Thus the foyer is dominated by the Story of Mr. K from Bertolt Brecht as well as the adjoining room which picks out the restriction of the freedom of speech as a central theme in literature, the written word, including the media world in the form of press, digital media, with references to history as well as the present.

El otro espacio está dedicado a la libertad del arte, los cuadros no están en la pared, flotan a través del espacio, forzando al espectador a nuevas observaciones / estrategias de percepción, como contraste a los cuadros del tiburón que cuelgan en la pared y que glorifican el régimen. La combinación de pintura e instalación refuerzan la realización de nuestro discurso.

The other room is dedicated to the freedom of art: Pictures are not on the wall, but floating through space, forcing the viewer to new observations / perception strategies; as a contrast to the shark pictures hanging on the wall which are glorifying the regime. Interlocking the painting and the installation with each other, tieing together the abstract with the concrete, supports the realisation of our theme.

De este interrogante parte el texto de Bertrolt Brecht y esta exposición a dos.

This question Bertrolt part Brecht s text and this exposure to two.

Sure, the answer is Lord K and I wonder, sure?

Claro que sí, es la respuesta del Señor K , y yo me pregunto, seguro?

En una sociedad, la actual, en la que el poder y la sumisión son la acción/reacción del mundo y sus habitantes, nos surge la duda de si eso que llamamos libertad es real.

Nos creemos capaces de hacer y deshacer dentro de nuestro pequeño universo individual y no deje de ser una mentira, como todo lo que nos rodea, desde la política, los medios de comunicación, la religión y hasta la educación.

La manipulación de las altas esferas (tiburones insaciables al acecho) sobre el resto (pececitos cuanto más ignorantes mejor) se ha convertido en el rugido brutal y vital para algunos.

Así, tanto Erika desde la pintura, como yo, desde la instalación, hemos creado un tándem artístico que, con esta exposición, pretende crear un pequeño destello de luz.

No cambiaremos el mundo, no les abriremos los ojos a todos los pececitos del mar, ni contagiaremos de humildad y humanidad verdadera a los tiburones de salvajes colmillos, pero intentaremos, desde nuestra propia libertad, quitar alguna venda y despertar conciencias que yazcan dormidas para, en pocas palabras, que haya un mar de cultura bañado de empatía y respeto de unos a otros.

In one, the current society, in which power and submission are the action / reaction of the world and its inhabitants, the question of whether what we call freedom is real arises us.

We believe we are capable of doing and undoing within our own small universe and no longer a lie, like everything around us, from politics, the media, religion and even education.

Manipulating the upper echelons (insatiable lurking sharks) over the rest (the more ignorant little fish better) has become vital to the brutal and some roar.

Thus, both Erika from painting, like me, from installation, we have created an artistic tandem with this exhibition aims to create a small flash of light.

We will not change the world, we will not open their eyes to all the fishes of the sea, or we not spread of humility and true humanity sharks wild canines, but we will try, from our own freedom, remove any band and raise awareness that they lie dormant for, in short, there is a sea of culture suffused with empathy and respect for each other.
