Candidate Information Pack Executive Director of Alumni Relations & Development Trinity College Cambridge
Letter from the Master Dear Candidate Thank you for your interest in Trinity College. Trinity has recently developed a systematic and ambitious programme for engaging with our 15,000 alumni and is starting to see a significant uplift in participation rates and in donations. Our programme has two major aims: - to seek donations in support of our educational and charitable aims. Although Trinity College is the largest and richest of the Oxbridge Colleges, the income available to the College is not substantial by US standards. Indeed our best students and academics are being increasingly attracted to the US through offers of full scholarships, research support and attractive facilities. We are therefore seeking donations for these purposes; of our plans for facilities, perhaps the most exciting is our plan for a multi-functional building for lectures and events on the banks of the river. - to create a wider Trinity community by connecting our alumni with each other, with our students and with the leadership of the College. Among our activities, we have established a programme of social and professional events for our alumni in Cambridge and elsewhere; we have also set up programmes in some areas for mentoring of students by our alumni. In the last two years we are been engaging more effectively with our entrepreneurial alumni, who last year helped shape our plans for a science incubator on the Science Park (the Bradfield Centre which is now under construction). Next year we hope to create an internet site for our alumni so that they can readily keep in touch with each other, including the ability for individuals to update their own contact details and news of their lives and careers. More generally, we need to establish in Trinity College, as in the US institutions, a culture of philanthropy among our alumni. With a small team of staff, and in consultation with the Master and the Chair of Alumni Relations and Development, the Executive Director will take responsibility for embedding a culture of philanthropy among our alumni, and enabling significant philanthropic income growth at Trinity. This is an exciting opportunity with immense potential, and we welcome your application. Sir Gregory Winter Master

The successful candidate will join one of the world’s leading academic institutions to lead a well-run and effective office with the potential to raise gifts at a transformational level. This is a career-defining opportunity for an outstanding major gifts fundraiser.
