figures are a clear evidence of the sector’s increasingly important role in creating a sustainable future for our citizens,” Wael Al Lawati, group CEO of Omran, told the Times of Oman in an exclusive interview. In its 2015 forecast, the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) has predicted that by 2025, Oman’s travel and tourism will support 3.7 per cent of total employment. This is expected to rise 11.0 per cent in 2015 and 3.8 per cent per annum to accommodate 72,000 jobs or 3.7 per cent of the total employment, in 2025. “Given Omran’s position as the nation’s tourism developer, it is pleasing to witness the steady increase in employment opportunities as the travel and tourism sector in the Sultanate continues to elevate its position on the world stage,” added Al Lawati. >A6
