On Display

LACE THROUGH THE AGES This is a fascinating, historical display by Joyce Needham from World of Lace. Lace Making Through History is an exclusive collection of vintage lace pieces, some of which are more than 200 years old! The display includes examples of early lace making such as a clerical Lappet from 1680 right up to modern day, with a piece of lace from the bolt of fabric used for the royal wedding between Kate Middleton and Prince William. See it for yourself at the show.

LIVING COLOUR!

CELEBRATING LIFE ACROSS THE SPECTRUM Living Colour! is a travelling textile art exhibition of 32 vibrant, contemporary textile works, curated by Brenda Gael Smith. Each piece explores the title theme in banner format.

KNIT ONE, DESIGN WON! The show is all about creating without boundaries and in keeping with this concept, Teresa Dair’s display of knitted jewellery and clothing pieces is not as one would expect! She incorporates non-traditional materials and techniques that challenge the perception of what is a knitted piece. It is simplicity that is the very essence of her work. Don’t miss this unconventional, yet beautiful display! 6

www.creativetextileshow.com.au

This exhibition is much anticipated and we’re excited to be able to show you a sneak peek! Come along to the show to see this display in all its colourful glory and hear Brenda’s floortalk at 12.30pm daily, at the Living Colour stand.

‘THE FABRIC TRAIL’ Made by Jo-Anne Rolfe

NOT ALL JOURNEYS HAVE A DESTINATION….

HEADS UP ON HATS Many of the Riverina Millinery Association guild members have significant experience in the art of creating fabulous hats and headwear and are recognised for their design skills with awards and fashion competition successes.

In developing the Fabric Trail Exhibition, five South Australian textile artists from the SAlt (South Australian living textiles) group have travelled the world only to discover that their artistic destinations were insignificant, compared to their personal journeys. From painted wholecloth, machine and hand-embroidered pieces to layered or embellished, and patched and pieced – the variety and diversity of this collection will inspire. SEE THESE FRESH, RESPONSIVE AND CONTEMPORARY WORKS OF ART ON DISPLAY AT THE SHOW.

This year’s Creative Textile Show has an amazing display of millinery. From fascinating fascinators to clever cloches, you’ll find these pieces truly inspiring. Meet some of these talented Riverina milliners at the show.
