Community Activator Coach apprenticeship
Course Type: Level 2
Length: 14-18 months
Entry Requirements:
• A coaching qualification or work experience in a coaching environment
• Three GCSEs at grade C/4 or above (minimum grade D/3 in English and maths or Level 1 equivalent)
The apprentice will work in a coaching or activity leadership role, learning a range of skills and knowledge to help them to potentially progress on to community jobs, sports coaching, or teacher training.
The Community Activator Coach promotes, delivers and coaches fun, inclusive and engaging activities that help whole communities to change their behaviour to adopt and keep to a physically active lifestyle.

• Coaching Process
• Coaching in the Community
• Technical coaching requirements for sport and physical activity
Sports Coach apprenticeship
Course Type: Level 4
Length: 18-24 months
Entry Requirements:
• Experience of coaching in the pathway setting
• Coaching Qualification (ideally, but not mandatory)
• Applicants without English and math GCSE at 4/C or above will be required to complete and pass Functional Skills
Level 2
The apprentice can work in a school, the community or a high performance role, learning advanced coaching skills and knowledge to help them to potentially progress as professional sports coaches, into teacher training or sports development manager roles.
The Sports Coach has three main strands;
School Sport Coaches
Collaborate with teachers to develop pupils’ mastery of psychomotor skills by applying a whole child approach in their coaching. They work in all categories of school and registered childcare environments.
High Performance Sport Coaches
Develop athletes and players in highperformance settings, including those on talent or development pathways, national or international programmes, professional or podium environments.
Community Sport Coaches
Motivate and engage people of all ages and abilities in community sports and physical activity settings. Community sport includes local authority, charity and national governing body of sport community initiatives or clubs.
