Introduction Working in 50 developing countries across Africa, Europe and the Americas, Plan aims to reach as many children as possible, particularly those who are excluded or marginalised, with high quality programmes that deliver long-lasting benefits by increasing its income, working in partnership with others and operating effectively. The Global Partnerships Team provides strategic support and direction to all offices across Plan with the development of new and existing global partnerships which align to the One Plan strategy. The GPT works to improve the way Plan is set up to engage effectively with the Private Sector through creation of new and updated frameworks, policies, systems and processes, which align well to the new role of the Global Centre (Plan’s former International Headquarters). The post will provide strategic direction and support to Plan’s existing global corporate partnerships as well as leading on developing new opportunities that leverage both financial and non-financial resources in alignment to One Plan. They will work closely with the Head of Global Partnership Support providing key input and insights to new policies, frameworks and processes for corporate partnerships, ensuring moving forward that Plan is better placed to engage with the Private Sector.

Job Description Typical Responsibilities/deliverables: 1.
Provide strategic direction and support to a portfolio of existing Global Partnerships
(several with multiple stakeholders
operating in multiple countries), ensuring

maximum partnership
impact to Plan
Provide technical and strategic advice in the management of corporate partnerships, ensuring the partnership is fully integrated within Plan, all opportunities are leveraged and the partnerships bring maximum value for all stakeholders; Represent Plan International at key external stakeholder meetings and workshops for the partnership, often with CEO, MD and Board level corporate representatives; Deliver on-going coordination on global partnership activities and liaison between National Offices (NOs), Country Offices (COs) and Regional Offices (ROs); Work closely with other global teams including Global Communications and Policy, Advocacy and Campaigns to help ‘internationalise’ partnerships, identifying key global internal and external platforms to help increase Plan’s positioning around Corporate Responsibility, using these partnerships as key case studies; Develop and implement a ‘Rules of Engagement’ model for the GPT’s role in existing global partnerships; Provide ongoing risk management support, leading on resolving conflict between both internal and external stakeholders where relevant.

Play a lead role in developing new global Private Sector opportunities in the GPT priority areas of ‘Because I am a Girl’ (BIAAG), Youth Employment Solutions (YES), Disaster Risk Management (DRM) and Digital Birth Registration (DBR), leveraging both financial and non financial resources in support of Plan’s work.
Network effectively at high level global Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability workshops, conferences and forums, making new contacts, often at Director or CEO level; Working with NOs/COs/ROs develop the partnership effectively and strategically, promoting the concept of ‘shared value’, ensuring robust frameworks and governance structures are in place, and the partnership brings maximum value to all stakeholders; Provide guidance on the due diligence process, and where needed convene and advise the Corporate Council (made up of senior leadership across Plan) for decision making on contentious partnerships; Represent Plan International at global pitch meetings and have face to face contact with senior external stakeholders where needed; Provide liaison and coordination between NOs, COs and ROs in the process of developing new partnerships; Integrate a cost recovery model into new partnerships, accounting for appropriate GPT costs; Define a ‘Rules of Engagement’ model for GPT’s role in the development of new partnerships.

Play a lead global account management role for select non financial global partnerships that support increased organisational capabilities and capacity for Plan. a.
Develop and manage select global partnerships that leverage relevant
expertise, knowledge, technologies, innovation and
gifts in kind in support of Plan’s work; b.
Act as the key contact with the Corporate partner and develop long lasting and effective relationships with senior staff;
c.
Work cross departmentally with Department Directors on projects where companies are lending their expertise relevant to their department;
d.
Support work to improve the accounting and value of non financial resources from Corporate partners.

4.
Provide key advice and support on all aspects of Private Sector Engagement to all National Offices, liaising and working closely with GPT thematic leads on BIAAG, DBR, DRM and YES. a.
Through provision of support build capacities at NO,CO and RO level in partnership engagement;
b.
Build effective, trusted relationships with NO staff engaged with Corporate Partners (includes Corporate Partnership Managers, Fundraising Directors and National Directors);
c.
Create relevant mechanisms to answer day to day corporate partnership enquiries from NOs;
d.
Create a comprehensive FAQ document on general partnership related questions, to improve efficiencies;
e.
Promote knowledge management and sharing of best practise across all offices;
f.
Provide liaison with the relevant leads on BIAAG, DRM, DBR and YES to NO Corporate Partnership Teams.

5.
Working with the Head of Global Partnership Support, provide key input and insights into GPT Global Strategies, Standards, Frameworks, Systems and Policies, supporting the new role of the Centre within the organisation. a.
Provide input and peer review to all new Corporate Partnership related Strategies, Standards, Frameworks, Systems and Policies that are created by the GPT. This will include (but not limited to) the revised Corporate Partnerships policy and Ethical Guidelines, the Global Partnerships Team strategy, Employee Engagement guidelines, Knowledge Management systems (including an annual global conference), a Country Office Training programme, Learning Exchange programme and toolkits.
b.
Play a key role in rolling out the above and ensuring successful adoption and compliance of these documents.
6.
Lead the Corporate Partnership Nordic Network, supporting Plan Nordic offices to work together to be more strategic, collaborative and effective in their Private Sector Engagement. a.
Chair calls and meetings providing leadership and guidance to the Network;
b.
Identify and support the development of relationships with new Nordic companies to support Plan’s work;
c.
Share best practise, key information and updates across the Network.

Dealing with Problems: The role requires a high degree of independence, and involves considerable demonstrable expertise in negotiating the complexities of multi-national corporate engagement, enhancing collaboration between Plan offices and developing the capacity of Plan staff worldwide. The successful candidate will: apply his/her direct knowledge of how to resolve difficulties within external relationships (both at the initiation stage and throughout the lifecycle of the partnerships); successfully secure buy-in of multiple stakeholders despite conflicting objectives; respond to internal challenges, in particular how to secure adequate resources from various Plan offices (technical and account management) to support corporate partnerships; and deliver consistent and effective capacity-building within a challenging, multi-cultural environment while supporting the offices.
