Letter from the Chief Executive Dear Candidate, Thank you for your interest in St Elizabeth’s Centre and the exciting opportunity presented by our Head of Fundraising position. St Elizabeth’s enjoys a national reputation as a centre of excellence and expertise specialising in supporting people with disabling epilepsy, or other related complex needs and learning difficulties, to have every opportunity to lead their lives to the full. Over 90% of our income is generated from fees payable by Education, Social Services and Health authorities for clients placed into the care of our School/ Children’s Home, FE College and Adult Care Services, all with nursing support. However we look to voluntary fundraising to help finance aspects of our services not covered by fee income and particularly for various new development/building projects, both small and large, e.g. a £2.25m College/Day Centre opened in May 2013; a new £125k school playground just being finished in January 2017 or a seated sun canopy area costing less that £10k for adult residents engaged in our on-site horticultural projects, to be installed this Spring. We are currently awaiting planning permission for a £6.5m programme to build four new bungalows and refurbish nine others which will provide a major focus for the fundraising team over the next 6-8 years. Thus this post is hugely important to the Centre in helping achieve our vision for the future and improve services and facilities for clients. It will be a challenging and exciting role for an ambitious individual, leading a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, (over 100 in our eight charity shops!), to ensure we have the financial base to achieve our objectives, helping St Elizabeth’s remain a centre of excellence going into the future. I hope you take the chance to see what a special place this is, and I wish you luck with your application. Yours faithfully James Connolly Chief Executive

Fundraising at the St Elizabeth’s Centre The St Elizabeth Centre has a strong income base but would like to expand its fundraising capacity to finance new projects and provide great new opportunities for our users. In particular, the charity would like to provide a wider range of specialist living facilities within its residential service. To that end, a number of new building works are already in the planning stages, to provide more comfortable living spaces for individuals with diverse and complicated needs. With £1.5 million already pledged, the Head of Fundraising will be responsible for raising at least £500,000 annually from Trusts to support the new building projects. The charity is aiming to raise around £6.5 million within the next 6 to 8 years and so this is a critical appointment. Reporting to a newly appointed Director of Finance, who starts in April 2017, the Head of Fundraising will lead an excellent fundraising team of staff and volunteers. The staff comprises a Grants/Corporate Fundraising Officer, an Area Charity Shop Manager, a Volunteer Coordinator, and a Fundraising Database Officer. This is an excellent opportunity for a talented fundraiser to to take on an exciting leadership position and make a real, lasting difference to the St Elizabeth’s and the people it serves.
