Location: Pejaten, Jakarta | Site Area: 904.40 sqm Typology: Public Space | Period: Nov - Dec 2016 This is a commision from Japfa Corporation who is assigned by provincial government of DKI Jakarta to fund the integrated public space for children as corporate social responsibility. THE PROBLEM
People lives in such a dense area with no open space for children to play. The children usually play on the streets and railways which are extremely dangerous. So the local government try to provide a public space for children to play and learn and for mothers to produce herbal vegetation, cater fish, and sell local food.
THE SOLUTION
My team and I propose a curvy form concept to symbolize the dinamics and movements of children playing. The wall curves and becomes roof. The unique curvy form differentiates this building among the surrounregular houses, so easily spotted by passerby, remarking itself as the central public space in the area. Soon it becomes so popular and always packed with children and mothers.
