WELCOME LETTER
Nottingham Trent is a forward-looking, ambitious and entrepreneurial university, and 2017 has been an exceptional year for us.
Being relatively new to the University myself, I continue to be impressed by the level of professionalism and ambition, as well as the warmth, of my colleagues.
Winning “Modern University of the Year by the authoritative Times and Sunday Times 2018 guide is the latest in a string of prestigious accolades that give external recognition to our achievements.
This is a career defining opportunity to play a pivotal leadership role in fulfilling our mission to change lives and society.
Indeed, it is rewarding to see key initiatives in our Strategic Plan, Creating the University of the Future, starting to bear fruit and enabling us to serve our students and society better.
As a senior member of the DARO Team, the Head of Alumni Relations and Regular Giving will have an opportunity to create a sectorleading programme and drive a step change in alumni and community engagement across the University.
If our plans excite you, we look forward to hearing from you. Magdalena Douleva Director of Development and Alumni Relations
As we prepare to celebrate our 175th Anniversary next year, embark on a major philanthropy campaign, and launch a new alumni and community engagement strategy, it is a particularly exciting time to be joining the Development and Alumni Relations Office (DARO). DEVELOPMENT AND ALUMNI RELATIONS In August 2014, Professor Edward Peck took up the post of Vice-Chancellor. Under Professor Peck’s leadership, the University has developed and launched a fresh institutional strategy that will embrace the opportunities and address the challenges presented by the new environment for higher education. The University is investing more than £24 million in the delivery of this strategy. As part of this, it is also looking to ensure appropriate capacity and capability at senior level to drive forward on the implementation. Our new strategic plan, Creating the University
of the Future, calls for a step-change in our fundraising and alumni and supporter relations. Following a review of our external engagement in 2016, the University Executive Team approved additional investment in strengthening the Development and Alumni Relations Office (DARO). Magdalena Douleva was appointed Director of Development and Alumni Relations in 2016, to lead an ambitious advancement programme

DARO is part of the Employer and Economic Engagement (EEE) directorate, formed following the appointment of the Pro-Vice Chancellor EEE, Michael Carr, in late February 2016. The work of this directorate directly supports the strategic themes of Creating Opportunity; Valuing Ideas and Enriching Society.
