Madrid será este año, una vez más, la primera capital europea en albergar un evento de la LONGINES GLOBAL CHAMPIONS TOUR, considerada internacionalmente como la Formula 1 de hípica. Tras las pruebas celebradas en Doha, Miami Beach, México City y Shanghai, nuestro Club de Campo Villa de Madrid albergará los mejores jinetes y caballos del mundo en una competición que, estoy convencido de ello, volverá a regalar a los miles de espectadores que se desplacen hasta nuestra capital momentos de irrepetible emoción del 17 al 19 de mayo.

De todas las citas que tienen lugar en nuestra ciudad, el Concurso Internacional de Salto de Madrid tiene un puesto muy especial ya que, con sus 113 ediciones, se trata del acontecimiento deportivo más antiguo de todos los que se celebran en la capital. La impresionante e histórica Pista Verde del Club de Campo centrará todas las miradas de los aficionados en una competición que repartirá alrededor de un millón de euros en premios.

Solo me resta desear a todos los jinetes suerte de cara a los tres días de competición y animar a todos los asistentes a este evento -tanto a los que nos visiten desde otras partes de España como a los que vengan desde fuera de nuestras fronteras- a explorar todo lo que Madrid tiene que ofrecerles: la vida de sus calles, la excelencia de su gastronomía, la grandeza de sus monumentos y museos y, por encima de todo, la cálida acogida de todos los madrileños.

This year Madrid will be, once again, the first European capital to host an event of the LONGINES GLOBAL CHAMPIONS TOUR, considered internationally as the Formula 1 of equestrianism. After the events held in Doha, Miami Beach, Mexico City and Shanghai, our Club de Campo Villa de Madrid will host the best riders and horses in the world in a competition that, I am convinced, will once again provide the thousands of spectators who travel to our capital with moments of unrepeatable emotion from May 17 to 19.

Of all the events that take place in our city, the Madrid International Show Jumping Competition has a very special place since, with its 113 editions, it is the oldest sporting event of all those held in the capital. The impressive and historic Pista Verde of the Club de Campo will be the focus of all the fans’ attention in a competition that will distribute up to almost one million euros in prizes.

I just want to wish all the riders luck for the three days of competition and to encourage all those attending this event -both those visiting from other parts of Spain and those coming from outside our borders- to explore all that Madrid has to offer: the life of its streets, the excellence of its gastronomy, the greatness of its monuments and museums and, above all, the warm welcome of all the people of Madrid.

Alcanzamos este año la edición CXIII del Concurso Internacional de Saltos de Madrid que un año más acogen las magníficas instalaciones del Club de Campo Villa de Madrid.

Nuevamente la competición será uno de los eventos ecuestres de referencia en el ámbito nacional e internacional, contando con los mejores caballos y jinetes españoles y de todo el mundo.

Este año se da, además, la circunstancia de que la competición está situada en el calendario a escasos tres meses de los Juegos Olímpicos de París 2024, lo que redundará en el nivel de participación y en las consecuencias de sus resultados, calificativos para la cita olímpica.

Su amplio programa de competición contará, como es habitual en este concurso, con la celebración de la Copa del Rey de Saltos, que cuenta en su palmarés con la victoria de los mejores jinetes del mundo de ayer y de hoy, nacionales y extranjeros.

En nombre de nuestra federación y de todo el deporte ecuestre en España quiero dar la bienvenida a todos los participantes, todos sus acompañantes y a todos los aficionados al caballo que volverán a llenar las tribunas de la pista verde del Club de Campo Villa de Madrid.

This year we reach the CXIII edition of the International Show Jumping Competition of Madrid, which once again will be held at the magnificent facilities of the Club de Campo Villa de Madrid.

Once again, the competition will be one of the equestrian events of reference at national and international level, with the best horses and riders from Spain and around the world.

This year, in addition, the competition is located in the calendar just three months before the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, which will have an impact on the level of participation and the consequences of their results, qualifiers for the Olympic Games.

Its extensive competition program will include, as usual in this competition, the celebration of the King’s Cup, which has in its list of winners the victory of the best riders in the world of yesterday and today, national and foreign.

On behalf of our federation and all the equestrian sport in Spain, I would like to welcome all the participants, all their companions and all the horse enthusiasts who will fill the grandstands of the green arena of the Club de Campo Villa de Madrid.

La Pista Verde del Club de Campo Villa de Madrid vuelve a ser el escenario de la mejor hípica con la celebración, del 17 al 19 de mayo, del 113º Concurso de Saltos Internacional, una de las competiciones más importantes que acoge el Club en sus instalaciones a lo largo del año y el evento deportivo internacional más antiguo de Madrid, en el que compiten los mejores jinetes y amazonas.

El concurso pertenece al circuito de mayor prestigio en el mundo de la hípica, el Longines Global Champions Tour, el cual sólo realiza parada en 16 ciudades de todo el mundo, teniendo Madrid y el Club de Campo el privilegio de ser la única sede en nuestro país.

Doy la bienvenida a todos los participantes y a toda la afición que se acercará al Club a disfrutar de este gran espectáculo deportivo y que es, a la vez, un encuentro social indispensable cada año en la capital de España.

The Green Grass Arena of the Club de Campo Villa de Madrid will once again be the stage for the best equestrian events with the celebration, from May 17 to 19, of the 113th International Show Jumping Competition, one of the most important competitions that the Club hosts in its facilities throughout the year and the oldest international sporting event in Madrid, in which the best riders compete.

The competition belongs to the most prestigious circuit in the equestrian world, the Longines Global Champions Tour, which only stops in 16 cities around the world, having Madrid and the Club de Campo the privilege of being the only venue in our country.

The 2024 Longines Global Champions Tour in Madrid is the perfect setting to showcase the new Mini DolceVita models with exclusive double tour straps. With its discreet profile, classic styling, and aesthetic variations that are at once timely and timeless, this collection exquisitely expresses, in equal parts, Longines’ quiet luxury and contemporary elegance.

Available in various sizes and colours, these new models are equipped with straps encircling the wrist in comfort and softness. A subtle reference to the equestrian world so dear to Longines, the holes in the straps are numbered in hot-press printing from 1 to 6, just like the stirrup leathers that, as the name suggests, connect the saddle to the horse’s stirrups.

All presented in a stainless-steel rectangular case measuring 21.50 mm x 29.00 mm and equipped with a high-precision L178 quartz movement, the new Mini DolceVita models are available in six variants as elegant as they are unique. Three versions sport a silvered rectangular Roman dial distinguished by its flinqué decoration. The Madrid International Equestrian Competition celebrates its 113th edition and does so, one more year, as part of the Longines Global Champions Tour. This season, the circuit will visit 16 exclusive cities and will distribute more than 40 million dollars in prize money. In addition, the Club de Campo Villa de Madrid will once again host the Global Champions League, the team league that is played together with the individual circuit.

El desafío individual definitivo

El Longines Global Champions Tour 2024 marca el inicio de una de las más increíbles competiciones individuales con 16 paradas en todo el mundo.

Caballos y jinetes se enfrentan a desafíos en recorridos técnicos, diversos escenarios y una intensa competición. Los mejores caballos y jinetes compiten en Asia, Europa, América y Oriente Medio, comenzando en Doha y viajando a lugares emblemáticos como Miami Beach, Ciudad de México, Mónaco, París y Shanghái, entre otros. El tour, culmina en Riad (Arabia Saudí), donde los puntos obtenidos contribuyen a la final de la clasificación general en las eliminatorias GC.

El codiciado título de Campeón del Longines Global Champions Tour 2024 está en juego, ganado por Harrie Smolders en 2023. Una carrera secundaria por la gloria, consiste en ganar un Golden Ticket, clasificatorio para el Longines Global Champions Tour Super Grand Prix en los GC Playoffs de noviembre. Sólo hay 15 tickets disponibles, que se conceden por victorias en las pruebas de los Grandes Premios LGCT.

El Gran Premio de la LGCT, una de las pruebas más destacadas de cada sede, cuenta con saltos de 1,60 metros. Los jinetes pueden elegir sus caballos en función de su idoneidad para cada prueba, y 40 binomios caballo-jinete se clasifican para cada Gran Premio de la LGCT a través de una prueba 5* El Gran Premio de la LGCT otorga puntos en cada sede a lo largo del año, lo que contribuye a la clasificación general del tour, y los jinetes compiten por una parte de una amplia bolsa de premios. Las 8 mejores puntuaciones de cada jinete a lo largo de la temporada cuentan para su ranking de puntos. Cada ganador del Gran Premio de la LGCT se asegura un Golden Ticket para el Súper Gran Premio de la LGCT, lo que añade emoción a lo largo de las 16 etapas y a la búsqueda del título de Campeón de Campeones en 2024.

The Ultimate Individual Challenge

The2024 Longines Global Champions Tour marks the commencement of the ultimate individual championship race with 16 stops worldwide.

Horses and riders face challenges in technical courses, diverse arenas, and intense competition. Top equine and human talent compete across Asia, Europe, The Americas, and the Middle East, starting in Doha and travelling to prominent locations like Miami Beach, Mexico City, Monaco, Paris, Shanghai, and more. The tour culminates in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where points earned contribute to the overall championship finale at the GC Playoffs.

The coveted Longines Global Champions Tour World Champion title, won by Harrie Smolders in 2023, is at stake. A secondary race for glory involves winning a Golden Ticket, qualifying for the Longines Global Champions Tour Super Grand Prix at the GC Playoffs in November. Only 15 tickets are available, awarded through victories in LGCT Grand Prix classes.

The LGCT Grand Prix, a highlight of each event, features jumps set at 1.60m. Riders can choose horses based on suitability for each event, and 40 horse-rider combinations qualify for each LGCT Grand Prix through a 5* class. Points are awarded in the LGCT Grand Prix at each stage throughout the year, contributing to the overall championship ranking, with riders competing for a share in an extensive prize fool. Each riders best 8 scores throughout the season count to their points tally.

Each LGCT Grand Prix winner secures a Golden Ticket for the LGCT Super Grand Prix, adding excitement to the 16-leg tour and the quest for the Champion of Champions title in 2024.

El mayor desafío por equipos del salto de obstáculos

Esta temporada de la GCL promete emoción, gracias a la lista de equipos meticulosamente seleccionados que competirán en una serie de 16 etapas. Los propietarios y directores de los equipos, se centran en el perfeccionamiento estratégico para una temporada muy emocionante, con un formato que combina la Ronda 1 y la Ronda 2 en el mismo día sin puntuación eliminatoria.

Lanzada en 2016, la GCL presenta equipos internacionales con al menos un Sub25 por equipo, fomentando el talento joven. Cada parada del tour incluye dos rondas, y las puntuaciones de la Ronda 1 pasan a la Ronda 2.

El formato sin drop-score simplifica la competición por equipos para nuevos públicos. La ronda 1 es una prueba CSI 5* de 1,55 metros, y tras ella, se lleva a cabo un breve descanso que permite realizar cambios estratégicos antes de la ronda 2 CSI 5* de 1,60 metros. Los equipos ganan puntos en cada etapa a lo largo del año, hasta llegar a la final. Los cuatro mejores equipos después de la final, acceden por la vía rápida a las eliminatorias de la GC en Riad (Arabia Saudí) para las semifinales de la Supercopa de la GCL, lo que les permite saltarse los cuartos de final eliminatorios y mantener fresca la potencia.

DATOS DE INTERÉS:

Cada equipo puede tener tres jinetes por etapa, dos de los cuales competirán en cada ronda.

Los equipos arrastran las penalizaciones de la Ronda 1 para determinar el orden de salida de la Ronda 2.

Los ganadores de la GCL de esa etapa se determinas por tener el menor número de penalizaciones combinadas y el tiempo más rápido de la Ronda 2.

Las eliminatorias de la GC incluyen un cuarto de final, una semifinal y una final de la Supercopa.

El equipo ganador de las 3 rondas eliminatorias se proclama vencedor de la Supercopa de la GCL en el enfrentamiento definitivo.

Show Jumping’s Greatest Team Challenge

This GCL season promises excitement with the roster of meticulously selected teams competing in a 16-event series. Team Owners and Managers focus on strategic refinement for a highly charged season, with a format combining Round 1 and Round 2 on the same day with no drop score.

Launched in 2016, the GCL features global teams with at least one U25 per team, fostering young talent. Each tour stop includes two rounds, and combined scores from Round 1 carry into Round 2.

The no-drop-score format simplifies team competition for new audiences. Round 1 is a CSI 5* 1.55m class, and a short break allows strategic changes before the CSI 5* 1.60m Round 2. Teams earn points at every stage throughout the year, leading to the championship Final. The top four teams post-Final earn a fast track to the GC Playoffs in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for the GCL Super Cup Semi-Finals allowing them to skip the knockout  Quarter-Finals and keep the horsepower fresh.

QUICK FACTS:

Each team can have three riders per event, with two competing in each round.

Teams carry penalties from Round 1 to determine Round 2 starting order.

The GCL winners of that stage have the fewest combined penalties and quickest Round 2 time.

GC Playoffs feature a Super Cup QuarterFinal, Semi-Final, and Final.

The winning team after the 3 knockout rounds are crowned GCL Super Cup winners in the ultimate showdown.

IOLI, ¿Cómo te sientes al competir en la GCL en Madrid, con Madrid In Motion como equipo anfitrión?

Es un honor para mí tener la oportunidad de saltar la GCL en Madrid, especialmente como equipo anfitrión. Por ello, es muy probable que seamos los favoritos del público, lo que siempre es una gran sensación al entrar en la pista. Me esforzaré al máximo en todas y cada una de las rondas, no sólo para ser los favoritos del público, sino para serlo de todos.

Ioli, what do you think about competing in the GCL in Madrid, with Madrid In Motion as host team?

I feel honoured to be given the opportunity to jump the GCL in Madrid, especially as host team. Due to this, there is a high chance we will be crowd favourites, which is always a great feeling when entering the ring. I will do my very best in each and every round to not only be crowd favourites, but overall favourites!

Con dos nuevos fichajes, lucharán por añadir a su anterior victoria en la Supercopa de la GCL y a sus repetidos podios. The impressive Madrid In Motion team have further strengthened their squad for the 2024 GCL championship. With two new signings they will battle to add to their previous GCL Super Cup win and repeated podium finishes. The team, sponsored by Massimo Dutti and Marqués de Riscal, will be going all out for GCL glory.

MAIKEL VAN DER VLEUTEN

Maikel ha formado parte de la competición por equipos de la GCL desde su creación en 2016, corriendo para los Mónaco Aces durante la primera temporada. Desde 2017 ha sido un pilar del equipo Madrid in Motion, este año marca el octavo año de Maikel como parte del equipo.

Aportando una gran experiencia, Maikel sin duda buscará trabajar con sus talentosos compañeros en un equipo que sin duda es uno a seguir para la temporada 2024.

Maikel has been part of the GCL team competition since its creation in 2016, riding for Monaco Aces during the first season. Since 2017 he has been a pillar of the Madrid in Motion team, this year marks Maikel’s 8th year as part of the team.

Bringing a wealth of experience, Maikel will certainly be looking to work with his fellow talented team mates in a team that is certainly one to be watched for the 2024 season.

EDUARDO ÁLVAREZ AZNAR

Eduardo afronta su cuarta temporada consecutiva con Madrid in Motion; ha representado al equipo en numerosas ocasiones en los dos últimos años. Parte del equipo que ganó la Supercopa GCL en los Playoffs de Praga de 2018, tercero en la clasificación del campeonato en 2023, y ahora que comienza 2024 con Eduardo de vuelta en Madrid In Motion - un miembro crucial del equipo que buscará ganar el máximo de puntos de nuevo esta temporada.

Eduardo is entering his fourth consecutive season with Madrid in Motion; representing the team on many occasions over the last two years. Part of the team to win the GCL Super Cup at the Prague Playoffs of 2018, third in the championship standings in 2023, and as 2024 kicks off with Eduardo back on Madrid In Motion - a crucial member of the team he will be looking to gain maximum points again this season.

MARK MCAULEY

Después de su primera temporada en 2018 con el equipo Montreal Diamonds, Mark se unió a Madrid in Motion para 2019. Tras dos grandes años en 2022 y 2023, 2024 ve a Mark permanecer con Madrid in Motion en un intento de sellar nuevos éxitos para el equipo.

After his first season in 2018 with the Montreal Diamonds team, Mark switched to Madrid in Motion for 2019. Following two great years in 2022 and 2023, 2024 sees Mark remaining with Madrid in Motion in a bid to seal further successes for the team.

¿Qué significa para vosotros ser un nuevo miembro de un equipo como Madrid In Motion?

IOLI: Siempre es emocionante ser bienvenido a un nuevo equipo con nuevos compañeros, posibilidades y retos. Esta emoción se ve incrementada por el alto nivel que mantiene un equipo como Madrid in Motion. Siempre es una responsabilidad entrar en un equipo que ya ha tenido éxito, pero estoy encantada de asumirla. Estoy muy agradecida a todos los que han confiado en mí y espero darles la razón: ¡haré todo lo que esté en mi mano para contribuir a su éxito!

BOSTY: Me siento muy feliz de ser un nuevo miembro del equipo Madrid In Motion. Es un honor para mí correr junto con estos súper jinetes.

¿Cuáles son vuestras expectativas y objetivos para esta temporada GCL 2024 con el equipo?

IOLI: Imagino que mi principal objetivo será prácticamente el mismo que el de mis compañeros de equipo: maximizar el número de podios. Con los jinetes y los caballos que tenemos, tengo buenas sensaciones de cara a la próxima temporada. Somos un grupo de deportistas motivados, que ahora se han unido para crear un buen espíritu de equipo y un ambiente positivo. Espero que esta motivación se traduzca en triunfos.

BOSTY: ¡Espero ganar el mayor número de etapas de la Global Champios League con el equipo y sería muy bonito hacer algún podio con el equipo y poder estar en las eliminatorias de Riad!

JACK WHITAKER [U25]

La estrella Jack Whitaker ha crecido en los últimos años con muchos éxitos a nivel internacional. Se unió al circuito de la GCL en 2022 como piloto sub25 en Madrid in Motion, y este año verán a Jack regresar al equipo en 2024, de nuevo como talento sub25, mientras compite junto a una serie de caras experimentadas, y está seguro de aprovechar su experiencia al tiempo que aporta su propio talento al equipo para una nueva temporada emocionante.

Jack Whitaker’s star has risen in the last few years with many successes at international level. He joined the GCL circuit in 2022 as the U25 rider on Madrid in Motion, and this year will see Jack return to the team in 2024, again as the U25 talent, while riding alongside a number of experienced faces, and is sure to draw on their experience while bringing his own talent to the team for an exciting new season.

ROGER-YVES BOST

Roger-Yves Bost ha demostrado una gran potencia a lo largo de los años como parte del circuito de equipos de la GCL. Primero corrió para Cannes Stars, seguido de una temporada los Shanghai Swans antes de unirse al Chantilly Pegasus en 2018, un regreso de nuevo al Cascais Charms, Roger ahora se une al equipo establecido de Madrid in Motion.

Roger-Yves Bost has shown some serious firepower over the years as part of the GCL team circuit. First he rode for Cannes Stars, following by a season the Shanghai Swans before joining the Chantilly Pegasus in 2018, a return back to the Cascais Charms, Roger now joins the established team of Madrid in Motion.

IOLI MYTILINEOU

Ioli Mytilineou hace un gran movimiento para la temporada 2024, uniéndose al tercer clasificado del año pasado, Madrid in Motion. Mytilineou compartirá equipo con grandes figuras de este deporte como Roger-Yves Bost y Maikel van der Vleuten. Sin duda, Ioli intentará dejar huella en la temporada 2024 y, tras un año estelar con las París Panthers en 2023, ¡todos los ojos estarán puestos en ella!

Ioli Mytilineou makes a big move for the 2024 season, joining last year’s third place getters, Madrid in Motion. Mytilineou is set to be riding alongside greats of the sport such as Roger-Yves Bost and Maikel van der Vleuten. Ioli will certainly be looking to make her mark for the 2024 season, and after a stellar year with the Paris Panthers in 2023, all eyes will be watching her do it!

What does it mean to you to be a new member of a team like Madrid In Motion?

IOLI: It’s always exciting to be welcomed into a new team with new teammates, possibilities and challenges. This excitement is further increased by the high standard a team like Madrid in Motion upholds. It’s always a responsibility coming into an already-successful team, but one I am more than happy to take on. I am very grateful to everyone involved for having the belief in me and I hope to prove them right- I will always do my utmost to add to their success!

BOSTY: I feel very happy to be a new member of the team Madrid In Motion. It´s an honor for me to be with these super riders.

What are your expectations and goals for this GCL 2024 season with the team?

IOLI: I imagine my main goal to be much the same as that of my teammates- to maximize the number of podium finishes. With the rider and horsepower, we comprise of, I have a good feeling about the upcoming season. We are a group of motivated individuals, who have now come together to create a good team spirit and a positive vibe. Hopefully this motivation will translate into triumph!

BOSTY: I expect to win as many Global Champions League legs with the team and it would be really nice do some podium with the team and be able to be in the Riyadh playoffs!

In the charitable Pony Park, by ¡HOLA!, children aged 4 to 10 will have the opportunity to explore new emotions by riding and petting adorable ponies. Each experience in the Pony Par,k will contribute to the generous cause of the Intheos Foundation in its fight against cancer.
