WALTER C. MALAU
Walter C. Malau is the Executive Officer of Transparency Solomon Islands. Walter completed studies with the University of the South Pacific in 2006 majoring in Accounting and Information System. He then commenced CPA studies with CPA Australia in 2008 as an Associate membership. He has worked as audit manager with the Office of the Auditor General. In addition Walter has also had a firsthand experience to audit funds that have been corrupted and compliance issues. His most recent appointment was with the ANZ Bank Limited. As Head of Risk and Governance Manager, Walter has the firsthand experience working with the Police and Financial Intelligence Unit and other stakeholders such as the Tax Office. As a custodian of the compliance with Money laundering Act and Police Act, he has delivered the necessary requirement within the Bank for compliance purpose and monitor risks. He also has attended the World Bank and learnt the Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative in Jakarta, Indonesia October 2011. The workshop aimed at commencing a starting point to work towards achieving a transparent reporting for the extractive industry particularly the Mining sector. As a result Walter is the Current Executive Officer of the Transparency Solomon Islands.
