Many of us first came across Greta Gerwig in quintessential ‘mumblecore’ film Frances Ha – the gorgeously funny and sentimental story of Frances – a 27-year-old dancer who dreams of becoming a full member of a small dance company but whose true genius lies in choreography. As she stumbles through life, crashing and burning but facing every obstacle with bravado, we, the audience, find it hard not to fall in love with the purity of a character whose magic can, to a great extent, be attributed to the actor who plays her: Greta Gerwig.
