We recognize that you work hard to get away and enjoy a family vacation and that you are here to relax and have a great time. To us that means doing everything we can to keep the stress out of your vacation experience and “keep you on vacation.” We believe that our “We Want You Back” spirit will make this one of your best vacations and that you will want to return to Smugglers’ again and again. Please bring your Village home keys to the Guest Service Desk before departing. Preparing the home for new arrivals takes time and we urge you to check out promptly by the designated time listed above. Unfortunately we are unable to grant requests for later check-outs. Activity Refund Policy:

A full refund will be given for any Resort activity (unless otherwise noted) if cancelled prior to an hour before the activity begins. A 50% refund will be given if cancelled within an hour of an activity. No refund will be given after the activity has begun.

Please remember your SmuggsPass!

The SmuggsPass, included in some of our vacation packages, should be worn throughout your stay with us at Smugglers’. Your SmuggsPass allows your family access to non-fee Smugglers’ Notch events, activities, and facilities. If you do not have a SmuggsPass included in your vacation package you may be eligible to purchase one at the Guest Service Desk during your stay. Your SmuggsPass must be purchased for the entire length of stay and is $49 per day (+ tax) or $294 (+ tax) for 7 days for everyone staying in your vacation home.

Note: Fee based activities and facilities such as massage and Artists in the Mountains are additional and are not covered by the SmuggsPass. SmuggsPass fees are subject to change until purchased.

Shuttle Service Leave the driving to us! Daily shuttle service is available throughout the Resort Village. A Mountain Shuttle dedicated to transporting skiers from the Welcome Sign in The Village to the Upper Mountain is offered 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. The In-Resort Village Shuttle is an on-call service. Please be ready when the shuttle arrives; it will only wait 3 minutes. Daily 8:00 am - 12:00 midnight. Please Note: Our on-call shuttles are for Resort shuttling only and will make stops for other guests. Ext. 7000 or 802-644-1010

Tubing at North Hill

Tube sliding at its best, the old fashioned way. We provide the tubes! No ski boots please. Children under 12 need to be accompanied by an adult. Children need to be able to ride and stop themselves independently. Located adjacent to the North Hill Aquatics Facility, guests will need to take the Village Shuttle as there is no parking at this facility. There are no restrooms facilities at this location. Weather permitting, beginning December 18.

KEEPING CONNECTED Computer Connections Wireless Internet Service (WiFi) is available in our Vacation homes. In order to use the service you must purchase an account and register your devices. You will need the Smugglers’ reservation number, which can be found on your itinerary in your Welcome Packet, in order to establish an account. The cost is $15 for one day and $35 for one week. The wireless network is accessed by simply starting up your Internet browser and following the directions on the screen. SAFETY & EMERGENCIES Smoke Detectors If your smoke detector goes off due to cooking, steamy showers or burned toast, etc., please DO NOT TAMPER WITH THE D ­ ETECTOR. Call Maintenance at extension 1158 and a technician will be dispatched immediately to repair your detector. These detectors are wired directly into the Fire Department and tampering with them causes a safety problem for the guests in the rest of your building.

In Case of Fire Most buildings are equipped with interior fire alarm pull stations. When pulled, they will automatically notify the Fire Department. Also, each home is equipped with local smoke detectors for your added protection. Should the fire alarm in your building go off, please evacuate at once and remain outside until the alarm has been silenced. Please do not tamper with the fire alarms or extinguishers.

Medical Emergencies In the event of a medical emergency, pick up a condominium or “house” phone and DIAL 911. Relay all available information including location and patient’s current condition. The following phone numbers assume you are calling from a condominium or “house” phone. If you are dialing from a mobile phone, there is no need to dial 9 before the numbers listed below. Our Child Protection Plan Child abuse and neglect occur at all socio-economic levels. Children in need can be helped. The sooner they are identified and approached, the better. Vermont State Law mandates that all children’s program staff and administrators report any incidents of suspected child abuse and/or neglect, whether such incidents may be occurring within or outside the boundaries of Smugglers’ Notch Resort.

Our Drug and Alcohol Policy Smugglers’ Notch is committed to providing a safe and nurturing environment for our guests. Therefore, it is the policy of Smugglers’ Notch to comply with and support all state and federal laws related to the use and possession of all regulated drugs, as well as the use and possession of alcohol and tobacco products.

Handicap Accessibility The mountain environment we are located within can create challenges to accessing some of our facilities. Here at Smugglers’, we are working on improving accessibility for our guests and employees. If you or someone you know requires assistance, or to find out more information regarding accessibility at Smugglers’, please contact the Guest Service Desk so that we can best fulfill your needs.

Non-Smoking Policy Guests staying in a home designated as non-smoking must refrain from smoking in and around the home, including the decks. A $250 fee will be assessed to eliminate any smoke damage.

Pet Policy Pets are prohibited. A $500 fee will be assessed if a pet or evidence of a pet is found in the home. Local boarding information is available at the Guest Service Desk.

Quiet Hour Policy Quiet hours are from 11:00 pm - 7:00 am. Please respect your neighbors.

Maple Sugar Meltdown Drift away with a full body massage while floating on pillows of warm water. Next, enjoy a gentle maple sugar scrub to exfoliate and hydrate your skin. Allow the warmth to soothe your muscles while you receive a relaxing Swedish massage followed by a revitalizing Green Mountain Coffee body cream scrub to exfoliate and hydrate your skin. TREASURES – where we treat your little ones like gold! Daily 8:30 am - 4:00 pm. TREASURES, our state-of-the-art child care center for ages 6 weeks to 3 years! TREASURES has some very special features for both kids and parents including radiant floor heating, giant fish tanks in every room, tiny toilets and small sinks, 5,400 square feet of indoor space, ski-in/ski-out convenience, one-way mirror viewing for parents, heated snowmelt walkways and easy drop off and pick up. TREASURES, located on Morse Mountain, is filled to the brim with toys and games. The staff is trained in first aid, CPR, child development, and behavior management. Our child-to-caregiver ratio assures full attention and the best possible care. $95 per child, per day. $70 per child, per half day. Kids’ Night Out

Ages 3-11. On Wednesday and Saturday evenings from 5:30 pm - 9:30 pm, TREASURES hosts our optional Kids’ Night Out program, including dinner, fun, and entertainment. Please have children dressed to walk outside. Children must be toilet trained. $35 per child. Please note: there will be a special Kids’ Night Out on New Year’s Eve 6:30 pm - 12:30 am, $55 per child. Snow sports are all about FUN, and when your family tries a Snow Sport University (SSU) program, fun is what we deliver, no matter what age or ability level. Whether you’re new to snow sports or you’re ready to explore more challenging terrain, Snow Sport University’s experienced coaches help develop the skills and confidence to meet any goal. For advanced skiers and riders, our guides introduce the thrill and excitement of discovering new terrain, opening up a world of on-and-off trail adventures. Our SSU staff personally make sure our guests have the best possible on-mountain experience, ending each session with more skills and knowledge. Safety, Fun, & Learning: at SSU we are focused on these three principles before all else. These are the building blocks of success for our snow sports school and what drives us towards our most basic goal, to connect people to the mountains.

What Level Am I? Whether you are trying to figure out how to put on your boots or how to get to the best powder stashes, SSU has the right program for you! Read on to match your skills to the lesson level that will allow you to reach your goals.

LEVEL 1:

“Never-ever” You have not skied or ridden in the past.

LEVEL 2:

You can turn and stop on beginner terrain and are getting ready for the lift. You would like to begin linking turns both ways on easiest green terrain.

LEVEL 3:

You are able to easily link turns in both directions on easiest green terrain and would like to begin exploring more green terrain. Skiers’ skis are parallel throughout most of the turn.

LEVEL 4:

You are comfortable on all green terrain and would like to explore intermediate trails and natural snow trails. Skiers’ skis are parallel throughout the entire turn; riders are linking toe-side and heel-side turns.

LEVEL 5:

You are comfortable on groomed blue terrain and are ready to tackle skiing or riding on all blue terrain. Skiers’ skis are parallel throughout the entire turn; riders are linking toe-side and heel-side turns.

LEVEL 6:

You link turns and ski or ride confidently on all blue groomed terrain and most blue ungroomed areas. You would like to work towards skiing or riding groomed black diamond trails and intermediate woods and bumps.

LEVEL 7:

You are confident on all blue terrain and would like to expand your experience to the most difficult terrain, starting with mastering black groomed trails and progressing to exploring bumps and woods areas.

LEVEL 8:

You are a confident all-mountain skier or rider looking to hone your skills on a variety of expert terrain and snow conditions. You would like to expand your skills to off-piste areas and terrain parks.

LEVEL 9:

You are an aggressive all-mountain skier or rider interested in pushing yourself to the limit. You want to ski or ride it all, from deep powder in the woods to big air in the terrain parks.

Fun on the mountain! While first timers are introduced to their equipment and play boot games to begin, most campers head right out to the hill to get skiing and snowboarding as soon as possible. Campers stay with their coaches as they head inside to warm up and refuel for the afternoon! Building on the morning session, the afternoon is often the most fun as campers get to explore the mountain and put the skills they’ve built into practice! Engaging professional entertainment is scheduled throughout the week to end the day with laughs and learning.

Parents pick up children at the Meeting House. We suggest you leave plenty of time at pick-up to discuss the day’s activities with your child’s instructor. Please note: Pick-up is by 2:15 pm on Thursday after the Cookie Race for the Winter Carnival which begins at 3:00 pm.

Smugglers’ Notch Adaptive Program (SNAP)

All ages. Providing therapeutic recreation for children and adults of all abilities, experiences are tailored to meet the needs and goals of each individual. Half and full day lessons are available. Our highly trained instructors will evaluate each individual’s needs and goals to determine their equipment needs. Smugglers’ adaptive program maintains an inventory of adaptive equipment including mono-skis, bi-skis, and sliders. Snowboarding is also available. Students are given an hour and a half of instruction from the Night School Staff, followed by an hour of open snow time to practice with support from the instructors. Maple Experience Snowshoe Trek n

Join us on a guided trek through Vermont’s pristine woods and learn about the liquid gold that runs through our maple trees. Learn to identify the different types of maple trees and techniques involved in maple sugaring - a time honored Vermont tradition. Bring home a sample of pure maple syrup. $48 per person.

Moonlight Mile Night Skiing n

Tues. 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Kick and glide into the tranquil night on a lantern lit trail. This tour, led by Nordic guide PK, will follow rolling terrain along beginner and intermediate trails. Enjoy the memorable experience of skiing by moonlight under Vermont’s starry skies. Participants will be equipped with LED head lamps on nights with less ambient light. A truly unique adventure for all abilities. $35 per person.

Snowshoe Adventure Dinner v

Ages 18 & older. Experience a dramatic weekly dining feature atop Sterling Mountain for adults. The Sterling lift transports you to the Top of The Notch, a mountain cabin lit only by candles. The Hearth & Candle Restaurant serves a gourmet meal with appetizer, salad, choice of main course, and a famous dessert. After dinner, work off those calories with a 40 minute snowshoe down to the Base Lodge. This is truly a rustic experience with no bathrooms. B.Y.O.B. Advance registration at the Guest Service Desk is required. Function will be cancelled in the event of severe weather. Sign-up deadline Tuesday at 12:00 noon, no refunds for cancellations after this time. Minimum sign-up is required for trip to run. A 4:00 pm drop-off in the lower level of the Meeting House is available for children participating in the FunFeast. Check-in for this event starts at 4:00 pm at the Village Welcome Sign. Transportation to the Base Lodge leaves from the Village Welcome Sign promptly at 4:15 pm. $69 per person.

Tour Information All tours depart and return to the ArborTrek Welcome Center, just 2 minutes from the Resort entrance. From the Resort village, head north (right) on to VT Route 108 for 0.6 miles. Turn right on to Edwards Road and the ArborTrek entrance is approximately ¼ mile on the right. The Zip Line Canopy Tour is designed for use by participants of average mobility and strength who are in reasonably good health. Participants must weigh between 70 and 250 lbs. clothed (max weight limit is 220 lbs. for participants under 5'4" and 180 lbs. for participants under 5'0") and be at least 48" in height and fit properly into the safety equipment provided. The tour is for ages 8 & older. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Women who are pregnant or think they may be pregnant may not go on the Canopy Tour. Due to the popularity of this program, there will be no refunds for cancellations. Mom & Me, Dad & Me Ski & Snowboard Private Lessons v 8:30 am - 3:00 pm By Appointment Parent with child age 3-5. 1-hour semi-private lesson. Get a look inside an SSU Instructors’ “bag of tricks!” Coaches will share teaching strategies with Mom or Dad to assist the parent in teaching a little one to ski or ride. Emphasis is on fun and strengthening the parent-child bond. The parent must be an intermediate or better skier or rider, and your child should be a First Timer. Meet at Sir Henry’s Learning Hill deck. $105 per session(non-holiday),$125 per session (holiday); includes 2 persons.

Morning Mountain Tours

Off-site Ice Fishing Tours v Try your luck with tip-ups and jigging for fish on some of Vermont’s most scenic lakes with our guided instructional ice fishing tours. These trips are great for people who don’t even know what ice-fishing is, or for an experienced ice-fisherman who is visiting and doesn’t have any of their gear. A full refund will be given for any Resort activity (unless otherwise noted) if cancelled prior to an hour before the activity begins. A 50% refund will be given if cancelled within an hour of an activity. No refund will be given after the activity has begun.

Please dress warmly! Snow boots, ski gloves, warm jacket, and ski pants are a must. Helmets are provided. Ages 12 & older. Similar to an inflatable sled or boogie board, airboards are lightweight and easy to maneuver. Airboarding is available on the lift-accessed terrain at Morse Highlands. First timers can learn the basics in a short instructional clinic and join the free-riding fun upon completion. Guests must be at least 49" tall. Helmets are required. Weather permitting. If the Morse Highlands Lift is not running this program will be cancelled. Meets at the Morse Highlands Lodge. Clinic: $25 includes instruction, rental, and 1 hour free ride.

Smuggs Mug Snowman Painting v

Ages 8 & older. Come join us for a fun-filled activity for all ages. Together we will make a snowman come alive on a clear glass mug. No snow, no carrots, and no coal. Instead we will use acrylic enamel paints, brushes, and a technique referred to as layering. After 24-hours you need to bake it in the oven to set. Then it will be ready to go. Meets at the Artist’s Room at Morse Highlands Lodge. $20 per person.

Snowshoe Adventure Dinner v

Ages 18 & older. Experience a dramatic weekly dining feature atop Sterling Mountain for adults. The Sterling lift transports you to the Top of The Notch, a mountain cabin lit only by candles. The Hearth & Candle Restaurant serves a gourmet meal with appetizer, salad, choice of main course, and a famous dessert. After dinner, work off those calories with a 40 minute snowshoe down to the Base Lodge. This is truly a rustic experience with no bathrooms. B.Y.O.B. Advance registration at the Guest Service Desk is required. Function will be cancelled in the event of severe weather. Sign-up deadline Tuesday at 12:00 noon, no refunds for cancellations after this time. Minimum sign-up is required for trip to run.
