BRAFA Art Fair will make its great return to an on-site version of the fair from January 23rd - 30th, 2022, for a colourful comeback event! The Guest of Honour will be the Belgian artist Arne Quinze, who draws his inspiration from the beauty of nature. Each of his creations is preceded by a meticulous and admirative observation of the large wildflower garden that surrounds his studio, located in the small village of Sint-Martens-Latem, which was formerly the centre of Flemish Expressionism. Born in 1971, Arne Quinze is a Belgian contemporary artist, painter, and sculptor. His work ranges from small drawings and paintings and medium-sized sculptures to massive installations. He began his career in the 1980s as a graffiti artist. He has always questioned the role of our cities and began a quest for cities to become open air museums. His work quickly evolved from Street Art to Public Art with the recurring themes of social interaction, urbanisation, and diversity. What drives Quinze is the belief in the possible achievement of an idealistic society where all individuals would communicate and interact, aiming to bring people together and push them into a vigorous dialogue. His unconventional public installations have challenged perceptions in the city centres of Belgium (Cityscape, The Sequence, Rock Strangers, The Passenger), Germany (The Traveller), France (Camille, Rock Strangers), Lebanon (The Visitor), China (Red Beacon), Brazil (Matarazzo), and the USA (Timegate, Whispers, Scarlet), among others. BRAFA Art Fair farà il suo grande ritorno in una versione in presenza della fiera dal 23 al 30 gennaio 2022, per un colorato ritorno agli eventi! Ospite d'onore sarà l'artista belga Arne Quinze, che trae ispirazione dalla bellezza della natura. Ciascuna delle sue creazioni è preceduta da un'osservazione meticolosa e ammirata del grande giardino di fiori selvatici che circonda il suo studio, situato nel piccolo villaggio di Sint-Martens-Latem, un tempo centro dell'espressionismo fiammingo. Nato nel 1971, Arne Quinze è un artista, pittore e scultore contemporaneo belga. Il suo lavoro spazia da piccoli disegni e dipinti a sculture di medie dimensioni fino a enormi installazioni. Quinze inizia la sua carriera negli anni '80 come artista di graffiti. Ha sempre messo in discussione il ruolo delle nostre città e ha iniziato la sua ricerca affinché le città diventino musei a cielo aperto. Il suo lavoro si è rapidamente evoluto dalla Street Art all'arte pubblica con i temi ricorrenti dell'interazione sociale, dell'urbanizzazione e della diversità. Ciò che guida Quinze è la convinzione nel possibile raggiungimento di una società idealistica in cui tutti gli individui comunicherebbero e interagirebbero, con l'obiettivo di unire le persone e spingerle in un dialogo attivo. Arne Quinze’s sculptures come into being after numerous personal encounters with the unbridled beauty of nature. They symbolise his reflection on today’s growing differences between the diversity of nature and the ongoing expansion of monotone cities. While continuously unravelling the physical processes of complex demographies, they react to all impulses to keep an equilibrium resulting in a play of attraction and rejection that shapes the organic forms and electric bright colours. At first glance they seem vulnerable, but they will persist in a vigorous dialogue, just like nature. In each of Arne Quinze’s recent works, we encounter a seemingly chaotic confrontation between individual le (Matarazzo) e Stati Uniti (Timegate, Whispers, Scarlet), tra gli altri. Mentre i processi fisici di complesse demografie si dipanano continuamente, essi reagiscono a tutti gli impulsi per mantenere un equilibrio, creando un gioco di attrazione e rifiuto che modella le forme organiche e i colori luminosi, elettrici. A prima vista sembrano vulnerabili, ma persisteranno in un dialogo vigoroso, proprio come la natura.

elements that form an integral part of a biotope that is created in laboratory conditions and multiplies organically. The variety of colours and forms is as wide as the viewer’s imagination. The artist depicts a society as a coherent and intact ecosystem, a sampling of nature, which is his chief inspiration. In this way, the sculptures and installations call for a retention of diversity and pluralism, for experiment and cross-fertilisation. This is a clear indictment of the present trend towards monocultures and soured relations. Bringing people back together again: according to Quinze, this should be the ultimate goal of public art. As in his artworks, and as in nature, cities should aim for a symbiosis of numerous organisms, which in turn fuel conversation and consequently the conservation of their future. With his garden as a scale model, an explosion of life with the rampant splendor of flowers, the pursuit of variation and diversity is both a statement and a leitmotiv that runs through his work. They call him the guru, the legend, one of the greatest experts. An essential point of reference for the most prestigious international luxury watch brands. For 45 years, Beppe Ambrosini has been an entrepreneur and an expert manager of some of the most sought-after objects of desire: wristwatches. In Italy, he was at the head of prestigious brands such as Piaget, Corum, IWC, with the role of General Manager. In September 2021, he ended his career as an executive of the Richemont Group. He is still a member of the Board of the Laureus Italia Foundation (which deals with children from difficult outer-city backgrounds between Milan, Rome and Naples, and of which IWC is a global partner) Lo definiscono il guru, la leggenda, uno dei massimi esperti. As a keen observer, what is the current situation in the luxury watch industry?

Until a few years ago the motivation was the pure passion for these objects and their mechanisms, while today collectors are no longer necessarily amateurs or connoisseurs, but also investors. The pandemic has emphasized this trend, to the point that today we are talking about a real rush to buy prestigious watches that are not always enjoyed or worn, but also jealously kept in a safe. We have gone from passionate to rational buying, with a view to pure investment, both for iconic brands such as Rolex, Audemars Piguet, Patek Philippe, and for independent brands such as Richard Mille. For some models the prices, in certain cases, have quadrupled, with considerable peaks in international auctions. An example above all is the PP Nautilus 5711, green dial, which at Antiquorum auction house was sold for 416,000 euros, with a list price of 30,400 and an auction base of 50,000 euros.

Which are the best performing countries today?

China, the United States, Hong Kong, and Japan; Italy is in tenth place.

What does the future have to offer?

Exclusivity, tradition, historical brands. Big investors will increase more and more.
