VIEW CHANGER -

Hey circle, there you turn. Inside or outside, from the bove to the top. -

Ghost in the machine is the tittle of this project, it is required to use three any objects to be composed into space. These are my first two objects; a mop filter and a bowl keeper. They have a lot of different ways to be composed, each of them has a big void which I call it as “composition of void.

Objects : 1. mop filter 2. bowl keeper ( a cage to keep bowls )

COMPOSITION ANALYSIS

Option 1 : Space are obviously can be seen divided horizontally, the bowl cage seems to grow out the leg (coloum) for the structure.

3. a semiphere transparent bowl ( instead of the translucent sieve )

Option 2 : A big volume of the mop filter is interlock on the structural bowl cage, like a hanging volume.

DESIGN AND EXPERIENCES

To echo with the circle, spiral staircases are applied to enchance the experience of the turning.

The staircases vary its width when it gets higher as the radius of the object is getting bigger. Hence, at the staring point of the trail, one can see a strong perspective of the circle.

The views form interior are framed by the openings of the object (mop filter). One can only see the panaromic view on the top of the platform.

It is a split-flow circulation, one can walk inside or outside of the Viewer.

The big staircases on the top allows interaction of people to stay and rest for a time.

The staircases outside were setted close to the topology so that one can have a close interaction with the nature.

SITE SETTINGS

There is no real site for this project, it is created based on the different experience with different topology that I want people to experience along the changing in the height. The building which I see it as a View Machine for the viewer to experience the scenic setted view; it is setted on the egde of a cliff that people can really close to it and also it is near to the sea.

PERCEPTION OF LANDLINE -

SITE ANALYSIS

The landlines that seen from the selected site area and its corresponding people’s allocation in secition. The site is located between two different department of buildings, students walk around here in between the periods. What I had discovered was that the site has obvious topology change in just a walking distance. Hence, I developed a way to observe how the landline change; I set every 5m in the site to be the observe point in each vertical and horizontal vector in order to find out the most easiest percepted landline as my design site. To enhance one’s perception of the landline is my objective in this design.

DESIGN ANALYSIS

Furniture are used to create different height of view for different experience of the landline.

DESIGN METHOD

Digging as to enhance the perception of landline, it is because people will walk in more different level of height.

Different level of eye view height.

ARCHITECTURE PLANNING VOLUME DISTRIBUTION

Relationship between the volumes and the landlines.

Volume in different height.

FORMING PROCESS

The form of the volume is to frame the landline to in order to let it be percepted in an easy way, this is a series of the developement of the framing structure.

ERGONOMIC STUDY OF DIFFERENT HEIGHT OF STRUCTURE

DESIGN PROCESS

MODEL

Use framing as a method to enhance the perception of the landline.

Using the experience of height changing when people walking, due to the different angle of perspective, one will experience different landline. In order to span the big spacing between the columns, intergration of the wood is used to decrease the number of column.

Even for the allocation of toilet, the directivity of the male and female toilet also help strengthen the perception of landline.

Developement of the form of the toilet.

The intergration of the wood creates a directivity towards the landline.

MEDITATION IN CIRLES Interpretation from Buddhist Scripture

“ Même si nous sommes conscients de notre être chétif — par l’action même d’une brutale dialectique nous prenons conscience de la grandeur. “ - La poétique de l’espace

“如果我們真的意識到微不足道的自我, 我們就會產生龐然巨大感的意識。” - 私密的浩瀚感《空間詩學》

Previous page : Abstract drawing from my interpretation of the scripture.

Buddist Scripture about 12 Karma Endless loops of life.

The Karma told us that the relationship between before and after one’s life during reincarnation. There is always reasons in your past life that make you who you are now. When I draw this layers of circles, I felt like this is a healing process from the scripture to this abstract circles. Vice versa, it is a journey in search of oneself, when one go through all the layers.

A journey in search of oneself... Perception

Limiting one’s sight perception to maximise one’s body perception. As one traversing through the layers of corton steel, the surrounding of the urban getting obscurred, and one will only focus on their narrow pathway with maximised body perception and the light from the slit. This layers of taken off process as a metaphor of one’s journey to his purest mind and heart.
