With her wealth of knowledge on early 20th century style, you will learn how simple crafty ways can embellish and style a very plain outfit and turn it into a fabulous chic new outfit using this mentality from yesteryear.

This is a very portable craft – you don’t even need a sewing machine! Fiona will show you how to cut shapes using acrylic templates (provided in the kit) and a rotary cutter on a rotary mat. MIXED MEDIA Join Cecile Whatman from Unique Stitching at Stand C23 and learn all about dyeing and mixed-media materials in these fun handson workshops. Program runs daily at the fair: 10am Leather look Journal or Visual Diary cover Mix Kraft tex, Transfer Artist Paper (TAP), Angelina fibre, spray inks and paint to make a great cover. Piece may also be stretched over a canvas or added to another project.

Class cost: $25 11.30am Dyeing Designs Screen print and stencil patterns onto a fat quarter of cotton fabric with the amazing Color Magnet. Then dip in some Procion dyes and watch the magic happen as the pattern is highlighted into a dominant shade! Take your fabric home and stitch it into your next textile project. Each piece will make a fabulous cushion or feature fabric.

Class cost: $13.50.

1.30pm Sheer Leaves Start with a piece of white fabric then paint it with inks and fabric paints. Add some foil to make a truly sensational background fabric then add some sheer leaves to make the whole piece sing! A lot of techniques and media are covered in this class and participants are guaranteed to walk away inspired to create textile art.

Class cost: $25 3pm Nuno Felting Make a small nuno felted piece with scrim, wool and silk top and novelty yarns. When complete, you can stitch the felt into a gorgeous, funky cuff to wear or give away.

11.30am Terial Magic Spray – A no-fray fabric starch which replaces stabilizers and fusibles for quilters, embroiderers and papercrafters. Simply spray, then air-dry and iron. It’s also water soluble!

12.30pm Circles and hearts – These are two of the most popular shapes presently being used. See how easy it is to make perfect shapes easily.

11am to 12noon Floral Mini Photo Album Learn simple painting techniques using Jo Sonja acrylics, mediums and stencils, to enhance the album with a bright and captivating floral design.

CRUISING TO THE FAIR....

Bring your knitting...and join the knitters from the Northern Group of the Knitters Guild of NSW on the ferry, who will be making beanies and scarves for Stewart House.

FREE BUS PARKING ONSITE FOR GROUPS VISITING THE FAIR! Ferries are wheelchair accessible.

Some buses are wheelchair accessible.

The centre is fully accessible by wheelchair-friendly ramps.

The centre has 24 disabled carpark spaces located at the entrance to Halls 1 and 3.

Murray Street bus stop, near the Maritime Museum, Darling Harbour – corner of Murray St and Union St, opposite Pyrmont Bridge Hotel.

• Bus departs every 30 minutes. Trip takes about 15 minutes.

Buses will drop off and pick up visitors from the bus stop located outside Hall 1.

PARK & RIDE Discounted car park rates will be available at the Harbourside Carpark at Darling Harbour. From here, catch a FREE bus or ferry to the Sydney Exhibition Centre.

• Location: Harbourside Car Park, 100 Murray St, Pyrmont • Special Rate: $15 per day For this special parking rate: Take a normal ticket at the car park. At the fair obtain a discount car park ticket from the Help Desk at the fair entrance. Before returning to your car, go to the car park Pay Station and insert your original ticket, then the discount ticket and payment. If paying at the gate, only credit cards are accepted.

PARKING Paid parking is available at the Sydney Exhibition Centre, Glebe Island.

• The address for Car Park 1 (P1) is 41 James Craig Road, Rozelle – entry and exit is via James Craig Road

• A free shuttle bus will transport visitors between P2 Car Park and the entry to the fair, and will return visitors when leaving • Car Park rates: Entry before 12noon $35; entry after 12noon $20.
