WELCOME Dear Craft Fair Friends, At the craft fairs we like to present inspiration plus education, in addition to great shopping! And this year our inspiration is in the form of wonderful guest artists and displays. Meet Svenja – she creates incredible wearable art and has won numerous international awards for her work. Her imagination is matched by textile art expertise which she will demonstrate at the fair alongside a display of her amazing costumes. Svenja’s pieces are ‘fantastic’ – in the true sense of the word – based in fantasy – not really something that you would wear out to dinner – but wow – just seeing them is uplifting and captivating. We have Kerrie Gurney doing papercraft – showing you what’s possible with the latest fun products to make cards and scrapbook pages. Make some time to be with Kerrie – she can show you some great ideas and get you started on gorgeous papercrafts. Miss Chrissy from the Lindy Charm School will be presenting fashion from the past and showing how to use your creative skills to update, renovate and generally jazz-up clothing. Seeing her vintage fashion pieces is always a real treat! Education at the fair comes in the form of demonstrations, presentations and mini-classes that you can join. I think at least one class a day is a must to get the most out of the fair! And, then there’s the shopping. Our exhibitors have a boutique selection of new designs, kits and patterns, the latest lovely fabrics, and there are loads of clever sewing machines, gadgets and tools to help you in whatever creative pursuit you choose, whether it is jewellery making, dressmaking, papercraft, sewing, patchwork or embroidery – this will be an Aladdin’s cave for you to enjoy! Have a great time – there’s nothing like all the fun of the fair! PS. Pick up your free copy of The Australian Women’s Weekly at the door, while stocks last.
Experience a day at the fair... “I am so excited to be ambassador for the Craft & Quilt Fair again in 2015! Craft is a great way to make unique things for your home and family. It’s a wonderful way to express yourself. Some things you just make time for!”

GUEST ARTIST SVENJA HAS THE ‘WOW’ FACTOR
Meet Brisbane textile artist Svenja – creator of amazing, internationally award-winning wearable art. Svenja’s textile art pieces have been widely exhibited and awarded across Australia and internationally. See some of these eye-catching pieces on display at the fair and watch Svenja demonstrating some of the textile art techniques she uses to create them. In 2013 two of her pieces won awards at the world-renowned World of Wearable Art TM (WOW exhibition), held in September at Wellington, New Zealand.

“I very much enjoy the whole process of bringing a concept to fruition through the initial research, design, and planning stages, then through the hands-on steps of dyeing, embellishing, and assembling the finished article.”

GUEST ARTIST MEMORIES MADE BEAUTIFUL Meet our guest artist, Kerrie Gurney at the fair! Kerrie has a passion for papercraft of all kinds – from stamping to scrapbooking, and everything in between. Her energy and love for teaching all aspects of her craft is infectious and her talent has extended to having her work published nationally and in the USA.
“I love teaching and sharing in the joy people get from creating. I always come away learning something new too!” Come and have a fun papercraft experience with Kerrie – see the latest embellishments, techniques, products and tools in her daily demonstrations, or create your own card in her make & take classes for just $5.
Kerrie has been involved in the craft industry since 1996 and has tutored at craft events across Australia. She describes her teaching experience in South Africa in 2012 as one of the highlights of her life.

“For me, scrapbooking is about the photo and reliving that memory. I don’t think I have a particular style – it’s usually how I am feeling or what I am doing that dictates what I create and inspires me to try new techniques or add texture to projects.” Demonstrations run daily, throughout the day
Learn Card Making with Kerrie Kerrie will hold a different 30 minute card class each day at 11:30am Cost: $5 per class (includes everything you need to make your card) Book at her display stand at the fair.

LEST WE FORGET 100 YEARS, 100 QUILTS In honour of the centenary of the Gallipoli landing, quilters across Australia and New Zealand were invited to participate in a unique challenge. With the ‘Lest We Forget Quilt Challenge – 100 Years, 100 Quilts’ quiltmakers from across Australia and New Zealand were invited to contribute a 25cm square quilt, exploring what Lest We Forget means to them. Each quilt has a special story and will be on display at the fair. The works premiered at the Australasian Quilt Convention in April and will tour at Craft & Quilt Fairs across Australia and New Zealand in 2015. This display commemorates one of Australia and New Zealand’s most defining times and is a tribute to all those affected by conflicts over the years. Many quiltmakers have added a dedication to their quilt, and tell the story behind each piece in the accompanying statement. See them at the fair.
