POOLS, SPAS & HOT TUBS

YEAR-ROUND COMFORT WITH A GOLDEN COAST HEAT PUMP

Keeping guests happy whatever the weather

The units are designed with titanium heat exchangers that boast excellent resistance to corrosion caused by salt, chlorine, and bromine. This robust construction ensures the heat pump can withstand the harsh elements of pool and spa environments, providing a reliable heating solution for park operators.

Adam Clark, General Manager at Golden Coast, explains: “If you run a holiday park, you know the British weather is notoriously unpredictable. While it’s true that it’s quicker to heat a hot tub in warmer air temperatures, Golden Coast’s heat pumps are designed to perform well no matter the season. This means that your hot tubs can be enjoyed by guests throughout the year, regardless of external temperature fluctuations.

When it comes to hot tubs, waiting for the water to warm up is far from an enjoyable experience for holiday guests. Thankfully, Golden Coast’s inverterdriven air source heat pumps are designed to address this with exceptional speed and efficiency. The heat pumps are specifically tailored to heat water swiftly, ensuring that the spa is ready to be enjoyed in no time.

This is all achieved with an impressive output of up to 13 kilowatts of heat for every kilowatt of energy consumed. Once the water in a hot tub reaches the desired temperature, the heat pump intelligently switches off while maintaining the set temperature. This minimises energy consumption and ensures optimal performance.

In a test conducted by Golden Coast,

it examined the performance of the heat pump on a hot tub in an ambient air temperature of 12°C. The results were impressive. It took only three hours and 40 minutes to heat the hot tub water from a starting temperature of 10°C to a comfortable 38°C. This rapid heating time far surpassed the performance of the previously used electric heater.

With the ability to function in temperatures as low as -15°C, the heat pump excels in providing reliable operation even on chillier days and keeps the hot tub experience accessible and enjoyable year-round. Additionally, the inclusion of a heater tray element safeguards the machine throughout the colder months, protecting the machine and ensuring its long-lasting performance.

“Whether it’s a scorching summer day or a freezing winter night, our heat pumps can handle the challenge. The ability to always maintain comfortable temperatures provides peace of mind. It also means you can easily provide the same facilities year-round and keep guests happy whenever they stay.”

Incorporating an efficient rotary compressor and multi-speed fan motor, the heat pump unit ensures quiet operation, producing a mere 40dB of noise — equivalent to the serene ambiance of a library. As a result, guests can indulge in tranquil relaxation without being disturbed by any noise from the heat pump.

Keep pool water clean and costs low

To support the holiday park sector, leading wet leisure distributor Golden Coast offers an extensive range of innovative commercial products which can help to reduce energy usage and save money in the long run.

Stay in control with Bayrol Bayrol dosing systems offer a convenient way to automate the measurement and control of water treatment products used in pool water care.

“By accurately analysing pool water, regulating pH levels, and measuring and dosing disinfectants, Bayrol systems optimise chemical usage to ensure that

water is properly treated and is safe for use,” says Kristy Carlisle, Operations manager at Golden Coast. “The Bayrol Analyt and Compact systems are ideal for commercial pools, offering a range of functionalities accessed via an easy-to-use 5-inch display and touchscreen controls.”

For swimming pools of drinking quality, the Dryden DAISY+® water treatment system by Dryden Aqua offers improved filtration, minimises the need for disinfectants, and ensures healthier water and air conditions.

The Dryden DAISY+® system prevents the growth of bacteria and pathogens while reducing the formation of harmful disinfection by-products.

Dryden DAISY+® uses Activated Filter Media (AFM) as a replacement for traditional filter sand to improve pool performance and reduce energy consumption. AFM is self-sterilising and never needs to be recharged. Unlike other filter materials, AFM is not subject to biodynamic instability and will never allow untreated water to pass the filter. This reduces the risk of bacteria and parasites being present in the water.

“Although sand is a good filtration material, it can become a home for bacteria, and an alginate jelly can form which is not

only resistant to oxidation by chlorine but also blocks the filter,” says Kristy Carlisle. “In contrast, AFM is a highly engineered material made of processed glass that increases its surface area by 300 percent for superior filtration.”

Not only does Dryden DAISY+® lower chlorine oxidation demand by up to 50 percent, but it also reduces water consumption, helping to lower energy bills and preserve resources. By doubling filter performance without the need for additional infrastructure investments, Dryden DAISY+® and AFM provide a costeffective and efficient solution for holiday park swimming pools.

“Investing in water treatment products can help holiday parks to reduce energy consumption, streamline costs, and provide a safe and enjoyable swimming experience for guests,” adds Kristy Carlisle. “Whether you’re looking to automate water treatment with Bayrol’s dosing systems, improve filter performance with AFM, or enhance water quality with Dryden DAISY+®, there are a range of innovative products available to suit your needs.”
