Transform through trouble - Learn from critics Honestly, a lot can be achieved!! Staying calm – difficult?? Yes. Impossible?? No. Seething with rage?? Yes. Want to be the ‘bigger’ person, too?? Yes. Can you have the cake and eat it too?? No. You’re human, remember?? Nobody’s perfect!! There are so many posts that can be found on the Internet continuously, suggesting what to think when you ‘feel’ criticized. But, those are only suggestions. Ask yourself Does the Internet ‘know’ me?? No. Does the Internet ‘know’ how I feel?? No. does the Internet ‘care’ to ‘want’’ to ‘know’ me?? No. Yes, it is difficult to accept criticism of any sort. The feeling of being ‘caught out’ hurts your self-worth profusely. The ‘twist’ here is to ‘hold yourself’ for those moments of deep and resentful antagonism. Control your momentary desire to defend your actions. Stop or slow down till you ‘calm’ down. Remember, every individual has the right to express his / her opinion, and ‘differently’ from you. Perhaps, quietly walking away from the ‘situation’ also allows you the time to reconcile with your judgements on your ‘criticized’ situation. Your objective here should be, to have an ‘intentional’ mindset where YOU ‘want’ to learn ‘another’ way of understanding your ‘situation’ instead of holding high to ‘your’ opinion. A comprehensive and open mind-set on a ‘criticized topic’ in question, broadens your personal outlook. You have to allow yourself to observe ‘another point of view’. It is only with this sort of transformational ‘thinking’, will you be able to comprehend a diverse culture of viewpoints. It may take a ‘while’ to ‘accept’ another ‘opinion’ due to your ‘bruised self-esteem’, but if that ‘other opinion’ is the ‘stress-free approach’ to deal with a ‘seemingly high voltage situation’, will you still ‘hold high’ your opinion on the issue in question? Will you still believe you’re ‘right’ in your situation?? The point here is to ‘improve your knowledge’ from your critics without letting your antagonism ‘get’ to you. Our daily lives are all about learning from one another through silent and continuous observations. ‘Criticism’ should continuously be constructive. If it is not, it’s mere conversation. Whether you are at the receiving end of criticism or the one giving it, it should continually be to improve ‘your’ knowledge and ‘your’ personal growth of ‘your’ situation. It’s how you personally ‘accept’ criticism that should be ‘worked upon’.
