Next steps for Eumundi Community Garden

The Annual General Meeting of the Eumundi Community Garden held recently was an opportunity to look back on the success of many years of hard work in establishing a functional space for community connection, activities, events, learning and food production. The group – established and supported by Eumundi and District Community Association (EDCA) – now has most of the infrastructure initially planned in place.

Looking forward, it was agreed that food security is a crucial concern for many families. Education will be provided on how to grow anything from potted herbs to raised garden beds, right up to larger sized vegetable patches.

Jenny Abood (President), Sue Godwin (Secretary), Les Godwin (Treasurer), together with garden manager Anja Morgan, will lead the team to increase learning opportunities for locals and assist with outfitting the all-weather spaces. Informative monthly meetings will address topics that support food production in home gardens with a timetable of guest speakers and workshops to follow. The group will also work towards creating a virtual platform which will provide information on meeting times, workshops provided and a question-andanswer section.

If you would like to join the team in planning the next phase of the Eumundi Community Garden, contact Jenny at bellisbounty@gmail.com or join members every Friday afternoon from 3pm at the gardens located beside the Old Scout Hall at 20-56 Memorial Dr, Eumundi. Janet Millington
