Introduction A small but significant number of Veterans leave the Armed Forces with psychological wounds. These can lead to depression, phobias, anxiety, relationship problems and, in some cases, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Combat Stress works with Veterans of the British Armed Forces, and members of the Reserve Forces, through effective treatment and support for mental health problems. Everything that we do is free of charge to the Veteran. Our work is made possible through statutory, non-statutory and voluntary fundraising. We simply couldn't do what we do without the generosity of the Great British public.
Strategic Direction Our Vision is that Veterans will be able to live free from the harmful effects of psychological wounds. Our Mission is to provide timely, effective clinical treatment and welfare support to Veterans who suffer from psychological wounds. In order to realise this we must •

Clinical Strategy To develop our clinical services so that all veterans can access, for psychological or psychiatric need, care that is delivered to the highest professional standards at the appropriate time, the appropriate level and in an appropriate setting. We carried out an examination of current provsion, identified strengths and weaknesses and the future needs of veterans and came up with the following clinical objectives.
Clinical Objectives •
Ensure that the services which the Society provides are capable of meeting the full range of needs in the veteran population

Improve veterans' access to our services nearer to their own homes
•
Develop the skills of our clinical staff to ensure that care in all its settings is delivered to the highest standards
•
Develop partnership and collaborative arrangements with the NHS and other organisations that enhance the quality and quantity of care available to veterans in the system as a whole
•
Contribute to research and development through strong output measurement
•
Identify unmet needs and work to develop provision in response to Alcohol and PTSD

Job Description Key Responsibilities •
To help develop the current portfolio of trusts and grants.
•
To assist the Trusts and Foundations Manager in developing and delivering successful funding applications.
•
Liaise with key team and individuals to identify the funding needs to generate suitable asks, and to relate grant applications to budgeted spend.
•
Network and build relationships across Combat Stress to accurately and persuasively articulate the work we do.
•
Ensure trust income is recorded accurately on Raisers Edge.
•
Ensure records and details of all trust activity are up to date on Raisers Edge.
•
Assist the Trusts and Foundations Manager in monitoring and evaluating plans for trusts, making any necessary adjustments as directed.
Customer Focus •
Build and maintain relationships with key influential individuals.
•
Build relationships with trustees and grant manager to ensure they receive a positive experience and develop their commitment to Combat Stress.
•
Respond to queries promptly and efficiently.

Communication •
Keep up-to-date with developments and trends within the field of fundraising, lottery and statutory bodies.
•
Assist the Trust and Foundations Manager in delivering dynamic presentations to a variety of audiences.
Team Working •
Work closely with the fundraising and communications department to research, develop and deliver new projects.
•
Maintain good relationships with other departments within Combat Stress, namely Finance and Operations.
Risk Management As an employee of the Society you are required to be risk aware, readily able to identify risks faced by you and by the Society in the course of your day-to-day employment. Where a new risk is identified it is to be reported through your line manager.

Person Specification Knowledge & Skills Essential •
6 - 12 months experience working within a fundraising environment.
•
Knowledge of trust fundraising
•
Professional target driven approach.
•
Understanding of good supporter care.
•
Able to gather and interpret information to help produce grant applications.
•
Financially and numerically literate.
•
Accuracy and attention to detail.
•
Experience of creating and delivering presentations to a variety of audiences at all levels.
Desirable •
At least 6 months experience working within Trust fundraising.
•
Knowledge of portfolio management.
•
Experience of presenting to and engaging with officers and trustees of grant awarding trusts.
