The Head of Regular Giving will lead on the development and management of an extensive, award-winning regular giving programme at the largest campus-based University in the UK. Building on a strong foundation of support from thousands of alumni and friends worldwide, the post holder will take principal responsibility for the range of solicitation approaches

Develop a regular giving data strategy to ensure fundraising appeals are directed to priority potential donors and are cost-effective. Oversee any relevant data tasks which will enable increased personalisation of approaches to alumni in order to further build relationships, acquire new donors, and retain and upgrade existing donors.

Identify and assess progress against a series of agreed benchmarks in order to measure the impact and success of activities undertaken. Benchmark the regular giving programme against the best programmes in the UK and worldwide, attending networking meetings and away days where required.
•
Manage the strategic disbursement of all regular giving income across the institution, consulting senior colleagues across campus and preparing expenditure proposals for approval by the Regular Giving Strategy Group.
•
Establish and lead a network of University colleagues interested in regular giving and provide strategic advice and consultancy, to ensure a co-ordinated strategy for agreed regular giving campaigns in the faculties, schools or cultural assets.

Represent The University of Manchester in national and international Higher Education networks related to regular giving to develop contacts, benchmark against national and international peers and to learn from models of best practice. Where appropriate, present on suitable topics at relevant conferences, to showcase the University’s work.

JOB DESCRIPTION KEY RESPONSIBILITIES, ACCOUNTABILITIES OR DUTIES •
Prepare and manage detailed budgets for DDAR’s regular giving activities and actively monitor the response and return on investment of different solicitation methods to ensure effective targeting of budgetary resources to meet agreed targets for participation and income.
•
Manage, coach and develop the work of all direct reports. You will be required to monitor each individual’s performance, identify training needs and deliver mentoring to maintain professional and quality standards.
•
Oversee and approve all campaign written material, including brochures, flyers, calling scripts, fulfilment packs; liaising where necessary with university colleagues in the donor communications team, the University’s design team, external agencies and mailing houses.
•
Liaise with members of the DDAR Operations team to ensure a consistent and accurate approach to data management within the office, as well as ensuring compliance with the requirements of the Data Protection Act, Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the Fundraising Preference Service (FPS) and The Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR)
•
Working in consultation with the Senior Donor Relations Officer, develop and oversee a stewardship strategy for regular donors through regular updates and the coordination and collection of feedback.
•
Lead on the development and implementation of donor-related policies, systems and processes acknowledging the University’s responsibilities to its donors and upholding the University’s policies on the ethical acceptance of gifts and management of benefactions.
•
Contribute to the major gifts and alumni relations activities by identifying potential leads from the regular giving programme and communicating information to the appropriate DDAR colleagues.
•
Develop and deliver a strategy to increase the number of “mid-value” donors to the University, with the support of colleagues across the division.
•
Work alongside the Head of Development and donor communications colleagues to embed the University’s legacy giving strategy into the regular giving programme.
•
Advise on areas for growth within the team, lead on the recruitment of new posts and utilise this growing resource to build a culture of regular giving and philanthropy among all supporter groups – alumni, nonalumni, students and staff.

Undertake other such duties as may be required from time-to-time by the Head of Development to assist the work of the Division more broadly.
