Community Connection Meeting

A range of organisations and interested parties gathered for the quarterly Eumundi Connecting Community Meeting hosted by Eumundi State School (ESS) on 24 October. Student leaders greeted guests and personally escorted them to the meeting room.

Following a welcome by school leaders Josh Campbell and Eddie Dean, Acting Principal Kelly Jeppersen shared the history of the school’s Enviro Centre. Initially established in 1994 through a collaboration between the school and community organisations, the centre features a community garden and offers an immersive, practical learning experience for all students. A video highlighted examples of integrated Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM) learning in action, as well as wellbeing activities such as yoga and cooking, using produce from the impressive gardens.

Ms Jeppersen introduced the idea of using the Wellbeing Hub for community activities on the days it is vacant. The building was established through fundraising efforts of the Eumundi community and as such it could also be utilised for activities that foster community connection and wellbeing.
