P ORTA L E GRE - A L E NTE JO 2016
Monte da Penha Monte da Penha is a property located in the mountainous area of Portalegre. It is a unique and genuine family project The adventure in the world of wines for the Baptista Fino family began in the early XX century with the mythical "Tapada do Chaves," a reference among the Alentejo wines. The grapes from Monte da Penha vineyards contributed to making some of the best vintages of these wines, up to the sale of that brand and winery in 1998. The vineyards of Monte da Penha, cover an area from the plains, with clay and limestone terroir, up to the steep slopes of the “Serraâ€?, where the vines struggle among the many stones to survive the high Alentejo temperatures. Despite all the tradition of four generations linked to wine, Monte da Penha combines modern and past. The winery is equipped with the latest technology, hundreds of French oak barrels rest in the wine cellar, also where the bottles age until they are ready to be launched in the market. The wines are different, made from typical Portuguese grapes, they are elegant, fresh and more persistent wines, with a well balanced acidity, very characteris- tic of Portalegre and its microclimate. These wines have often been compared by Wine Enthusiast and Robert Parker to the great French Wines of the CĂ´te du Rhone.
