Local Area Greenwich is a London neighbourhood like no other. Draped along the River Thames, it’s a town that’s chock-full of beautiful maritime architecture, tree-lined Georgian avenues and wonderful verdant parkland. At its vibrant heart, the buzzing town centre has a raft of unique and independent shops along with one of the capital’s best market scenes, including a wonderful indoor hall and a series of outdoor food, craft and vintage bazaars. Famously the border of the eastern and western hemispheres, Greenwich rose to prominence during the 1600s as the main London port for the Royal Navy and merchant shipping. With so much of that sea-faring flavour still in evidence today, it’s no wonder that Greenwich is one of London’s most sought after places to live.

Eating With the sheer variety of food from different countries, you can eat your way around the world without ever leaving the neighbourhood. Go for a brilliant curry at Mogul, grab some tapas at San Miguel, or take in the Latin-American vibe and food at Hill. For something more formal try the Rivington Grill, sister to the Shoreditch original, or perhaps Inside, dubbed “one of the greatest neighbourhood restaurants in London” by Esquire. There’s more gastro goodness up the hill at Blackheath, including the restaurant and microbrewery Zero Degrees, and the breakfasting institution that is Hand Made Food.

Shopping Whether a piece of latest fashion and footwear, a second-hand Victorian diver’s brass helmet, vinyl rarities or vintage accessories for your home, you’ll find them all in Greenwich.
