A
s a lover of this time of year I venture toward the end of 2012 with mixed emotion. A bitter sweet journey with a new year to look forward to, let us not dwell on the malevolent and remember the sugary bits. The Olympics, the Paralympics, the creativity of Danny Boyle and the wonder that is Daniel Craig, I mean, James Bond. Ahem. Such splendours are without question, a reason to celebrate. The email of the year award 2012 goes to Rowena, EM's designer, who asked me, "Erm, can I just ask why James Bond is in the magazine and what it has to do with modelling?" To which my answer was along the lines of, "Because it's James Bond". With 007 celebrating fifty years of active service alongside the other spectacular components that created 2012 it would be simply rude not to include them within our magazine. Don't you think? Gracing our front cover this winter is winner of the EM model search Lizzie Haylett. After receiving hundreds of entries Lizzie was selected by the EM panel. At the age of forty we ask; what is the top end age for modelling? Does it really have to end by our mid twenties? Read Kirsty's column on page 10 and let us know what you think. Some of my closest friends are forty plus and 2012 has been one of their busiest modelling years to date. But do we promise a life long career to young aspiring models or err on the side of caution? Every Model Magazine was created to provide acknowledgement of every genre of model and no age restrictions have ever applied, and quite frankly, shouldn't. Also inside this issue we bring you the EM Christmas gift guide, top tips from Izabella, child modelling advice, updates from our regular columnists and a beautiful shoot celebrating the marriage of our very own Fay Louise Hill. All that remains for me to say now is we hope you have a fabulous Christmas along with a positive and deserved new year. A huge thank you to the EM team for their continued hard work and commitment. See you all in 2013... lucky for all.

TOO YOUNG OR
TOO OLD
ICHOL BY KIRSTY N
TO MODEL?
Recently a model friend told me her agency had removed her from their website as now that she was 22 she was “no spring chicken”.
D
espite being reassured by her booker that she would remain on the agency’s books and just not on the website, this led me to question why the modelling industry is continuously on the hunt for fresh talent that seems to be growing younger. Of course reading this may come as no surprise to some of you as several of the world’s best models have stemmed from a young age. Look at Kate Moss who began her career after being scouted at the age of 14. Whilst this is completely fine it seems the real issue is that parts of our industry seem to advocate that once you hit a certain age you become invisible to make way for the next junior batch. The problem appears to be more evident in particular divisions of the modelling world. Models in the commercial side of the industry often have a longer career life span than those working in high fashion. Many modelling agencies also take on ‘older’ models in their ‘classic’ division, however the models found in this category are often middle aged rather than in their twirties. Then there are the types of modelling that legally require an adult, as naturally to work in the glamour division girls need to be eighteen or over. This would therefore imply that perhaps it’s not all bad news for those of us in our post-teens. I've seen women in their forties still doing glamour, implied and even nude which suggests that it isn't your chronological age, but more about your look. You also only have to examine the advertising of alcohol which mandates that all models must be over the age of 25 so the images don’t look as though they are endorsing underage drinking. Such a mandate would suggest that there is work out there to be had for models not in their adolescence, as not every brand or company will be targeting the pre twenty demographic.
When looking at the other side of the story, there has recently been concern over girls as young as ten gracing the pages of high end fashion magazines such as Vogue and posing in what would be considered a provocative nature for a child. Young models have also been seen wearing standard editorial makeup and clothing that would not be typically associated with a ten year old, for example a pair of heels. With this in mind we see that although many models are young, there must come a point in which girls are perhaps too young to advertise products that would be suited to an older model. It seems many reputable high fashion agencies have responded to the public’s claim of “sexualising children” and have only opened their books to girls aged 14 and above. Does 14 still seem too young though? It would be fair to say that whilst most 14 year olds are consumed with the dramas that teenage life brings, others are out there beginning the first steps of what will be a potentially short lived career in the high fashion modelling world. The harsh reality is that these first steps cannot be taken when a girl is say 22 or 23. This is apparent as an agency needs to invest time and money into a new signing and this investment will not be returned if a model is only a few years away from the first signs of aging. As cruel as this sounds these first signs equal more Photoshop, special effects and lighting, something that won’t be needed from a fresh faced fourteen year-old. So whilst people are complaining about the lack of “old” and the prevalent young in particular campaigns, perhaps the fashion industry could get over its obsession with youth, embrace the older woman onto high profile campaigns and accept that maybe after all age is just a number. Winter Jewel
To be a model you have to be 6’ tall, stick thin and 18 right? Why is this perception still in existence and what is it going to take for us to accept and update our own portfolio of reality? Time after time we are bombarded with ‘feel bad’ stories to sell papers and magazines. But how many of these are actually filled with up to date accurate detail?
H
ere at Every Model Magazine we do what it says on the cover - we showcase every genre of model. Those being from fashion, to editorial, plus size, petite, commercial, glamour and the older model. Yes, the ‘older’ model. Because despite the belief that if you become a model at 16 your career is inevitably over by the age of 24 tops, this really isn’t or does not have to be the case. Older women have become increasingly visible in the arena in which, above all others, nubile youth has long trumped all else: fashion. Models and celebrities are featuring in campaigns more than ever, such as Christy Turlington (41), Madonna (51), Emma Balfour (40), Elle Macpherson (47). Lizzie is a fitness instructor, married and has two children. She has been
modelling since the age of fifteen and remains doing so at the age of forty, along with a large number of other women and indeed men. Lizzie was selected from hundreds of applicants from the age of 17 and with no upper age limit applications came from applicants over fifty years of age. She was finally selected from a shortlisted group of successful applicants. Whilst Every Model Magazine maintains that the modelling industry is highly competitive, realistically dependent on luck and timing, it is also an industry which can, for the right people, provide long term career opportunities. Lizzie was chosen as the winner by the Every Model Magazine judging panel, including the magazines Editor in Chief Ruth Deane, who says of Lizzie, “We had a very high standard
of applicants and Lizzie stood out to us as being not only naturally beautiful with great skin, teeth, hair and an excellent figure. But she also conducts herself in a highly professional manner and is refreshingly unassuming. Lizzie has also been modelling on and off for some time and has not given up even though she has often been rejected as she is not particularly tall. Her qualities along with her approach to living a healthy lifestyle we feel will inspire men and women no matter what their age not to give up wanting to achieve.”

Olivia’s Diary So this is my third diary entry as Miss Every Model. I know that the time is getting closer to when I have to hand over my title...
T
he date of the final or Miss Every Model 2013 has been released as the 11th May 2013. That's only five months away... so girls, get your applications in. The whole experience of being Miss Every Model 2012 has opened so many doors for me and has been a real eye opener by helping me realise what I really want to do in the future. I was in Love It magazine last month. They did a whole write up on my inspirational story and I even featured on the front cover of the magazine. A lady from Love It called me and interviewed me about my story. It was very nerve racking because I didn’t want to say the wrong thing and my story not to come out the way I wanted it to. They wrote it perfectly though and it got across the message to
young women that I wanted. It’s really weird when you see yourself on the front cover of a newspaper or magazine. At first I was petrified about being in the newspapers, on TV, on the stage and being in the limelight in general, but after it had all happened, I loved it. I truly recommend the experience to each and every girl out there and it really isn't just about what you look like, it's the person and beauty inside that shines through, so every girl out there has a chance. Auditions are being held on the 27th January. Ruth has invited me to help which I am so excited about. I have never done anything like that before so it will be a great experience for me being the judge rather than being the one judged. I am also going to be judging on the final night which I can't wait for. All
my friends and family are excited for me and all plan to be there. I've not done much modelling recently as I have been so busy with work and my university degree (everything always gets busy around Christmas time). But next year I am definitely concentrating on my modelling and career. I think I will apply for Miss England again next year as I had such a great experience meeting different people and raising money for charity. I'm still preparing for Race for Life in April, hopefully I will be fit enough to do the 10k. I hope to see you all at the Miss Every Model 2013 auditions and finals next year - it's too good to miss!

AMARGAN DELIVERS DREAM HAIR
OROFLUIDO EXCLUSIVE EDITION. LIP GLOSS WITH LIGHT AND MIRROR AND BEAUTY ELIXIR This set would make for an amazing gift. If someone gave me this I would be very happy. Hint hint husband... The Lip gloss is luxurious, translucent, and nourishing. The light that shines from inside the lip gloss wand is really bright, with a convenient mirror on the side. I expected it to be the perfect gloss to apply late at night in a taxi going from one party to the next - and I can confirm, this is the case. The second part of this set is a 50ml beauty elixir. This is a conditioning hair treatment oil that should be applied to dry or damp hair. Apply this all over and concentrate on applying it to your roots to soothe the ends that might be a bit dry from heating tools. Avoid applying too much to your scalp. My hair drinks this up, it doesn't feel heavy, it feels like a million quid. Love it. Also, a little goes a long way with this elixir so apply a small penny-size amount at a time and it should last you the best part of a year.

APHRODITE OLIVE OIL FACE SCRUB This face scrub is ideal for clearing away dead skin. Your skin cells renew themselves approximately every 28 days. So it is important to regularly get rid of the dead ones and bring out the new. The organic extra virgin olive oil is well known for it's many uses and compliments this scrub well, as it leaves the skin feeling extra soft. Along with the many other natural ingredients including chamomile, calendular oil, aloe vera, lemon balm, and magnolia I feel as if mother nature herself has designed this product. The Aphrodite range is aiming to bring it users 'The Secret of Natural Beauty' and I feel like they have achieved a big old win.

LEMONADE'S PLATINUM & MILLIONAIRE BRACELETS These sparkly beauties can be found on Lemonade's website www.lovelemonade.com at the price of £44.95
I think this should have been called a 'hand bag brush'. It is so compact and light, you can stick it in your bag and is a must have for the model on the go. The smooth round ended pins are massaging to your scalp – I brush my hair for longer than I probably need to as it just feels so nice. Denman brushes are very well known by hairdressers all over the world and have been around since 1938 and have mastered hairbrush manufacturing to a fine art. It is quite likely that when you pull this out your bag that you will get some envious looks. Go online to view their entire range, I would recommend buying this small styling brush for your bag and buying another Denman brush geared towards your specific hair style to keep at home. A great stocking filler for all year round use.

MODEL SOPHIE CHRYSSAPHES TALKS ABOUT ECZEMA Most people I know love this time of year. They look forward to Christmas and the cold weather bringing the snow. I look forward to it too, but not the weather, It’s great for pictures but not so great for my skin.
I
have eczema – a dry skin condition that affects 1 in 5 children and 1 in 12 adults in the UK. I was born with eczema and have battled with it all my life. At the age of 18 months I was rushed to hospital as my eczema became infected and had gone septic. Although the symptoms have gradually got better over time I have never ‘grown out of it’ as a lot of children do. Anyone who suffers with eczema will know the difficulties, time and effort it takes to manage the symptoms. From moisturising 2-3 times a day, to not being able to wear that wool jumper you love and having to steer clear of fake tan because of the dreaded brown patches that appear anywhere you have eczema. I have also recently started a dairy free diet, as I believe this is one factor that makes my skin condition worse. The cold, wet weather this time of year only aggravates my skin and sees me covered in dry, red and itchy patches on my arms, legs and hands. Over the last few months my eczema has spread to my face and this patch is proving the hardest to manage. As an aspiring model trying to build my portfolio, eczema is a nightmare. I am awake at night hoping and praying my eczema doesn’t decide to flare up on the day of a shoot. I have learnt from experience the more stressed I get, the worse my eczema becomes so my advice is to relax and keep moisturising. As well as building my photographic portfolio I compete in contests as regularly as I can and have found this the most difficult time to hide my eczema. There are times when my eczema is stubborn and visible. The only thing I can do is to be confident and ignore it. If I make a big deal of it or try and cover it with my hand I will only draw attention to
it so I act as if nothing is wrong and hope the judges will pay more attention to my walk and poise than they will my skin. It’s not easy, but I work hard at maintaining my skin and managing my eczema and these are just some of the products I have tried…
and lotion have been developed for babies meaning they are really gentle on the skin. I used the thicker cream on the patches of eczema and the lotion as an all over body moisturiser. It cleared up the eczema on my arms very quickly. However, if you don’t like moisturisers with a strong smell this might not be for you.
I do have some scars from the years of itching that a moisturiser will never fix so I tried S5 Replenish Serum. Formulated for scarred, dry skin - It’s a great product to use, smells lovely and left my skin silky soft. So far I can only see improvements so it’s a thumbs up from me.
Renouve- Anti Aging Every Day Defence Hand Sanitizer which is great for dry hands as its alcohol free formula leaves hands silky soft and feeling moisturized while still killing 99.9% of bacteria. It smells lovely too with a burnt orange fragrance – perfect for this time of year.
For an all over body moisturiser, try using Weleda Baby - Calendula Moisturising Body Cream and Lotion. Both the cream
Shower gels and shampoos can aggravate eczema and dry skin so, if your skin is sensitive to body washes try using Weleda Baby - Calendula Shampoo and Body Wash. It’s an all in one product that is kind to my skin. Again, formulated for babies so you can be sure it won’t irritate. The natural ingredients make it a must have product for those with sensitive skin.
For a face cream try using – S5 Restore Cream (Normal –Dry Skin) this is an anti ageing, plumping moisturiser. The product does exactly what it says on the tin. My skin felt firmer and plumper and was visibly moisturised.
Over the years I have tried and tested plenty of products and I know what works for me. Not all products will have the same effect on everyone and you need to try as many lotions and potions as you can to find what is right for you. My last piece of advice is when you find the product that works for you stick to it. What is eczema? Eczema is a dry skin condition, which can vary from person to person. It is not contagious. If you have eczema the protective barrier in your skin is not as good as it should be, meaning bacteria or irritants can pass through more easily, so your skin breaks down more easily - quickly becoming irritated, cracked and inflamed. Generally eczema appears on the skin in patches of dry, scaly red skin and can be very itchy. More severe cases may have weeping, crusting and bleeding skin.

In October 2012, British singersongwriter Adele confirmed that she had written and recorded the film's theme song with her regular songwriter, Paul Epworth. The song was released on the 5th October 2012, a day dubbed "James Bond Day" by the producers as it marked fifty years to the day of the release of Dr. No. *EM's Editor Ruthie and Events Reporter Laura Coleman went to see the film together. Laura inspired (or something) by it, left the cinema as on an imaginary spy, dragging a doumbfounded Ruthie dramatically to their parked car. on a street that is renowned for its "Adult Shops" it sure is a bizarre and surreal experience. But as soon as you are through
the door things become even more strange. With regulars of the club including Hollywood Stars, A-List Celebs and even Royalty like Prince Harry, everyone is clambering for a spot on the guestlist, or to buy a table ranging from £1000-£5000 it has quickly become THE place to go. Recent celebs attending have been Kate Moss, Jude Law, Leona Lewis, Snoop Dogg and Keira Knightley to name but a few. When my friend and I entered the club on a bustling Saturday night we were greeted by a larger than life drag queen and a beautiful tall dancer. We were informed cameras, and phone photos were totally banned, and we were shown upstairs into an elegantly decorated nightclub with stage and plenty of velvet. After having a NOSEY around and getting a glass of champers, the show started on stage. There are 5-7 shows a night, that range from the bizarre to the ridiculous. Really an eye opening experience.. You must go to experience the mystery behind the doors of The Box.
wine. It really is a great selling point and lovely to just waltz in and grab yourself whatever you wish. Dinner at the adjoining restaurant was brilliant. The one thing I love most about London is that there are so many great places tucked away to be discovered, and when you find them it's like finding a cave full of treasure. The 1901 Restaurant and Wine Bar at The Andaz Hotel is just that. The interior is amazing, with stark white walls, beautiful flowers, a central bar, and higher than high ceilings all with period features but a modern look. The staff were lovely and helpful, and we were served like Princesses all night with cocktails galore, food and great company. The food included fresh fish, homemade pasta and squid ink linguine (all reasonably priced.) For an occasion, I don't think you could find a better and nicer place to take that someone special.
BREKKIE AT
SKETCH
L
ocated just off Regent Street on Conduit Street, in my opinion Sketch is one of the best places to go for breakfast, lunch, pre dinner drinks, after dinner drinks, or dinner in its newly refurbished restaurant. Greeted at the front door by two fire lanterns, and a man in a top hat you venture into a beautifully lavish entrance hall, where you are led into the bar on the right. Inside you are welcomed and seated in one of the rather quirky seats. Breakfast is absolutely fantastic with a vast choice. There is also the option to eat dinner in the Resturant and use the Mork and Mindy style egg capsule loos which really are unique. Prices range from £5-£15 for breakfast choices. A much recommended place to dine in the heart of London.
GLENEAGLES In early November I was lucky enough to head up to the beautiful Gleneagles in Scotland on a 2 day trip. Hosting the 2014 Ryder Cup, and home of The Best Restaurant in the UK Andrew Fairlie at Gleneagles. The Gleneagles Hotel 速 has everything in a luxury UK resort. The facilities are amazing, main house luxurious and the surrounding landscape just beautiful.
NOZOMI FOR
NON FANCY DRESS
HALLOWEEN
I
always avoid the whole dressing up facade that goes with Halloween (boring I know) and thinking about it, I have never once been on a night out in fancy dress. So instead of a Halloween party as such, I decided to go for some exquisite Japanese food at Nozomi in Knightsbridge with Alize. Probably the best Japanese food I have ever eaten, we ate Fois gras sushi, black cod and a range of fresh sashimi and forgot it was Halloween at all. Fabulous.
W
hilst there, I took advantage of some of the activities including Mini Golf (managed to not hack the green at all using a child's set of golf clubs) Archery (pretended I was Robin Hood) and Horse Riding in one of the best European indoor Equestrian Centres. There were other activities such as shooting, fishing and falconry which I would have loved to have tried if I'd had more time. For a day of activities, I went to explore the spa for some serious relaxation. I tried out the Aromatherapy pool, Rainforest Shower and Relaxation Room (where I fell asleep for 2 hours and woke up to find I was late for dinner.) Eating in Andrew Fairlies 2 Michellin Star Resturant, recently voted Best Resturant in the UK by The Times, was a very unique experience. The food was exceptional, and included seven brilliant courses ranging from his signature Lobster, to Lamb 3 ways, to finishing with a Chocolate Hedgehog! (No actual hedgehog included.) Each course was served with a delicious wine to compliment. The ambience within the resturant, decor and service was by far the best I have ever recieved internationally. Who says you should go abroad for holidays when we have so much to offer right here in the UK with such fabulous resorts as Gleneagles, Scotland. You must try for the weekend.

Never underestimate the possibility of ‘model agencies’ that exaggerate how much they can do for you.
INI BARD M O L LLA ISABE
F
or most of us, considering any obstacles along the way are sometimes not as obvious at first when you’re an excited but inexperienced aspiring model. It’s vital that these factors need to be considered for you to stay as safe as possible when pursuing your modelling career in such a fast paced industry.
If something sounds too good to be true, then that could be just the problem. They will tell you what you want to hear, as that’s their way of luring you in. If you have to pay fees to sign up to the agency, I highly advise not to join. Trustworthy agencies will tell you how difficult the current market is for models and that it will start off with many obstacles along the way.
2
Beware of the scouting martians.
Although well established and respected agencies still occasionally find new faces on the streets and in public places, it’s very rare that they will actually take a day out to do that – it will most likely be if they are in the right place at the right time. Question any unheard of agencies that come to you on the street and tell you that your appearance is ‘just what they are looking for’. Now, don’t rule them out completely, do a bit of background research to check they are genuine – you don’t want to miss out on an opportunity, but you don’t want to be fooled either. Take their number and don’t give them yours.
3
Do your research.
Once you’ve established yourself at a reliable agency as one of their models, stay attentive. Go online and research a client or photographer, so you know what they’re about . You should always be interested in their company or business on the day.
4
Avoid companies with no address or contact number.
A genuine agency will always have a base to work from, meet with clients and potential new faces for their books.
5
Let people know of your whereabouts.
It’s always a smart move to tell a relative or friend the full address of the location you are working in. If necessary, tell them to call you half way through – for confirmation that everything is fine. Become street wise. You will become accustomed to travelling to different cities and countries and start to feel more confident.

P O T THE
10 “Oh, the life of the beautiful people. The fascination, the parties and events, the travelling, the lifestyle, and the acquaintances met.”
6
Always read any contract before signing.
You don’t want to discover any hidden surprises a few weeks in when you realise you were too caught up in the moment to read the contract fully. Make sure you read from start to finish to ensure you have positive experiences, not uncomfortable and unexpected ones. Question anything you are unsure of.
SAFETY
TIPS FOR MODELS
7
Smart models know when to say no.
Don’t be afraid to turn a job down if you feel you will be uncomfortable doing it. Only agree to jobs that you want to take part in. Also, never let your agency pressure you into saying yes to a company whose morals you don’t agree with. A great model is a wise model.
8
Take advertisements in local newspapers or magazines looking for models with a pinch of salt.
“
Most reputable photographers and companies will have a website to distribute their work for anyone to see.
”
Legitimate agencies do not tend to advertise on media platforms such as the Internet, newspapers, social networking sites etc. to find new faces.
9
Always determine what genre of model you are before you begin attending any castings.
Are you a petite model? Plus size? Only interested in editorial work or more comfortable walking the catwalk? Or are you a lingerie or glamour model? It’s fundamental to decide what genre you fit into from the wide variety that is available for companies to choose from today. You don’t want to waste time and money heading over to a casting if you are nowhere close to what they are looking for.
10
If under the age of 18, always bring an adult to accompany you.
Travelling alone and going to castings can be quite daunting. Having someone to keep you company makes a huge difference. Some bookers at castings can be quite intimidating and it’s comforting to be with a family member or friend who can keep your thoughts positive.

e f i L y M of
Saturday September 22nd 2012 to some was just another day but for me it was the beginning of a whole new chapter, a whole new life, a whole new me- it was the birth of Fay Louise Hill. It was my wedding day.
I
started dating Callum officially in June 2008 and after just one month we were living together and purchasing our first home. It was a whirlwind romance full of the most beautiful, treasurable memories. In 2010, on my 24th birthday in Antigua, Callum popped the question, and I of course joyously said, ‘yes’. We set about planning our wedding and two years to the day later, we got married. No-one ever could prepare me for how I would feel leading up to our big day- the love, the joy, the nerves, the worry and
36
Every Model Magazine
needless to say, the stress. Yes, weddings are stressful to organise. We had already said if we were going to get married then we were going to do it properly and in our eyes, we did. But people tell you constantly, ‘It is your day. It’s just about you and Callum’, which is true but we had also set ourselves up to organise the perfect wedding for us and 150 people, and as a perfectionist, everything had to be spot on. Our wedding celebrations kicked off on the Friday 21st with a large group of our closest friends and family who joined us at a spa hotel. Callum spent his last day as a Bachelor playing golf and spending time with his friends, and me; I spent a very emotional day in the spa, topped off with my last meal as Fay Bacon with the Bacons. I then concluded the night with one of my finest memories, my best friends from school came to my room to help me write my speech. They always say it is those nights you least plan which you enjoy the most, and this was one of those nights. We sat reminiscing on the old times, laughing and crying as women do, and generally just having fun. For someone who doesn’t drink I ended up consuming a bottle of prosecco and was consequently put to bed by my maid of honour. I woke early on my wedding morning and ran to the window to see what the skies were saying. To my astonishment I was greeted by a pink and blue haze with the sun breaking through, a clear message from above that our Nannies and Grandads were blessing our marriage. I started singing, ‘Going to the
Photographs by Alan Strutt and Anthony Michael
chapel and I’m going to get married!’ It was at this point I also realised I had a hangover but didn’t care! Our perfect day took place in the stunning venue, St Augustine’s Priory in Bilsington surrounded by the most gorgeous Kent countryside. The Priory shone for me when I arrived early on the Saturday morning with my parents to prepare. I actually couldn’t believe I was so lucky to be marrying my perfect man at our perfect place; it was just overwhelming. The morning transcended and time passed by quicker than any day had ever passed before. I felt like I was living an outer body experience the whole time; I couldn’t believe that the day I had been dreaming of not just for the past two years but forever was here. I knew my fabulous hair and make-up artist Jay and her lovely Mum Audrey would be arriving shortly and despite having the job to get my hair prepped for styling my emotions were preventing me from getting anywhere with anything! Midday rolled around and I was set to walk down the aisle at 13:30. It was at this point one of my closest friends and work colleagues arrived, Alan Strutt. I have known Alan since I was nineteen and he has the natural ability to relax me. I set about giving him jobs to do, to the point he even slipped me in to my exquisite Slanovskiy, Swarovski encrusted wedding gown and put my lavish Christian Louboutins shoes on! In between taking photos, of course, alongside our other fabulous UK Model Folios’ photographer Antony Michael and Videographer, Costas Constantinou. What a dream team, hey?
My wedding morning wasn’t what I anticipated. Here I was walking around with my iPad and checklist of everything that needed to happen, getting irate as it seemed no-one had followed my second-by-second wedding plan, my Dad had left his shirt and cufflinks I had specially bought him for the day at the hotel, and then it hit me, whilst a wedding can be planned to every last detail, emotions can’t. The bottled up emotion I felt as I listened to my wedding tracklist in the background made me cry, my Mum and Dad felt like they were losing their only daughter and baby, and all I ever wanted was happening. The feeling was too much for us all. It seemed seconds later my Daddy was walking me in to the chapel. My florist gave my stunning bouquet a last minute touch-up and greeted me. It was at this point I thought I actually may turn into a butterfly as there were so many in my belly. Everyone had his or her phones out trying to get a snap of the bride. Seeing my angel nephew being such a good little boy, holding on to my bridesmaids’ hand set me off again but I knew I had to hold it together, this was my moment. As I stood at the foot of the aisle ready to walk toward my perfect groom I suddenly felt calm. My entrance song, Adele’s ‘One and Only’ played in the background and I realised the tears had gone now, something was saying, ‘This is so right’. Once I reached Callum I threw my arms around him and managed to hold it together for our most magical service. The next thing I knew we were married and signing the register to the sounds of ‘Etta James, At Last’. We exited the chapel followed by our wedding

party to the Romeo and Juliet soundtrack, ‘Everybody’s Free’ by Quindon Tarver, and then the photos began. I had previously done a photography plan, which in my idyllic bridal world was going to flow perfectly with guests assembled, all looking at the camera, smiling in unison but things didn’t transpire that way. I didn’t take in to account that not just Callum and I but everyone else were going to be on ‘Cloud Hill’! But when I took a step back I realised that was just perfect because everything Callum and I had wanted from the day had already been achieved. The adults were more interested in catching up over yummy canapés and mojitos than taking pictures and the children were off running wild. And so, this is when having first-class photographers come in to play. Alan and Antony set about capturing the real atmosphere of the day- the love between our families and most importantly, Callum and I as we genuinely are as a couple. Our photos truly reflect our deep love, us relishing in our moment, and me being a slightly bossy wife. It was these photos I have to say, we both love the most.

My advice for future Brides and Grooms is to invest in top class photography for your wedding day because they are the moments you will never get back. Callum and I were blessed because we were able to utilise my company and our photographers, Alan and Antony. It was also the icing on the cake to have one of our pictures published just recently in Hello! Magazine, but aside from this, it is not just setting up the shot that makes a good photographer, it is catching the atmosphere, being able to adjust to any weather conditions lightingwise and making you and your guests feel at ease. Our photographers became part of our wedding day and totally added to the best day of our lives.

TRACIE GILES Gloss and Go Treatment Review
NICHOL BY KIRSTY
BEAUBRONZ
Review Having formerly competed in the world of beauty pageants, I’ve always been partial to a bit of fake tan.
I
’ve tried all sorts of tanning products from DIY bottles promising to give me a natural glow gradually, to instant tanning lotions that despite my best efforts always come out streaky. I find a spray tan is the best way to eliminate the streaky problem however it is inevitable that regardless of whether the orange stuff is coming from a bottle or a highend spray machine, the biggest fake tanning drawback is the smell. So when Ruth asked me to write a review for the latest spray tan Beaubronz I thought I knew what I would be writing before I even booked the appointment. Surprisingly my tanning preconceptions were eliminated as soon as the Beaubronz process began. The system involves three steps, starting with the Exfoliese exfoliating spray which not only eliminates dead skin cells but moisturises too. Everything is done in the salon so there’s no need to prep yourself before you go for the treatment. The exfoliation is also gentle and all the ingredients in the range are natural, so kind to even the most sensitive skin. Then the natural tanning
solution is applied, you can choose which shade you would like, so those of you preferring a deeper tan will be just as happy as those who prefer a sunkissed glow. The final step is the hydrating tan lock, which is a moisturiser that locks in the colour and smells amazing. Finally I left the salon after a spray tan and didn’t smell like a biscuit. The colour looked natural, didn’t turn patchy and lasted a whole week. More importantly at only £38 for the whole treatment it’s a great price for such a high end product. No wonder it’s known as “the couture tan”. www.beaubronz.co.uk
Having never had permanent make up before I was excited if not a little nervous to try the Gloss and Go treatment for lips from permanent make up specialist Tracie Giles.
M
y nerves were completely dispelled as soon as I walked into the clinic in trendy Knightsbridge, I was greeted by Tracie herself and Pauline who took me through a consultation to discuss the type of look I was after as well as taking a few photos of my lips. The Gloss and Go treatment is tailored to each client depending on the type of look you want, whether you want fuller and plumper looking lips or a more natural look. The consultation itself was a revelation as I never noticed that one side of my lips was shorter than the other. The treatment begins with pencilling the shape in with a lip pencil to check you are happy with the overall look. If unlike me you are after a more specific look you can look through the colours or even bring in your favourite lipstick and they will match it up. You can also go for a lighter colour initially and then if you want to go a bit darker you can in the follow up appointment which should be booked within 12 weeks after the first treatment alongside an annual retouch to ensure the colour is maintained. I went for a more natural look and just from the pencil being applied couldn’t believe how different my lips looked.
When the permanent application began, an acupuncture needle with mineral pigments was applied to match the pencil outline. The procedure is amazing, not only does Gloss and Go evenly shape your lips it also shades the whole lip to provide a more equal colour all over. The application is perfectly comfortable as anaesthetic is applied to minimise any discomfort and permanent makeup only penetrates the first layer of skin. The whole procedure only took two hours yet the colour can last for several years. Aftercare is also really simple, lots of Vaseline and no saunas for the first few days. Within two days after the treatment my lips flaked as I was told they would but they were back to normal by the third day to reveal a fuller and more even lip that still looked natural. Between 20 and 80% of the colour can fade but for me the colour seems to have been well maintained and my lips now have definition whilst still looking natural. Prices start from £575, head to www.traciegiles.co.uk for more information or to book your appointment.

NATURES BEST, PURE FISH OIL 1100MG
40
Every Model Magazine
USN PROTEIN FUEL 50 RTD SHAKE It has long been established that immediately post workout is the best and most effective time to consume protein, and carbohydrate. Often enough it is completely inconvenient to eat a wholemeal tuna salad sandwich while you’re still at the gym (especially if you train early in the morning) so a ready to drink protein shake is a convenient solution. USN protein fuel 50 is really tasty (my favourite is vanilla), it contains 50 grams of quality sourced protein and 10.6 grams of BCAAs (branch chain amino acids) which are the building blocks of protein. It is great post workout as it has 20 grams of carbs which come from the natural sugars found in milk and so will not create a spike in your insulin levels. Be sure that you drink it cold though, as no one likes milk served at room temperature.
NATURE'S BEST FLAX SEED OIL 1000MG Flax seed oil is a really concentrated source of alphalinolenic acid (ALA) and the body converts this into omega 3 (EPA and DHA) as I mentioned before. A little known evolutionary fact is that women metabolise flax seed oil better than men. This is possibly because thousands of years ago when humans were hunter gatherers, it was the women who did most of the gathering while men did most of the fishing and hunting. So the majority of the calories that women consumed came from sources such as seeds and fruit. Natures best flax seed oil is a quality omega 3 supplement, and is vegetarian friendly.
NATURES BEST ORAC 10,000 Oxygen radical absorbance capacity (ORAC) is a method of measuring antioxidant capacity in biological samples.
Š Netris
By now everybody has heard that omega 3 is good for you, and supplements containing it are more and more popular. But why? Fish oils contain the omega-3 fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), these are known to reduce inflammation throughout the body, and have other health benefits. These fatty acids are found in your retina (part of your eye),and in your brain too and as we can't make omega 3 ourselves we need to consume them. Omega 3 oils also help to reduce ldl cholesterol in your blood, and help the body to use it's own stored fat. Omega 3 also helps to balance the body's hormonal system, and can have a positive impact on mental health. The list goes on and on and on, so I won't bore you too much with the ins and outs of why you may benefit from supplementing with omega 3, but it is important to note that not all omega 3 fish oil capsules are alike. You need to ensure that you buy a product that has high levels of the active ingredients EPA and DHA, such as Nature's Best which actually states on the label how much of each they contain...Great!

FOODS HIGH IN ANTIOXIDANTS Here is a list that the United States department of agriculture tested of foods that are high in antioxidants. (The number next to each is the orac score. The higher the score, the more antioxidant)
It is a sad fact that as we go through life we age. This is partly to do with “free radicals” which oxidise the molecules that make up our cells, organs, and well...us. Free radicals are damaging, they can cause ageing, and have been linked to cancer amongst other things. Some things that cause a rise in free radicals in the body are... • SMOKING • Alcohol • Sunlight • Sun beds • Exercise (the healthful effects of exercise far outweigh any harmful effects of the free radicalsit produces) You can fight the effects of these oxidising free radicals, it is important to have a diet that contains high levels of antioxidants.
Food ORAC scores - USDA Food Serving size ORAC • Unprocessed Cocoa beans: 100 grams, 28,000. • Chokeberries: 100 grams,16,062. • Small red beans: ½ cup dried beans, 13,727. • Wild blueberries: 1 cup, 13,427. • Red kidney beans: ½ cup dried beans, 13,259. • Pinto beans: ½ cup, 11,864. • Blueberries: 1 cup (cultivated berries) 9,019. • Cranberries: 1 cup, 8,983. • Artichoke hearts: 1 cup cooked, 7,904. • Blackberries: 1 cup (cultivated berries) 7,701. • Prunes: ½ cup, 7,291 • Raspberries: 1 cup, 6,058. • Strawberries: 1 cup, 5,938. • Red delicious apples: 1 apple, 5,900. • Granny Smith apples: 1 apple, 5,381. • Pecan nuts: 1 oz, 5,095. • Sweet cherries: 1 cup, 4,873. • Black plums: 1 plum, 4,844. • Russet potato: 1 cooked, 4,649. • Black beans: ½ cup dried beans, 4,181. • Plum: 1 plum, 4,118. • Gala apple: 1 apple, 3,903. • Pomegranates: 100 grams, 2,860 Natures best orac 10,000 would score highly on this list, having more antioxidant benefits than a cup of blueberries. So if you don’t feel like your diet is high enough in antioxidants, this is a great suppliment to take.

The EM advice guide for child modelling Child modelling can be an exciting experience for your child but it is imperative that you fully research how the modelling industry works before considering putting them forward for any work. There are a number of factors to consider as this is a big decision for you and your child. As your child will require a parent or guardian present at all times it is important to recognise that you will be as much needed time and commitment wise as they will. If you are in full time work this may present a problem for you. Before you start it is worth considering the following; • Does my child want to be a model? This is the ultimate question to be asked. It is pointless wanting your child to model if they are not interested or don't want to. • Am I ready for my child to be a model? • Does my child take direction well? • Is my child well-behaved around people and in particular other children and people they do not know? • Can I give my child's modelling enough attention and commitment?
The child modelling advice EM recommends you follow... Do your research How do you know if an agency is reputable? With the UK’s modelling industry unregulated, there are a growing number of scams out there. If an agency is accredited by the Every Model Board this would be a good start. Just because an agency appears to be large with a lot of child models on their books, this does not guarantee their reputability. There are a number of small, select agencies who operate in a reputable, safe and professional manner. The key is to ask about examples of work the agency has done. If they cannot or will not provide you with this, our advice is to avoid them completely. An agency is only as good as the work it has done. 42
Every Model Magazine
Have a look at an agents website We recommend that a child model agency has secure password areas for images of your child. It is illegal for agents to charge an upfront or joining fee.
Child licensing laws require your agent to register your child with your local council If your agent does not seem to know about this then they would not be considered a reputable organisation. Any person under the age of 16 or
in full time education must be licensed to work in the modelling or entertainment industry.
organisations. Check the agency has a website, contact landline telephone number and address.
You will need professional pictures for an agency to promote your child However when applying to agencies in the first instance professional photographs are not required. Wait and see if your child is suitable for modelling before spending any money on photographs.
Your child will be required to attend castings to audition for jobs This may mean time away from school. You will need to decide if this is something you are comfortable with. Modelling castings invariably take longer than you may anticipate so always leave enough time before and after the audition to ensure you are fully available.
Modelling agencies take a commission for jobs they source for your child This is usually at a rate of 25%. It is important for both you and your child to understand this is a competitive industry and that for every accepted job there is likely to be a lot more rejected ones.
It is considered reasonable upon signing your child to an agency that you pay a fee for test photographs We recommend a fee no higher than ÂŁ150 as an acceptable industry standard for this purpose. Be very cautious when applying to adverts in newspapers or magazines. These can often be scam
If your child is then selected for a modelling job it is important that when you attend you do not interfere in the production of the job As a parent, you are required to be there for your child. However, unless asked by a member of staff, it is advisable stay in the background. In order to gain repeat work and a continued career in the
As children grow and change so rapidly it is important that the pictures you are using to represent your child are current and accurate Adding work done to your child’s portfolio is crucial. Clients are impressed by experience of a childs previous work and also demonstrates that they have the skill set they require.
modelling industry your reputation is everything. And for child modelling that is of both the child and the parent or guardian who attends.
