Introduction The theatres are in the midst of a period of rapid fundraising growth, prompted by the £27.3m redevelopment of the Everyman and the award of £240k from Arts Council England’s Catalyst Fund. Fundraising for the new Everyman began in earnest in 2010 towards a private fundraising target of £2.1m. The Everyman, however, will be much more than a building and our vision is to bring it alive with new work and talent through a £500k fund, therefore increasing our total fundraising target to £2.6m. To date we have raised over £2.1m towards this, through a combination of charitable trusts and foundations, major gifts and individual donations. In 2012 we launched a public appeal, incorporating two telephone campaigns, which has recruited over 1000 donors. Our priority is to raise the final £500k required to complete the funding required for the Everyman and Talent Fund through our programme of major gifts and sponsorship solicitation as well as the continuing public appeal. Alongside this, the opportunity to secure match funding approved through Arts Council England’s Catalyst Fund will see a re-launch of the theatres’ Business Membership scheme and, following the opening of the Everyman, the conversion of donors towards the capital project and Talent Fund to a new regular supporters’ scheme. The opening of the Everyman in early 2014 adds both urgency and excitement to our case for support. Success in our fundraising ambitions will ensure that these theatres have a strong future and can continue to create great theatre, nurture emerging talent and support our community.
