Annual Report 2024 - Fundação Estudar

Page 1

Legacy is not simply what we leave behind as a result of our actions. Above all, it is what resonates into the future; what remains relevant over time.

This is the kind of impact we seek as an organization: one that endures, inspires, and multiplies the transformations that will make Brazil a better country.

That is why what we've achieved so far makes us proud of what we do. We have consolidated a tangible legacy of hundreds of transformative leadership stories that are leaving unique marks in different sectors.

Our expertise lies in identifying potential, but even more so, we constantly dedicate ourselves to its development. Through the constant improvement provided by their participation in Fundação Estudar's programs, our talents become capable of impacting not only their own lives but also their surroundings and even the entire country.

Potential taken to the highest level.

ANAMAÍRA SPAGGIARI

Executive Director of Fundação Estudar

Precisely because of the multiplicity in which our impact branches out, understanding its full depth is a challenge. In this context, the Impact Measurement Survey conducted in 2018 and more recently initiated in 2023 and concluded in 2024, materializes the dimension of what more than 30 years of focused work, guided by measurable goals, is capable of achieving.

More than celebrating results and achievements, we choose to look at our history with persistent curiosity. How can we improve and transform our work into a driving force for those who benefit from our network, inspiring them to continually seek solutions to our society's complex problems?

Our focus is on achievers, people who restlessly move to materialize their legacy and promote true revolutions. We understand what has transformed the trajectory of those who are changing society today: access to cutting-edge knowledge, a high level of ambition, quality relationships with inspiring people, elevated self-awareness, and high performance in execution.

Carrying this knowledge reinforces the functionality of our operating model, but also allows us to be more efficient and focus on what truly makes a difference when it comes to developing talents in an era where technology is the source of innovation. We value our legacy of decades of work, which has been guiding the present and building the basis for the future. But for people like us the pursuit of excellence is a continuous commitment, driving the most significant and lasting transformations.

Since 1991, the Líderes Estudar program has been academically and professionally empowering talents so that they can be the source of positive transformations in their fields of work, communities, and the country.

These young individuals who paved their way into the world's best universities and Brazil's most respected institutions, receive scholarships that can cover up to 95% of the total cost of their studies. But beyond financial support, our program gives access to:

Paula Morais – 2015 FELLOW, Co-founder of Intera, Founder and COO of InHire.

I took part in 'Liderança Transformadora' and the course was really good because it gave me lots of practical tools on how to form and lead teams. From facilitation techniques, conducting meetings, group decision-making, to evaluation, feedback and follow-up techniques. There is a very practical difference between managing teams and leading them and the course provides a lot of concept and practice on how to apply behaviors and skills in team leadership.

Vogel – 2012 FELLOW, Co-founder of Cuidas and current Growth Product Manager at LootRush.

It was very interesting to be in a course that not only gave me a very robust theoretical framework, but also applied in a practical way. And more than that, in a very diverse group, a diversity that I wasn't able to build around me in the institutions I worked in. What I thought was intuitive and organic in my leadership worked very well in my bubble, but not necessarily in this very different group. In practice, I saw my bottlenecks. It was a truly transformative experience.

Financial Sustainability

As a financially sustainable organization that operates in a hybrid system in terms of where its income comes from, we rely on donors and institutional partners who are fundamental to our work.

We have managed to save BRL $ 1 million in costs and expenses and have achieved one of the best results in terms of donations in recent years. However, the decrease in support from partner companies for our programs impacted our financial results, resulting in a difference of just over 1% to breakeven.

One of the ways to support Fundação Estudar is through the long-term donation pledge - a valuable commitment to contribute financially to our initiatives over the coming years that has guaranteed revenue of BRL $ 1.7 million for the beginning of 2023.

For the next few years, the pledge secures BRL $ 4 million for our work.

Donors and Partners

Through resources and strategic support, our donors and partners help us materialize our impact, while making it everlasting by strengthening the sustainability of our operation. We would like to express our deepest gratitude to everyone who makes Fundação Estudar's mission a reality.

We also give special recognition to our long-term donors, who have chosen to accompany us into the future.

Updates on the Fundação Estudar Board

Giving young Brazilians the opportunity to do great things and change our country has always been Fundação Estudar's mission. We develop talents that can make a difference with each new generation of Brazilian leaders.

For more than three decades, our founders, Jorge Paulo Lemann, Marcel Telles and Beto Sicupira, have dedicated themselves to this goal, which is now emerging as a robust, consistent and transformative legacy.

“For Fundação Estudar to endure, we hope that the scholarship holders will become more and more owners. And we, the founders, are still interested in getting involved by being close to the talent.”

Jorge Paulo Lemann

Now, after more than 30 years of achievements, we welcome a new generation of board members who will be the guardians of this legacy. Reflecting the changes of the times, Fundação Estudar's governance is also being updated with a new format and new members.

“Simpler and more efficient governance, with the best market

practices, will help Fundação Estudar to perpetuate itself.”

Marcel Telles

“We want an active and close board to have the knowledge and make the best decisions for the future.”

Beto Sicupira

From 14 members, the Board will now have 7, 3 of whom are direct representatives of the founders and 4 appointed - most of them Líderes Estudar.

The new members will have a shorter mandate: from 5 years to 2 years, with the possibility of renewing each mandate up to 3 times. Jorge Paulo Lemann will be joined by Lara Lemann, who has been a board member since 2018, Marcel Telles by Rodrigo Figueiredo, and Beto Sicupira will have his responsibilities taken over by Letícia Piccolotto.

Renato Mazzola, who for 10 years acted with great care and diligence as Board Vice-president, will hand over the position to Ana Paula Martinez, who, together with André Penha, will join the Board, which continues to have Florian Bartunek as President and Joyce Toyota as a member with a renewed mandate.

Functional Committees have also been created, replacing the Executive Committee, in which the Board and guests with one-year terms will support the Executive Director and Managers through groups focused on fronts and themes that are essential for the evolution of Fundação Estudar. João Brandão and Daniela Anderez, previously part of the Executive Committee, are now part of the Functional Committees, along with former board members Duda Falcão and Larissa Maranhão, who are supporting us with knowledge management. We also welcome André Abram, Paulo Passoni and Verônica Serra, who are active on the 2024 committees.

We are extremely grateful for the commitment and unconditional dedication of the former members of the Executive Committees and the Board in recent years: Jorge Paulo Lemann, Beto Sicupira, Marcel Telles, Cecília Sicupira, Renato Mazzola, Jean Jereissati, Duda Falcão, André Street and Larissa Maranhão.

Once again, Fundação Estudar is renewing itself to maximize its impact in the present and the future.

Message from the Board

Giving young Brazilians the opportunity to do great things and change our country has always been Fundação Estudar's mission. We develop talents that can make a difference with each new generation of Brazilian leaders.

For more than 30 years, Fundação Estudar has been dedicated to developing leaders for each new generation, guided by the conviction that there are talented young people all over Brazil who are extremely committed to making a change in our country .

Our credibility, in addition to all the experience we gathered while developing young people's potentials, is the result of a meticulous and powerful work that took place over these three decades, and is still making a difference in our reality.

When Fundação Estudar was created, the world was different. So it's no coincidence that year after year, our capacity to develop and offer transformative opportunities to those who will bring about change continues to evolve.

This is, in fact, the result of a strategy that is constantly renewing itself, adapting to new contexts, needs, internal and external challenges, while

drawing on the best in current technology to open up paths and build ever more solid bridges.

In a scenario of accelerating solutions based on artificial intelligence such as the one we are currently experiencing, this resource will increasingly permeate our efforts aimed at excellence, efficiency and sustainability. For the development of high-potential leaders, the core of what we do, AI will also be a powerful ally in building experiences of even greater quality and depth. We don't just replicate what we've already done best: here, the sky has never been the limit. A growth mindset is a value ingrained in everything we do.

To reflect the objectives of Fundação Estudar's next phase, the Board welcomed a new generation of board members hand-picked to be the absolute guardians of our “whys” and mentors of our “hows”. The governance format itself was updated with the aim of being even simpler and more efficient, in line with best corporate governance practices and the future of the organization.

We are deeply grateful to the members of the Executive Committees and the Board over the last few years. What we have paved so solidly over this period

is directly linked to the dedication of these great leaders who have closely monitored every decision.

The legacy built through our work is always a source of pride, but above all, it inspires us to aim even higher in terms of what we are capable of doing.

On a day-to-day basis, the support of our partners and the sparkle in the eyes of the talents that make up the network combine with the ability to execute a team that is like no other. And, above all, they reinforce the belief that, as memorable as our history has been so far, the greatest results are yet to come.

FLORIAN BARTUNEK Board President of Fundação Estudar.
