LEVEL 1 DIPLOMA IN HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE AND YOUNG PEOPLE’S SETTINGS
Course length: 1 year
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
This course is designed for students who wish to progress into a career in the childcare or health and social care industry. The course will cover topics including communication, safeguarding, equality and diversity, physical care for babies and health and nutrition for both adults and children.
WHAT GRADES DO I NEED?
3 GCSEs at grade 2/E or above or an entry 3 GCSEs grade 3/D or above including
level qualification in a related course.
WHAT’S NEXT?
On completion of the course you could childcare or health and social care or by securing an apprenticeship.
LEVEL 2 DIPLOMA FOR THE EARLY YEAR’S PRACTITIONER
Course length: 1 year
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
Our level 2 course will cover the roles and responsibilities of the early year’s practitioner, promoting play in the early year’s setting and understanding how to support a child’s development. You will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge, skills and behaviours in our industry standard craft room, baby students.
WHAT GRADES DO I NEED?
progress on to our level 2 courses in English and maths or a level 1 qualification in a related course.
WHAT’S NEXT?
Once you have completed this course you could further your studies by progressing on to our Level 3 Extended Diploma in Childcare or by securing an apprenticeship.

If you don't already have a GCSE grade 9-4/A*-C, you will continue to work towards this as part of your main programme of study.
LEVEL 3 DIPLOMA IN CHILDCARE
Course length: 2 years
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
This course will provide you with the skills needed to work with babies and young children through a combination of theory and practical sessions. You will learn about child development, safeguarding, health and safety. You will also develop your skills by completing work placements during the course.
WHAT GRADES DO I NEED?
4 GCSEs grade 4/C or above including English and maths or a level 2 qualification in a related course.
WHAT’S NEXT?
After you have completed your course you could progress on to our FdA Early Years (Sector Endorsed) course at the College or enter employment within schools, childcare, family support, local authority or nursery settings.
