average of 30% in the past three years;
Head of Philanthropy at Classics for All. Classics for All is a young but fast-growing charity which aims to introduce Classics to state schools. Established in 2010, we have supported over 700 primary and secondary schools, reaching more than 40,000 pupils. We run a lean organisation, adding overheads only when required. This new appointment is part of our strategic growth plan to keep up with school demand. We currently operate with 2.6 fte: in addition to the full-time role of Executive Director we have a Programme Director and Administrator. We are supported by a large number of active volunteers with a wide range of expertise. Our committed board of ten Trustees bring a breadth and depth of experience in education, business and finance. They are led by our dynamic Chairman Geoffrey de Jager, an active philanthropist and former successful entrepreneur.

we have invested in our staffing and developed 12 regional classics networks which will underpin our programme’s continuing growth throughout the UK. Classics for All provides a tremendous opportunity for philanthropists who wish to make a difference in pupils’ education, whether through a personal love of Classics or a more general concern about raising the aspirations and attainment of students in state schools. This role will suit someone with a background in major individual donor management who is comfortable dealing with senior level executives, high net-worth individuals and company directors. A background in Classics is not required but would be an advantage; the successful candidate will demonstrate an interest in and empathy with teaching in state schools. I look forward to hearing from you. Jules Mann Executive Director

CfA is the only organisation that offers both primary and secondary schools comprehensive advice and support on developing Classics. We work with many high profile national partners, including the National Union of Teachers, universities, the Classical Association and publishers to promote and develop our work. We have developed 12 regional classics networks across England, Wales and Scotland, each of which is reaching out to more schools in their area.
