TOP QUALITY RADIO IN MARBELLA

Marbella-based radio station CHILLI FM has been broadcasting for the past few years, becoming more popular within the community every day. Today we are talking with Kane, who is here to tell us all about Chilli FM. Kane is an entrepreneur and the Chilli brand creator who also has a background in the entertainment industry as a former actor and radio presenter.

Tell us Kane, how was Chilli FM born? Chilli FM was born out of the need for a more local and unique radio station that would reflect the audience and the local community. A radio station has the ability to hold up a mirror to the audience and reflect that vibe, that sense of place, that local attitude. Despite lockdowns and business unrest, the Chilli FM radio station began to broadcast in 2020. The network first started out as a radio station serving the immediate Marbella area from its studios near Puerto Banús and today, we broadcast over 150 miles along all Spain’s Costa del Sol on multiple connected FM transmitters. Chilli now also streams online internationally across various smart devices. We have apps for smartphone, smart TV and smart speakers, so have the potential of reaching millions of people.

Describe your station. Who are your listeners? What kind of music does your station play? Chilli FM is the newest and most exciting FM station on the Costa del Sol, airing a hot adult contemporary music format. Chilli FM is authentic, colourful and confident. Just like its audience. Chilli listeners are happy, sophisticated and musically aware, who wake up in a good mood and who enjoy life. They love to go out, eat great food and meet like-minded people who want the best things in life. We generally target individuals over 30 and play music from today’s current contemporary artists such as Bruno Mars and Ed Sheeran, mixed with the top tracks and classic hits from the 70s, the 80s and the 90s, therefore appealing to both women and men from 25 to 65. Do you have more male or female listeners? The majority of the Chilli FM audience are female at about 65%. Women are the movers and shakers in our society and especially in our economy.

Did you know that 80% of all retail purchases are made expressly by women, or highly influenced by women. Chilli FM has a female touch to it and reaches this important demographic like no other radio station in the area. And that was all achieved with the help and support of my fiancée Dana. ›

What is the unique value your radio station brings to listener? Firstly, and most importantly, Chilli FM connects to the listener. It’s all about being in the moment, and connecting listeners with their favourite music. Chilli FM takes each listener on a musical journey throughout the day, playing more uplifting songs in the mornings, calmer music at lunchtime and more upbeat hits during the remainder of the day with specially selected tracks for the evening listener. It is important to also give everyone a fluid musical adventure with a seamless flow of great sounding popular music, and not to subject listeners to annoying, uninteresting commercials all day long. That’s why we are popular. Chilli FM entertains them. It’s essential that a radio station sets the mood for an audience, not only with the music it plays but by the imaging and the style and delivery of the announcements. When you hear a well programmed radio station, the music flows perfectly and is enhanced by the quality imaging. For those who don’t know what ‘imaging’ means, this signifies the ‘in-show production’ and production techniques. And finally, Chilli FM ‘informs’ listeners. Right now, with informative commercials but very soon we are launching dedicated radio shows covering this subject. Are there any interesting radio shows happening now or on the horizon, and what are they about? Yes, ‘Chilli Shoutouts’. Importantly, Chilli FM is all about the music, the community, what’s on, what’s happening, and where to go. ‘Live’ presenters for various shows begin later this year, but right now we have just launched a radio show called Chilli Shoutouts on Saturday mornings. Chilli Shoutouts is a dedicated WhatsApp number where listeners can send in a voice message about anything. They can dedicate a song, tell a silly story or anecdote, say happy birthday to someone, virtually anything, and we’ll play their message on the show, followed by the song they wanted. For the first time, radio listeners can create their own show. It's really easy. All you have to do is add the number 717 121 212 to the contacts on your phone, and then WhatsApp us a voice file. Because it was first time an English-speaking show on the Coast offered this type of global audience interaction, the results were astounding. We received an explosion of messages from Chilli listeners from Spain and all over Europe. They were itching to get on the radio!

Our mission is to never stand still, and through dedication, consistency and quality playlists, we aim to deliver the best service and quality content to both our advertisers and our many thousands of listeners.
