Scope:
To manage, control and develop the fundraising database activity throughout the Fundraising Division with in the Legion. Ensuring efficient and effective use of the database system. This is a management role where vision, personnel and technical skills are of equal importance. You will lead a service function that all teams and members of the fundraising division will be deeply involved.
Background:
The Fundraising team raise over ÂŁ40m from voluntary donations per year. The Division is split into five operational teams

Job Description You will be responsible for the management of the fundraising database and the database team. You will set the operational objectives and implement the delivery strategy. To manage all outputs delivered by the database team, including; data quality standards, security, data protection, data hygiene, import and export routines, data selections, use of predictive modelling, statistical analysis, and training levels to agreed specifications and deadlines. To prioritise, manage and develop the database system to deliver the Legion’s fundraising and supporter communications objectives. Develop the processes and procedures for the system through regular performance review and management. To build and develop professional working relationships throughout the Legion and particularly with the fundraising heads of department, in order to maximise database marketing opportunities and improve the effectiveness of the Legion’s fundraising, marketing and communications activities. Ensure the effective management of the data flow into and out of the database and the data interfaces with other systems. To line manage, motivate and develop the Fundraising Database team. To facilitate, manage and build effective and professional working relationships with external suppliers to ensure smooth delivery of services. To manage budgets, controlling costs whilst maximising process efficiencies. In conjunction with the Legal team; to advise fundraising, marketing and communications colleagues on relevant data protection legislation using the Legion relevant frameworks and policies. To keep the Head of Direct Marketing, key stakeholders, suppliers and the Database Marketing team fully informed in a timely manner of all issues impacting the delivery of Database services. Qualified to degree level or equivalent Previous team line management experience within similar IT or Database or Data administration environment. (min 2 years)
Previous database management experience, preferably within a large, multi-user environment Experience within a marketing and or fundraising environment Experience of large system introduction and set up.
Exposure to direct marketing modelling and statistical tools (SPSS or SAS) Previous experience of geo-demographic classifications (MOSAIC or ACORN) Experience of data protection legislation
Experience of budget setting and managed expenditure 3rd party supplier management experience and Service level agreement (SLA) management
