Tennessee is one of the most important must-visit destinations in the world for whiskey enthusiasts. The Volunteer State, renowned for its own style of whiskey, offers a close encounter with history, craftsmanship and flavor that is worth the journey. In one whiskey-filled day, it is possible to visit three of Tennessee's biggest and most celebrated distilleries: Jack Daniel, Cascade Hollow and Nearest Green.

Begin your day early in the quaint town of Lynchburg, home to the worldfamous Jack Daniel Distillery. Stepping onto the premises is like taking a step back in time, with its age-old charm, sprawling grounds, and antique buildings Your tour guide will lead you past the spring that is used to make every drop of Jack. Learn about the mellowing process, where the whiskey is filtered drop by drop through ten feet of sugar maple charcoal, which is what gives Jack Daniel's whiskey its distinctive smoothness Then, head on to the bottling building for a fascinating insight into the maturing process, and end your tour in the barrel house with a sampling of Jack's different products.

A quick drive through the scenic Tennessee countryside brings you to Tullahoma, the home of Cascade Hollow Distilling Company, known for its George Dickel Tennessee Whisky. A smaller, more intimate experience compared to Jack Daniel, Cascade Hollow is nestled in a picturesque valley and prides itself on doing things "The Dickel Way." This includes chilling the whisky before charcoal mellowing, a unique process they believe makes their spirit smoother During the visit, sample a variety of whiskies in the beautiful tasting room overlooking the distillery's natural spring water source.

The last stop of the day is in Shelbyville, the location of the Nearest Green Distillery

Named after Nathan "Nearest" Green, a former slave who taught Jack Daniel how to make whiskey, this distillery stands as a tribute to his enduring legacy in Tennessee Whiskey's history It is a newer establishment compared to the others, but it is steeped in history and tradition. The tour showcases the whiskey-making process and presents a compelling story of Nearest Green’s contributions. Tasting their premium whiskey, matured in charred white oak barrels, provides a perfect end to your distillery visits.

Three distilleries in one day may seem like a lot, but the proximity of Lynchburg, Shelbyville and Tullahoma makes this a feasible and exciting endeavor. The countryside drives connecting these towns provide a refreshing glimpse of Tennessee's rolling landscapes, dotted with farms and small towns Visitors can explore the unique charm of each town and enjoy dining and shopping, too

One of the best parts about this whiskey trail adventure is finding affordable lodging in the area. Both Manchester and Tullahoma offer a variety of accommodations that are significantly less expensive than big city hotel rates, whether it is a charming bed and breakfast in Manchester that provides a cozy, home-like feel or a comfortable, budget-friendly hotel in Tullahoma

A day exploring Tennessee's biggest distilleries is more than just a whiskeytasting tour; it is a journey through history, culture and the art of whiskey making This whiskey adventure is a trip that offers both value and a memorable experience. If you are a whiskey lover looking for your next adventure, Tennessee's Whiskey Trail awaits you, and if you have a few extra days to spare, check out some of the other great distilleries in the region!

Visit Camp Blount

In the midst of the United States second war with Great Britain, civil war broke out amongst divided factions of the Creek Indian Nation in September 1813.

At Fort Mims in Alabama, Red Stick Creeks attacked friendly Creeks and the American Militia on August 30, 1813, leading to a bloodbath for soldiers and family members who dwelt within the fort. As a result, President James Madison called for the Tennessee militia and volunteers to destroy the threat that the Red Stick Creeks posed

Spanning from late September until early October 1813, General Andrew Jackson assembled thousands of Tennessee soldiers at Camp Blount, located in Fayetteville in Lincoln County, Tennessee

Notable people in attendance included future governor William Carroll as well as General John Coffee (a close ally of Jackson) and legendary frontiersman David Crockett. Additionally, Dr. McKinney, a Fayetteville native, also volunteered.

The militia assembled at Camp Blount marked the beginning of a campaign that ended in the obliteration of the Red Stick forces at Horseshoe Bend on March 27, 1814.

farm Crossing Creeks Farm

Shelbyville, TN

"In December of 2012, our family purchased 125 acres located in south central Tennessee, Bedford County. With no permanent driveway, two creeks to cross to access the land, barbed wire fence everywhere and an old hay barn, there was much work ahead to be done. We have made many improvements over the years but the two creeks offer the same beauty. Now two bridges and a driveway cross over the two creeks before they merge into one, producing the name Crossing Creeks Farm.

Shortly after getting married (like literally as soon as we returned home from our very short honeymoon), my parents, Reid and Susan, approached Shane and I with the idea of purchasing land together to start a generational farm. Looking at them cross-eyed, we began to discuss possibilities, and excitement arose in all of us. Little did we know that it would be five years later before we actually purchased the farm. But during that time, we gained so much knowledge and passion. As our love for great tasting, nutrient-dense beef grew, we began to see the need to raise our own 100% grass-fed beef and much more.

Once Noah, our oldest son, blessed our lives, the vision for the farm became clearer. We longed for a place to raise our children with the privilege and responsibility of producing their own food. We loved the idea of them living just a short walk from their grandparent’s home. It’s pretty rare these days to see multi-generations living on the same property-working side by side, raising and schooling children together, and eating regular meals together- but I wouldn’t trade it for the world. It comes with great sacrifice (not every son in-law like Shane would sign up for this lifestyle) but also great reward. Having both our sons, Noah and Caleb here full time, keeps us all on our toes!

Focus

50

With what began as a desire to feed our family the best possible food, a passion has grown for sharing our food with our community. We love the relationships and fellowship that have developed here in our farm store from selling our products directly to the consumer. Sharing our products, journey and farm with you all is truly a joy for us.

As I think back on that first conversation-sitting together in Mom and Dad’s living room-fresh out of college, just married and no children yet, I think to myself 'Boy, we really didn’t know what we were saying yes to but it’s been an amazing journey with much more to come.'

We are so excited for you to join our journey and commitment to 'healing our community one bite at a time.'

Farm Tours

Enjoy a tractor-wagon ride through Crossing Creeks Farm for an up-close experience with our farm critters. Farmer Shane takes the time to show each species of animal that we raise, where they currently are in our rotational grazing system, and their housing setup. He'll bring along some fresh goodies for you to feed the animals, if desired, and answer all your questions. This tour can be scheduled for just one person or up to 30 with a discount of 10% off applied for groups over eight. And kids ages four and under are free! Come see all of our farms and learn a little more about how we produce food for your table."
