Since that incident, the father has not slept. He has been returning to the sea hoping his daughter will come back. “My wife’s situation is really bad, but I am trying my best to keep her calm,” the father said, adding that he still feels that his daughter is not dead. “I know that facts indicate that she might be dead. I still have hope, though I do not have an answer for her siblings when they start asking me about their younger sister,” said Al Balushi. Saying that his baby was the favourite of the family, Ahmed said, “She was the special one in the family. She was the smartest one and full of life. Water demand He was talking to the media on the sidelines of Oman Energy and Water Exhibition and Conference

here on Tuesday. The demand for potable water in Oman’s northern region, which includes the Muscat governorate, is projected to grow by six per cent per annum in the next seven-year horizon, from 238 million cubic metres in 2013 to 349 million cubic metres in 2020. Demand-supply gap Al Mahrouqi said that the gap between demand and supply is not big. However, he noted that there would be sufficient capacity once the Al Ghubra desalination plant, which has an installed capacity of 191,000 cubic metres per day, starts operations in September. He said that the Al Ghubra plant was expected to start operations before this summer. >A6
