In 2013 the Independent Schools Inspectorate awarded Sevenoaks School the rare accolade of ‘Exceptional’ for its students’ achievement. Sevenoaks was also the highest performing fully co-educational school, and the one with the largest cohort, in The Sunday Times Parent Power’s top 50 fee-paying schools for the IB in 2015. In November 2017 Sevenoaks was, for the second time in 10 years, awarded The Sunday Times Independent School of the Year. This excellence is achieved by bright, motivated students, inspired by highly qualified and dedicated teachers in well-resourced classrooms. The School has over 150 teaching staff, well supported by a large number of professional ancillary staff. A professional pastoral team of specialist tutors, boarding house staff and year heads give care and guidance, promoting student welfare and happiness. The mutual respect shared by students and staff generates a harmonious and purposeful atmosphere.
SEVENOAKS SCHOOL Over the next few years we will be working to achieve our aims by continuing to focus on the core areas of the curriculum and co-curriculum, developing our campus, improving our boarding facilities, providing more bursaries, expanding our educational outreach programme and professional development, and continuing with fundraising and networking to connect and position the school.
Learning, Teaching and Living At Sevenoaks School we approach learning, teaching and living in the spirit of the International Baccalaureate, whilst appreciating that academic learning is important but not the only measure of success. As part of our strategic focus on the future, we aim to maintain and strengthen our position as a world-class position IB school, but more than that, as a leader in education and innovation. There are two elements to this. First comes our vision for the curriculum, strongly influenced by the IB. Our unique curriculum is designed to provide coherence, balance and breadth, generating an appetite for learning and discovery in our students, and encouraging them to develop strong cultural awareness, a determination to be an influence for good, and a capacity for work, leadership and collaboration.
At the same time we continue to develop Sevenoaks School as an institution of international standing and outlook, occupying a unique position in the UK educational landscape. Achieving these two strands depends on maintaining our expertise in teaching, and continuing to achieve strong examination results, university places and workplace success. In each of these areas we encourage variety and individuality, both characteristic of a Sevenoaks education.

Continued success also depends on maintaining and articulating our particular spirit of liberal internationalism; a curriculum built around the International Baccalaureate and our own Middle School programme, a powerful service ethos, a distinctive educational influence and a truly cosmopolitan student body.
In September 2017, we launched three new Institutes within the school: The Institute of Teaching and Learning, The Institute of Higher Education and Professional Insight, and The Institute of Service and Entrepreneurship. These Institutes are all headed by a team of expert teachers and staff and will support the longer term aims of the school.
SEVENOAKS SCHOOL Academic Achievements GCSE/IGCSE - 2018 In 2018 the new GCSEs graded 1–9 were introduced. The highest grade 9 was harder to achieve than the previous A*, in a tougher, revised GCSE exam system. While for many schools in England most of their GCSEs will be graded 1-9, Sevenoaks School students take a mixture of GCSEs, IGCSEs and SSC (Sevenoaks School Certificate) where most results are graded A*-G. In the four subjects that were graded 1-9 (English, Maths, Latin and Greek), we are delighted that well over half of the grades received were a 9, and 92% of the examinations taken by the 150 candidates were awarded A* or A grades (9 to 7 equivalent). 122 students (over 81%) gained 9 or more A* or A grades (9 to 7 equivalent).
International Baccalaureate At 215 students, our IB cohort in 208 was among the biggest of any IB school in the world, and together they achieved the remarkable average diploma score of 39.5 points (ten points above the world average, 29.8). Our median is 40, and the mode, for the 2nd year running, is 44 points. Twelve students achieved the maximum 45 points, with 26 securing 44 points and another 22 securing 43 points. Over 53% of the cohort achieved 40 points or more – a truly excellent result.

The Campus The School is situated in the Kent market town of Sevenoaks, and has a prime position at the top of the High Street. The 100-acre site, which includes a number of listed buildings, is beautifully landscaped and adjoins the medieval deer park of Knole. London is only a 30-minute train journey away. Gatwick Airport is also only 30 minutes away, and there are good transport links to other London airports and the Channel Tunnel.
The School’s first-class resources and facilities include a superb sports centre (The Sennocke Centre) opened in 2005. A state-of-the-art performing arts centre (The Space), which provides four outstanding venues for music and drama, was opened in 2010. Recent major projects include a new Science & Technology Centre and a Sixth Form Global Study Centre which will both be officially opened in November 2018. New boarding accommodation is currently being developed and should be ready for occupation by 2019.
SEVENOAKS SCHOOL FOUNDATION Sevenoaks School Foundation Office was established in 2002 with the aim of supporting the advancement of the School effectively through fundraising for major capital development, widening access through bursaries and ensuring the financial independence of the School through the development of an endowment. The Foundation is also responsible for the donor stewardship programme, the Old Sennockians (alumni) programme of events and communications, and the Sevenoaks School Foundation Arts Society. The Foundation Team The Foundation team has a broad and challenging remit to cultivate and steward goodwill within the School community in Sevenoaks, the United Kingdom and throughout the world. Much has been achieved by the Foundation team over recent years, working in close collaboration with the Head, Governors and Trustees, Senior Leadership Group, staff, students, parents and alumni.
The Head and School Governors are currently updating the School’s strategic statement, Horizon 2032. This strategy will define the goals and priorities for the Foundation as the 600th anniversary of the School approaches in 2032. This strategy builds on the success of the campaign for Sevenoaks School which in September 2018 surpassed its target of £15 million. The Foundation team also has a number of major initiatives planned for 2018/19 including a £50K upgrade of the ThankQ CRM database, a new online platform to improve digital engagement with Old Sennockians and a bespoke stewardship programme for Foundation Benefactors and School Patrons. This will place the Foundation in the strongest possible position to take forward an ambitious new phase of the campaign from 2019.
