The African American Museum is the last remaining building of the Lincoln Gardens, the second federal housing project created under the administration of President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal in 1938. The museum showcases life in the 1930s era as well as promoting arts and education programs, cultural events, and festivals. evvafricanamericanmuseum.wordpress.com
Standing in the center of Memorial Plaza on the University of Evansville campus, the “Weeping Basketball” was built in honor of the 1977 UE basketball team, most of whom tragically died in a plane crash shortly after takeoff. The stone slabs on each side of the entrance to the plaza are engraved with the names of all who died. evansville.edu
Victory Theatre is one of the city’s most historic venues, even making its way onto the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. Built in 1921, it now hosts various performing arts events and is the home of the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra. victorytheatre.com
