Introduction The Hospice of St Francis was established in 1979 and cares for more than 1,000 people with serious or terminal illness in Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire each year. We also support the friends and loved ones of those we care for. The Hospice of St Francis is a registered charity receiving around 20% of its funding from the NHS. We rely on the generosity of our local community to fund the remaining 80% of our costs. This comes from many individuals, local businesses, trusts, schools, community groups, our shops, our lottery and Gifts in Wills. With the opening of our new health and wellbeing service, The Spring Centre, in 2013 we aim to double the number of people we care for by 2015/16. We aim to particularly support people who have been recently diagnosed with a life-limiting illness - people who might not traditionally consider accessing hospice services. This role is an integral part of our income growth strategy and presents some excellent opportunities to develop major gift fundraising for the Hospice.
