JOB DESCRIPTION KEY RESPONSIBILITIES, ACCOUNTABILITIES OR DUTIES Campus-wide strategic planning, policy development and consultancy •

Lead on strategy development and implementation across the DDAR working closely with Deputy Directors and SMT. Ensure effective strategic objectives and operational plans are in place across all teams to deliver philanthropic and engagement outputs and outcomes.

Provide high level support and consultancy to the University Senior Leadership Team and colleagues across the University as a ‘resident expert’ on all aspects of information management, prospect research, gift processing, Data Protection and Freedom of Information.

Be the DDAR Information Governance Guardian and represent the Division on relevant University committees and boards. Ensure DDAR has relevant, robust and effective policies and processes for data management, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.

Provide the Director, SMT and University senior leadership team with high quality business and management information, ensuring that management information on DDAR progress is regularly analysed and reported on in an accurate, efficient and timely manner, with clear action-planning taking place in response to management information.

Lead the University’s due diligence and gift acceptance process, ensuring high quality information provided and deputise for the Director at the Gift Oversight group meetings when required.

Ensure the fundraising and alumni engagement programme is informed and improved by continuous learning from data analysis, external benchmarking tools such as ICARS, the RossCASE Survey and the CASE Development Services Survey.

Represent the University nationally and internationally, including through the Council for the Advancement of Education (CASE), ensuring external recognition for the University in the area of Development Services, to support the profession as a whole, but also to keep abreast of new innovations and best practice and to use this insight in strategic planning and implementation.

JOB DESCRIPTION KEY RESPONSIBILITIES, ACCOUNTABILITIES OR DUTIES Leadership and managing resources •

Effectively lead a high-performing Development Services team, setting ambitious team and individual objectives, supporting and inspiring people to achieve them, creating an energised team and championing individual development.

Ensure that the Development Services team provides an excellent level of internal and external customer service, responding efficiently to queries in a timely and positive manner working with colleagues to find solutions.

Ensure robust processes for gift administration to ensure a positive supporter experience and to ensure relevant and appropriate information is recorded to enable effective management reporting.

Ensure robust processes for the storing, analysis and controlled sharing of alumni and supporter data, in accordance with Data Protection regulations and guidance.

Provide strategic direction for development of the alumni and supporter database (currently Raisers Edge), alumni engagement systems and platforms. Maintain a strategic relationship with key vendors and collaborate with colleagues in other universities to influence product development.

Lead the Development Research team to ensure the provision of a stream of qualified prospects, supported by accurate, high-quality information to provide the best possible opportunities for the Development team.

Direct the Development Research Manager to ensure an up-to-date, coherent and comprehensive framework for gift oversight and due diligence, providing papers for the Gift Oversight Group as per the groups’ terms of reference.

Monitor and ensure best practice in financial administration across the Division, ensuring full compliance with the University’s Financial Regulations, HMRC guidance and Charity SORP.

Lead the Office Coordinator to ensure effective health and safety plans and processes are in place and routinely reviewed, the reception provides first-class customer service for alumni and visitors, and new starters receive a consistent and high quality induction.

Oversee the effective management of the DDAR annual expenditure budget, currently £5.3M, working closely with the central finance team.

Work collaboratively with senior colleagues in IT Services to ensure that DDAR derive the greatest benefit from University IT developments and services in IT services, championing the DDAR strategy in order that ITS colleagues understand and support the strategic objectives.

Embody DDAR’s values, leading by example to build a culture and processes that enable innovation and thoughtful risk-taking.

Undertake national and international travel as required and undertake other such duties as may be required from time-to-time by the Director of Development.
