THE EVOC STORY
Together we´ve travelled the world for many years constantly searching for perfect trails and the best powder descents. We have discovered many fantastic spots and perfect runs even in the most remote locations on this planet. It wasn´t always easy finding the right equipment for our trips. It was particularly hard to find backpacks and bags on the market that met our requirements. So our solution was to make them ourselves! This is how we started developing and producing equipment that

met our requirements, initially only for ourselves and our friends. The result was a range of high-quality, sophisticated products with refined details and clever features – that looked good as well. What we had not expected was the increasing number of people who wanted our gear.
comfort and safety. We still travel the world as much as we can with our sports equipment – meanwhile, often also with our business gear. In doing so, we test all our products ourselves and we invest a great deal of time and energy in optimizing our solutions down to the smallest details.
So, in 2008, the idea of founding our own company was born.
We communicate our passion for sports and for what we do in every product. That’s why EVOC products are always a bit more than just pieces of equipment.
Since then a lot has changed for us, but then again very little has changed. We continue to focus on uncompromising quality, functionality and durability to set the standard in terms of design,

Photographers always strive to capture the perfect moment of action in an ideal setting. No matter the sports discipline: When commitment and passion meet perfection, time seems to stand still. Action sports photography has always been an integral part of EVOC’s history, and it soon became obvious that there was no way around developing our own PHOTO backpack collection.

Hokkaido, Japan, 8 January 2014: It’s minus 15 degrees Celsius and a strong wind is blowing. At least it has stopped snowing for a few minutes so visibility has become a bit better. We have struggled our way through seemingly bottomless powder snow to reach this spot to produce a classical powder picture in one of Japan’s typical birch

PERFORMANCE BACKPACKS TECHNOLOGY
NEUTRALITE CARRYING SYSTEM Designed for ambitious to professional use, the new NEUTRALITE SYSTEM is a carrying system for high-capacity backpacks, which means that even heavier loads can be carried in a more balanced way and as comfortably as possible for a longer period of time. Back adaption and weight distribution are guaranteed by the shapeable stabilising element on the inside, which transfers the weight onto a wide, thickly padded hip belt (01) via segmented and strategically positioned padding elements. In this way, the weight is absorbed
as neutrally as possible at the body’s centre of gravity. Exceptionally wide, well-padded, ergonomically shaped shoulder straps (02) with a deep cut-out around the neck keep the backpack in position at all times and prevent it from slipping and sliding even during high-performance activities. Practical cut-outs in the spinal region ensure unrestricted freedom of movement of the vertebrae, while preventing weight distribution onto the sensitive back area.
AIR CIRCULATION SYSTEM The AIR CIRCULATION SYSTEM is featured in all our PHOTO/CAMERA backpacks, because it guarantees perfect ventilation even during high-sweat and high-strain activities, and at the same time prevents the sensitive kidney area from cooling down too much. Lateral cut-outs along the channel enable even more air to flow out. In addition, the padding along
the sides of the back has been reduced to further optimise air outflow. However, the sensitive back area is protected against lateral wind thanks to the padding of the NEUTRALITE SYSTEM. Not only do the pads form the channel to facilitate vertical ventilation, they also protect the wearer from horizontal air inflow and cold kidneys.
AIRO FLEX AIRO FLEX is an extremely durable fabric that is both air-permeable and flexible. We use this material in our highest-quality hip belts, where it ensures excellent load distribution to the hips as well as maximum ventilation – for superior wearing comfort. 12

So far Derek Frankowski’s career could be divided in two parts. Before 2010 when co-created Life Cycles, a film that has changed the action sports films landscape, and after. Before he was happily shooting still images for the top MTB brands and magazines around the globe. During that time he was able to produce some of the industries most icon images and push the public’s awareness of the young sport. While shooting photos Derek embarked on a 5 year journey with Ryan Gibb to
16
produce the film Life Cycles and was his first project behind a moving pictures camera. Now his work reflects this new direction and he’s exploring the possibilities in other genre’s. Working with top global brands he’s pushing the 4K visual language and exploring the potential of motion picture content. “My work habits and gear reflect my roots shooting stills in action sports. I learned to carry all my
gear on my back to produce the images I wanted. With moving into the cinema world I’m trying my best to preserve that ability and flexibility to work as much as a “lone wolf” as possible. The EVOC bags allow me to pack and protect all the gear I use when headed into the field….sometime a old growth forest and other times a NHL arena. I consider my work to be very thoughtful and I like my equipment to emulate that. EVOC does that with their designs”.

Markus Greber is a famous, prize winning sports photographer from Germany with many publications over recent years. Dreaded for his straight working discipline he never comes home without a great shot. “What fascinates me most in action sports photography is the continuous change of settings. The weather, light situations, models, landscapes – no matter how the
situation is, the demand for the photo quality is always high. This is a constant challenge for me and my equipment. I need a robust and ergonomic backpack which is small and lightweighted, that carries all needed gear to partly very remote locations and works in even the roughest conditions – either on muddy trails in the woods or on rocky paths high up in the alps.”

Baschi Bender loves high mountains and exposed locations. He is known to create perfect shots in hair-raising surroundings and is not discouraged by alpine approaches with rope and crampons. “Outdoor photography is tough, uncomfortable and exhausting. But it brings you to the wildest and most beautiful places on earth – and that is what it’s all about. However, if you want to use highly fragile cameras here, you need the right carrying gear with perfect protection properties and the right ergonomics for quick access. In the backcountry it is all about the functionality of all features. Because, only if you always have a working camera at hand, you can capture the perfect moment that makes a perfect picture.” 24

ere I was shooting with my colleagues from Legs Of Steel in St. Moritz, Switzerland, on a perfect blue bird day where fresh powder snow still lay on the ground. We were filming at a somewhat smaller face. Below that, Thomas and I found a rock: It was like the perfect natural kicker. I did a flat 3 – it all went well from my point of view but I jumped out of the photographer’s frame so I had to do the same thing all over again. When I jumped the second time, everything worked out: the trick and the photography. -Sven Kueenle, professional freeskier

EVOC PHOTO PRO
RICHARD WALCH GER EVOC TEAM SINCE: 2008 DISCIPLINE: SNOW SAILING HOMETOWN: AUGSBURG BAVARIA
Richard Walch is one of the first widely published German snowboard photographers and is famous for his picture aesthetics. Today he still works in the snow but is also a sought after photographer for sailing. I like to shoot strong elements like snow and water. I’m specialized
in sailing photography in summer and ski/snowboard photography in winter. Very often the most difficult part of a shooting is to even reach the location. That’s why I need a backpack for my equipment. It needs to have a perfect fit so I can snowboard with it and a high degree of protection for my camera – even if I crash. An ultra fast access
is mandatory for me so I can grab my gear in the middle of the slope. The challenge is to never stand still – you need to develop your photography just like the sport evolution never stops. Nature becomes most interesting if the conditions get rough. To be able to still get the shot – that’s what I like.

hen the Enduro World Series kicked off in Chile, we seized the opportunity to take some shots in the amazing local mountain scenery since it is usually a real challenge to find so many good EVOC riders in one and the same location. This photo was taken in Nevados de Chillan at 2500 metres above sea level: it was not that warm, the trails were rather technical and we were surrounded by dozens of steaming sulphur springs. You’d better know what you are doing up there, and you’d better take the right equipment! The day was almost over and we’d hoped for a bit of sun. But quite often it’s during bad weather that you come across the most exiting motifs. Far away and for a few seconds only, a sole sunray broke through the clouds and lit up the colourful mountain ranges around us. Julia Hofmann and Tobi Woggon immediately grabbed their bikes and once more surfed along this dream of a trail. Et voilá: a really cool mountain bike shot! MATERIALS
THE MATERIALS USED TO MANUFACTURE OUR PRODUCTS ARE EXCLUSIVELY SELECTED OR DEVELOPED BY US: We concentrate on polyamide (“Nylon”) for all our bags and backpacks, because it is the lightest, most durable and abrasion-resistant type of material available.
We adapt the thread gauge and the coating of every fabric according to each product’s specific requirements. We use PU-coatings to gain maximum waterproofing – also
a very wear-resistant and robust material that is not susceptible to temperature changes.
NYLON 420/D, PU COATED This Nylon has slightly thicker threads which make it the perfect outer material for all backpacks and bags that require a higher degree of abrasion resistance and durability without a lot of extra weight. The ideal material for our photo bags.
NYLON 210/D RIPSTOP, PU COATED The demands for the perfect outer material of a backpack can be summed up in four characteristics: durable, abrasion resistant, water repellent and very light. This is exactly what our Nylon 210/D Ripstop offers. A double PU-coating of the lightweight nylon base provides moisture protection and wear resistance. A micro texture of filaments segments the basic fabric into tiny squares to prevent rips – hence the name Ripstop.
NYLON 840/D, PU COATED This Nylon has slightly thicker threads which make it the perfect outer material for all backpacks and bags that require a higher degree of abrasion resistance and durability without a lot of extra weight. The ideal material for our products.
BALLISTIC NYLON 1680/D, PU COATED Our most durable Nylon for the most exposed areas which are most subjected to stress. Its increased thread gauge (1680 Denier) makes it an extremely abrasion and tear resistant material that improves durability in highly stressed areas (e.g. corners and edges) drastically.
48
MATERIALS
P 600/D, PU COATED A very durable fabric for high-abrasion areas, it is also tear-resistant and lightweight while absorbing almost no moisture. Combining these characteristics, it’s the perfect material for high-stress pockets or backpack base constructions.
NYLON 210T TAFETTA PU 1500MG WR For our waterproof backpack raincovers and safe pouches we employ this high end polyamide with PU coating.
AIR MESH Air Mesh is equipped with fine pores for excellent air circulation and does not absorb moisture. This makes it perfectly suited as a ventilating cover fabric for the back parts of our protector backpacks.
3D AIR MESH This three dimensionally structured fabric with variable thread sizes (P75D*30D) offers the optimal properties in ventilation and cushioning for the covers of paddings and shoulder straps.
ATILON PE-FOAM A highly-developed foam which offers excellent support and damping properties despite its reduced weight. Atilon is our first choice in all product areas where protection and comfort play an important role.
49
MATERIALS
TRANSPARENT TARPAULIN Particularly tough and tear-resistant, waterproof material, which is transparent as an added bonus. Ideally suited for compartments in backpacks and bags that are exposed to high strain while also providing an excellent overview, for instance when it comes to the small parts compartment for tools.
AIRO FLEX A nylon fabric (fish bone structure) offers great flexibility and uncompromising durablity as well as outstanding breathability, making it the perfect material for use in our highest-quality hig belts.
NYLON WEBBING An extremely strong material, it excels in flexibility and low weight. Durability and tear-resistance are achieved by interweaving particularly strong yarns. The material’s sleek surface provides for a comfortable next-to-skin feel, making it the perfect choice for the use in our CAMERA STRAPS.
TPU Both durable and elastic, TPU impresses with minimal wear and tear. It’s a tasteless and odourless material without PVC or BPA that we used for our HYDRATION BLADDER.
