in partnership with

LETTER FROM THE CHIEF EXECUTIVE Thank you for taking an interest in the role of Director of Philanthropy at The London Clinic. We are London’s largest independent hospital. Based on Devonshire Place and Harley Street, The London Clinic is at the heart of leading healthcare. We are a charity that is now looking for our first Director of Philanthropy who will work with the senior management team and the Board of Trustees to deliver our purpose of advancing healthcare. Our ambition is to be the most trusted hospital and to deliver more outstanding outcomes to more patients and we want to do that through investment in technology, patient services, staff education and facilities.

Until now, our investments have been financed through revenue from procedures and bank investments. We are looking to complement that model through active fundraising, something that the Clinic has not previously undertaken. Along with our Board of Trustees, I passionately believe that we can make a significant difference to patients and the healthcare community with a new focus on philanthropic fund raising. The London Clinic is an exceptional and unique place to work and I hope that you are motivated to join us. I look forward to seeing you during your interview. Al Russell Chief Executive

THE LONDON CLINIC Situated in the heart of London’s medical community, The London Clinic is an independent, standalone hospital, offering one of the most comprehensive range of services of any private hospital in the UK. Granted charitable status in 1935, the hospital has been committed to reinvesting its financial surplus to help improve healthcare for patients and the wider healthcare community ever since.

In its recent history, the Clinic has made significant investment into its infrastructure, from the purchase and refurbishment of consulting houses to the construction of a new hospital wing, a brand new Intensive Care Unit and a new Digestive Diseases Unit. The Clinic’s future plans include the refurbishment of its theatre suite and the purchase of new radiology equipment.

While the London Clinic is a hospital and a business, first and foremost it is a charitable institution. Supporting not only patients and staff, the hospital also collaborates with NHS hospitals, universities and charities to manage clinical trials for new medicines; trains NHS staff, including junior doctors; advances medical research; offers free counselling therapy and palliative care and is the largest stem cell collection point in Europe. The hospital is also proud to pioneer innovative technology, for example the use of deep brain stimulation to treat patients with Parkinson's disease and the cutting-edge Navio technology to revolutionise knee replacement surgery.

The London Clinic’s style of working is one of its key strengths, it cares about the safety and wellbeing of its patients and its staff. It is pioneering in its pursuit of better ways of working, and aims to be inspiring to its staff, its patients and their families.

The London Clinic’s Executive Board of directors manage the day to day running of the hospital and develop plans for its future development. The Chief Executive is supported by seven directors, each with a focused role to ensure the Clinic delivers exceptional quality of care. The London Clinic is now recruiting its first Director of Philanthropy, entering a new and exciting phase in its history of charitable status.
