We recognize that you work hard to get away and enjoy a family vacation and that you are here to relax and have a great time. To us that means doing everything we can to keep the stress out of your vacation experience and “keep you on vacation.” We believe that our “We Want You Back” spirit will make this one of your best vacations and that you will want to return to Smugglers’ again and again. Don’t be reluctant to let us know if something goes wrong. As hard as we try, we don’t always meet our own standards of excellence. Our quality goal is to continually improve everything we do in an effort to exceed your expectations for your vacation experience. Activity Refund Policy: A full refund will be given for any Resort activity (unless otherwise noted) if cancelled prior to an hour before the activity begins. A 50% refund will be given if cancelled within an hour of an activity. No refund will be given after the activity has begun.

Inclement Weather: The following procedures have been developed for the protection of our Guests and Employees in

the event of inclement weather conditions. Smugglers’ Notch Resort employs the following systems in order to detect severe weather: National Weather Service broadcast system, Cambridge Rescue Squad Alert System, WINS Meterologix Alert System, and observation. Once a weather alert has been received by Smugglers’ staff, all guest services with exposure to weather conditions will be suspended for at least thirty minutes, and all outdoor facilities, including pools and hot tubs, will be closed during that period. When the thirty minute period has passed without additional alerts, the facilities will be reopened. If another inclement weather alert occurs within the thirty minute time period, the thirty minute period will start again from the point of detection. Please see specific activity descriptions for further details of alternate locations for activities during inclement weather conditions.

Business Center Services Our self-serve Business Center offers access to the Internet. Located in the lower level of the Meeting House. $6.95 for 15 minutes. A fee based fax machine (802-644-1230) is available at the Guest Service Desk, $1 per page for outgoing/incoming faxes, the first two pages are free.

Keeping Connected

Computer Connections High speed wireless Internet service (WiFi) is available in our homes. $10 for one day and $30 for one week. Multiple users in the same home may connect simultaneously once you establish your broadband account. The wireless network is accessed by simply starting up your Internet browser and following the directions on the screen. Safety & Emergencies Smoke Detectors If your smoke detector goes off due to cooking, steamy showers or burned toast, etc., please DO NOT TAMPER WITH THE ­DETECTOR. Call Maintenance at extension 1158 and a technician will be dispatched immediately to repair your detector. These detectors are wired directly into the Fire Department and tampering with them causes a safety problem for the guests in the rest of your building.

In Case of Fire Most buildings are equipped with interior fire alarm pull stations. When pulled, they will automatically notify the Fire Department. Also, each home is equipped with local smoke detectors for your added protection. Should the fire alarm in your building go off, please evacuate at once and remain outside until the alarm has been silenced. Please do not tamper with the fire alarms or extinguishers.

Medical Emergencies In the event of a medical emergency, pick up a condominium or “house” phone and DIAL 911 or dispatch someone to the Guest Service Desk. Relay all available information including location and patient’s current condition. The following phone numbers assume you are calling from a condominium or “house” phone. If you are dialing from a mobile phone, there is no need to dial 9 before the numbers listed below. All 911 calls can be dialed directly from any phone. Our Child Protection Plan Child abuse and neglect occur at all socio-economic levels. Children in need can be helped. The sooner they are identified and approached, the better. Vermont State Law mandates that all children’s program staff and administrators report any incidents of suspected child abuse and/or neglect, whether such incidents may be occurring within or outside the boundaries of Smugglers’ Notch Resort.

Our Drug and Alcohol Policy Smugglers’ Notch is committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment for our guests. Therefore, it is the policy of Smugglers’ Notch to comply with and support all state and federal laws related to the use and possession of all regulated drugs, as well as the use and possession of alcohol and tobacco products.

Handicap Accessibility The mountain environment we are located within can create challenges to accessing some of our facilities. Here at Smugglers’, we are working on improving accessibility for our guests and employees. If you or someone you know requires assistance, or to find out more information regarding accessibility at Smugglers’, please contact the Guest Service Desk so that we can best fulfill your needs.

Guided Walking & Hiking No pre-registration necessary for walks and wikes. Advance registration at the Guest Service Desk or the Tennis & Family Fun Center is required for all hikes. Sign-up at least 24 hours in advance of program start time, within 24 hours check with the Guest Service Desk or the Tennis & Family Fun Center for availability. 9:00 am hikes are for ages 15 & older, all other hikes are for ages 13 & older. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. All wikes and walks are for any age. All walks, wikes, and hikes meet at the designated sign on the Village Green. Proper footwear, food, water and clothing is required for all hikes. Walks – A 1-2 hour walk involving mild to moderate exercise. Wikes – A little longer in duration, up to 3 hours, and moderate to demanding exercise. Hikes – The most physically demanding and time consuming, 4-6 hours is the typical hike duration. Caution and evaluation of personal fitness is urged. All walks, wikes, and hikes are rated according to their level of difficulty. l Easiest n More Difficult u Most Difficult uu Experts Only This boot symbol identifies our hikes that extend beyond the boundaries of our own property. These hikes must be registered with the Green Mountain Club, in an effort to track the environmental impact on the trails. As with many programs at Smugglers’, stewardship of the land has always been a high priority. Therefore, we are encouraging each guest participating in one of the hikes outside of our own property to make a voluntary contribution to the Green Mountain Club at the time you sign up for the hike.

Take a Hike to the Top of the Notch – Join our Trekkers’ Club! Here’s your chance to have loads of fun, challenge yourself on our magnificent mountain terrain and gain a little well deserved recognition to boot! Join us for a guided hike and you’ll be well on your way to becoming a member of the One Mile Trekkers! From there, it is just a hop, skip, and a mile or two to the Three Mile, Five Mile, and Seven Mile clubs! Your hiking guide has all the information.

The views on this 6-hour hike are worth the effort. When the summit is attained, views of New York, New Hampshire and Lake Champlain may be seen! Our most strenuous hike, so come prepared.

West side via Sunset Ridge from Underhill (Tues.) The openness of this trail offers a plethora of breathtaking views and a side trip to Cantilever Rock for the geologists of the group. Bring your camera! East side via the Long Trail from Smugglers’ Notch Pass (Wed.) Our guides will find the best route for the day taking advantage of views and rarely hiked trails.

Explore the Northern Forest for signs of your favorite animals. Discover how our woodland creatures survive the harsh Winters and the warm Summer sun.

TREASURES – where we treat your little ones like gold! All of TREASURES programs should be reserved at least 24 hours in advance on a space available basis. Ext. 1180. TREASURES has some very special features for both kids and parents including air conditioning, giant fish tanks, a mountainside playground overlooking the Village, 5,400 square feet of indoor space, one-way mirror viewing for parents and easy drop off and pick up. TREASURES, located on Morse Mountain, is filled to the brim with toys and games. The staff is trained in first aid, CPR, child development, and behavior management. We have created active, dynamic educational programs that meet the developmental needs of your children. Our groups do venture out in inclement weather, but in the case of severe weather we will offer alternative programming. Please note: If you would like your children to be grouped together the older child will be expected to join the younger child’s group. Signing out of camp Camper registration cards have a check box to indicate parental permission for campers to leave on their own. If “Yes” is circled, we will need to know what time of day this applies to. If “No” is circled, campers may only leave with a parent or designated guardian. All children must be picked up by the designated time the program ends.

Tuesday • Spend the day at Notchville Park! Climb Raven’s Roost climbing tower, swing on the Giant Swing, soar high into the sky on our Eurobungy, and swim in the pools at Notchville Park. 2 DAY/2 NIGHT BACKPACKING EXPLORATION TRIP Wednesday & Thursday Campers will depart on Wednesday for Vermont’s famed Long Trail, a section of which runs over the spine of our Sterling and Madonna mountains! Starting in beautiful Smugglers’ Notch, the group will climb up to the Sterling Pond shelter where they will make camp for the night. Thursday is spent hiking on the Long Trail to either Beaver Meadow Lodge or Bear Hollow Shelter for the night. Friday morning the group will be up early for a short stroll out to the road where they will be picked up and driven back to the resort for a 9:30 am pick up at the Notch Squad tent! Campers will be carrying portions of their supplies for sleeping and eating and will be accompanied by two fully trained guides with their Wilderness First Aid Certifications. Mountain Bike Camp

Mountain Bike Camp is for anyone wanting to learn the basics of trail riding or looking for new challenges. Discover the joy of riding at your own pace, exploring the forest trails that surround us. In this three-day offering you will also learn about the history of mountain biking and the opportunities to ride at home. Whether taking a first step into a new sport, or fine-tuning advanced technique, Mountain Bike Camp is for anyone looking to ride! Ages 9 - 17. $219 per person for 3-day program, $79 per person for single day program. Includes instruction, equipment, and lunch. INCLUDED with the Adventure Connection Package. Skateboard Camp

Just getting started or an experienced skater, you’ll step it up a notch with the help of our pros. Camp includes skilled instruction, individual skill assessment, a visit to an off-site skate park, lunch and pool time. Ages 9 - 17. Helmet and pads required. All equipment provided if needed. Disc Golf Camp

Tues. - Thurs. 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Try out the fastest growing sport in the country! This three-day program will leave campers eager for more, and includes their own discs and information about local courses to continue play once they return home. Set on one of the nation’s finest courses, the Brewster Ridge Disc Golf Course, with a curriculum designed by Vermont’s reigning disc golf champion Jeff Spring. Every student will have fun, improve, and learn valuable concentration and focus skills while spending time in the woods. Ages 9 - 17. $219 per person for 3-day program, $79 per person for single day program. Includes instruction, equipment, and lunch. INCLUDED with the Adventure Connection Package. Guided and supervised overnight adventures including dinner, games, entertainment, sleeping bag, and continental breakfast. Participants will receive a FREE Smuggs Overnight T-shirt!

Notch Squad Overnight

Tues., check-in 4:45 pm - 5:00 pm

Ages 11 - 15. Come spend a night away from your condo with your favorite Notch Squad counselors at the Madonna Base Lodge. The night will start off with a pizza dinner followed by floor hockey, dodge ball, other outdoor games and music throughout the night. Notch Squad counselors will build a bonfire and campers will be able to roast marshmallows, make S’mores, and hang out by the bonfire. The night will end with an evening hike through the darkness of the Vermont woods and a movie. Sleeping bags are provided. Please bring your own pillow, pjs, warm sweater or sweatshirt, and any special snacks. Each camper will receive a one-of-a-kind Overnight T-shirt. Campers will hike to our Survival Campsite where they will use a combination of skills they learned throughout the week to make a fire, cook their dinner, and set up a functional campsite! Campers must attend at least one day of Survival Camp to attend the overnight. Mountain Explorers Barbecue & Swim Party

Tues. 5:00 pm

Come and join us for an evening out at Rum Runners’ reservoir. Along with a delicious BBQ dinner there will be a pre dinner swim with fun on the Aqua Jump water trampoline. Out of the water there will be games, snacks, and a campfire. We will be listening to and playing music throughout the evening so bring your iPods and any instruments you’d like to jam with. Teens return to the village between 9:00 pm and 10:00 pm. Don’t miss out on the most fun evening of the week. Sign up at the Guest Service Desk or Activities Desk by 12:00 noon on Tuesday. Ages 16-17. Program may be cancelled due to inclement weather conditions. Meet at 4:30 pm at the Outer Limits Teen Center with a 5:00 pm departure, returning between 9:00 pm and 10:00 pm. $29 per person.

Mountain Explorers Movie Night

Wed. 5:00 pm

Join us on a trip to the Essex Cinemas! Trip departs from the Outer Limits Teen Center and returns between 10:30 pm and 11:30 pm depending on the movie. Counselors will designate two current movies for the campers to choose from no later than Tuesday. Includes transportation, movie ticket, small popcorn & soda. Sign up at the Guest Service Desk. Ages 16-17. $20 per person. Space is limited – advance registration and signed permission slip from parents are required. No refunds after 12:00 noon on Wednesday. Minimum of 6 people required for trip to run.

Form your own Teen Team to compete in the Smuggs-a-thon obstacle challenge race! This race will take you around and through the Village, experiencing some of the best Smuggs has to offer. Teams of 2-4 people, bring your own or we can match you up. Please be prompt as it is a timed event, and be prepared to get wet. Meet at the Gazebo.

Flip out at the FunZone

Disc Golf The Village 9 (9-hole, Par 3)

Starting between the Village and Mogul Mouse lifts. This course works its way up the nearby ski trails and back down. Designed to be beginner friendly with shorter, open holes that can be played in 30 minutes! The Village 9 makes it easy to try disc golf for the first time while still being fun for good players. The Painting Place and U-Bead It Open Studio

This open studio is for people of all ages. The three main beading projects of focus will be earrings, necklaces, and bracelets. For the painting place you can choose from a variety of unpainted pottery pieces such as plates, mugs, picture frames, ornaments and more then create your own pottery masterpiece. Art Journal - Drawing on Nature

Note: there is no lifeguard on duty at the children’s wading area. Rustic mountainside changing cabin is available. American Red Cross Swim Lessons Our instructors are trained and certified by the American Red Cross, so our unique 6-level instructional approach is unlike anything else being offered. Each level includes training in basic water safety and helping others in an emergency, along with swimming skills presented in a logical progression. Via Ferrata

Using horizontal tyrolean traverses, rope bridges, rappelling and other rope techniques participants will be able to experience some of Vermont’s most unique natural environments up close and personal. The tours will take place around, above, and in some of the most scenic chasms and waterfalls in the area. Be prepared to get wet! All Peak Expeditions tours will be lead by professional guides using canyoneering and rock climbing techniques to position participants for an unparalleled, intimate perspective of these geologic wonders! Following completion of a ground school, trekkers are provided the opportunity to explore a variety of different course areas rated from easy to difficult. Test your daring and skill climbing artificial rock walls, vertical obstacles, or for a more novel challenge, climb high into the canopy of one of the Notch’s stately sugar maples or eastern hemlocks. New climbs added for 2014. $20 per hour plus taxes and fees, $10 per hour when added to a Zip Line Canopy Tour or to extend time after the Treetop Obstacle Course.

TOUR INFORMATION: • All tours depart and return to the ArborTrek Welcome Center, just 2 minutes from the Resort Entrance. From the resort village, head north (right) on to VT Rte 108 N for 0.6 miles. WHAT TO WEAR & BRING • Dress prepared for periods of activity and inactivity. Active wear is recommended, including multiple layers. In general, participants on the Treetop Obstacle Course and Climbing Adventure will be more active than those on the Canopy Tour. • Sturdy, closed-toed shoes required. No flip-flops, clogs, Crocs, or five-toe running shoes allowed. Guests without proper footwear will be turned away without refund. • Sunglasses are recommended. We recommend that all glasses be secured with a retainer strap.

Paddling Adventures with Vermont Canoe & Kayak All paddling adventures include basic paddling and water safety instruction and meet behind the Family Table Restaurant on Rte. 15 in Jeffersonville, unless otherwise noted. All participants must provide their own transportation to the site. Unless otherwise noted, all trips take place on the Lamoille River. Trip times will vary depending on the paddlers’ skill level and river current. The Lamoille River is considered flat water, no experience necessary. Under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
