house by the beach is by far the most serene level of living one could ever want, from raw, oceanic, mother-nature scents, to smooth sandy horizons, and cool breezes, it is a dream life for many. This coastal lifestyle is exactly Al Hail North has to offer. Located in the Wilayat of Seeb, between Al Mawaleh North, and the town of Seeb, roughly 14 kilometres from Muscat International Airport, Al Hail is a beautiful residential area that transformed from

a tiny village with a few houses and small mosques, into one of the biggest and most expensive areas in Muscat, home to gigantic, corniche-facing villas and newly developed serviced apartments. The rates for rentals start around OMR300 for small apartments and range from OMR600 to OMR1,200 for villas. The location is prized by locals and expats for its strategic location on the beach and on the main road of 18th November Street, which commuters use to reach business districts such as Al Khuwair and Qurum in as little as 25 minutes if there isn't traffic.

n a worn-out, vintage room you can hear the squeak of a chair rocking back and forth on a wooden floor, an aged man seated on it, holding his book, utterly lost in his reading. Or perhaps a mother is seated on her porch, swaying her baby to sleep before nodding off into her own blissful nap. Such are the images that come to mind when one hears the words ‘rocking chair’. Sure, the rocking chair is an old fashioned piece of furniture, but it can be as at home in a modern villa as in a log cabin, because it is more than a chair, it is a piece of furniture that carries a social history and psychological benefits.

A High Society Chair In the year 1700, these chairs were reserved only for the older aristocracies and nobilities, while middle and lower classes had to settle for sitting on hard, flat wooden surfaces. Entering the 18th century, the design of the chair was being enhanced with leather coverings and decorations, and it became a popular gift for newly wed brides and grooms for their new homes.
Rocking Psychology Beyond its iconic, old-school design, rocking chairs are functional, too. Boredom killers and proven stress relievers, sitting in these chairs and swaying while reading a book allows the mind to relax while keeping the body in motion, for a doubly soothing effect. The same principle applies to rocking while listening to music, watching TV, or taking in a pleasant view.
