Forever Young By Cedric Nettles After nearly 2 decades, musician Terrence Young Is Still Killing It Congrats, we selected you to be recognized for your stellar career and commitment to community impact through your music. My uncles were all musicians and they were my biggest influences. I started playing at 10 years old and they always encouraged me to make a career out of it, but know the business first and foremost. I took their advice later and created 2 successful groups Finesse Band which is a Corporate/ Party Band and my solo jazz group The Terence Young Experience. This year 2020 is 18th anniversary with my groups.
Exclusive with Terrence Young How did your music keep you going? Music kept me Going in many ways. For one, imagine doing what you love to do and making a great living out of it. Music is my hobby, vacation and job all in one. It’s an escape from life challenges and stress and I can express myself emotionally through my music. Could you talk about your most memorable concert? My most memorable concert is when I opened for the Legendary Motown Duo Ashford and Simpson and technically ended up playing for them. Their band got stuck in a Snow Storm in New York so they ask me to be the music director and having to learn their entire show in 3 hours along with rehearsing with them. That was a nervous, stressful and an awesome experience.

You are fixture here in Columbia and nationwide, how do you think artists like yourself are impacted by Covid-19, and how do you plan to contribute to Columbia’s comeback? As far as Covid-19 the effect has been horrendous in the music community. Being that a lot of musicians full time jobs were playing music, filing for unemployment is challenging because there’s no record of them working for a company… Some musicians worked mostly for cash and tips not ever filling taxes so they can’t get a stimulus check because again no record of them in the system. As far as myself I’m a businessman so my business was ran properly. The comeback I believe is going to be huge because this quarantine has taught America to appreciate the things they may have overlooked. Musicians are doing a great job on social media doing Facebook Live Concerts and showing the world their amazing talents. And they are also showing what they’ve been missing out on all this time. I believe now that the world is paying attention. Can you talk about your band and how that came together? My bands came together because I had a vision, a plan and faith. My uncles taught me to always have a plan before proceeding with anything because a person can have a million Ideas but if there’s no plan in place it will likely not happen. I made it happen because of I had those 3 things and a passion for music. A person will only put 100% into what they really want to do and music is all I ever wanted to do.

Forever Young: Terrence Young By Cedric Nettles
What are you looking to do in the near future? My plans in the future is to continue doing music and creating platforms for young and upcoming artists. For 18 years I’ve created platforms for young musicians and most are now successful on their own. Some of my current band members were fans as kids. Music is the only universal language and it’s a spirit. I’m going to continue putting positive music vibes into the world.

Torrential Waters What if I told you that there were people around that can feel your pain, your guilt, your fears, and your hidden urges. Meet the twenty-something upstart Vance Waters. A young man that is coping with the pains of growing up with a virtuous heart yet tormented with a generational spiritual gift he inherited from his fathers before him. The notion of any person who is trying to maintain his spiritual walk can be hard. Yet Vance is trying to keep those virtues that guide him as well as his sanity as he is tested time and time again through trials. He treads through a world of the things he knows, and the things he wish he didn’t. Torrential Waters is a hard-hitting coming of age spiritual experience that pulls no punches. Whether if it is concerning conquering adversity, peer-pressure, bullying, relationships, and sexuality; Torrential Waters goes there with a ferocity of a storm that ravages your senses. This story dares to take you on a journey through the ‘spiritual’ eyes of a young man that has aspects of himself that is left wanting. Vance is not perfect, but if he does not cope with the pressures of life and his gift , he can become the perfect storm if he isn’t careful..

ROBERT GALINSKY By Cedric Nettles How did you get started in the arts? I got started through poetry, the beatniks. Late nights in 24 hour book stores and readings in a speak easy called The Wretched Garrett in New Haven and NYC. I found that the power of the spoken and written word moves people to change, to become irate, to fall in love. I never stopped performing and evolving from that point on and recently debuted as a playwright and actor Off Broadway at the Cherry Lane Theater.
What does the arts add to our society and how can it help us during this pandemic? Arts tell the truth and considering how many sources there are currently espousing the truth, art is the front runner in accuracy. Great art has no agenda but the truth from unique points of view. That educates and arms audiences with new information and inspiration to change the world. As for this pandemic? The necessity of art at this time is the counter balance to the flowing streams of propaganda and lies currently being sold on
13 What do you believe will be the new normal in our arts community during this health crises restrictions? I don’t think it’s as horrifying as many are making it out to be. We can continue our routines with a few new protocols: masks, gloves, distance. So the tools we have as artists now include those elements and if any one can manage these changes, it is certainly artists. The new normal will be a little more thoughtful, careful, and magical too. Could you talk about your work with youth in the prisons system? I love my work with youth in prison, the forgotten population. These are the kids that are the ‘best of the best’ because they have so much stacked against them and they continue to strive. I try to express to my students in prison, that they each have the opportunity to break old habits, learn new things, get space from the elements in their neighborhoods that drag them down and also the experience of being in jail/prison is an asset that not everyone has. There is room to put that experience into play and to not only make a living because of it, but to change others lives. How does teaching those young people in prison impact them when it is their time to return to society? With what they learn in my program, “Unscripted Leadership”, my students understand how to be creative in dire situations and how that relieves stress. They also gain an understanding of the professional world and the etiquette of that world. So when back in society, they have more knowledge about the landscape and they have more tools to operate with. They are high achievers and become even higher achievers as a result. Could you tell us what you have going on and share a further endeavor you are working in? Currently I am producing and hosting a live online talk show on Facebook called ‘10pm With Galinsky’ five nights a week. Great guests from all walks of life, in a thirty minute format, one on one. The past and present guests are at this link http://www.galinskycoaching.com/10pm. Also I am teaching children and adult theater classes online as well!
Dr. Holden, could you talk about what you went through in your journey to where you are now?

Overcoming homelessness, being uneducated and underemployed with six children was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. Honestly, had it not been for God’s mercy and grace I wouldn’t be here. Statistically at thirty five years old, there was no way I was supposed to make it out. Within the last twelve years I’ve gone from being homeless with six children in the streets of Atlanta to a Political candidate in the “2017” election, from a GED to a Doctorate degree in Leadership Studies and became a 12x published author. I’m now an Inspirational speaker, I recently

Meet Author Frances Dupree Frances Dupree is a thirty-two-year-old new author, motivational speaker. She is a wife, a
mother, and a woman that loves God. Frances has learned that her truth is worth telling to save souls. Throughout disobedience she
exposed herself to the dangers of domestic violence, depression, suicidal thoughts and
attempts, poverty, mental and physical abuse. But God never took his hands off her life and he blessed her latter years more than her former years.
The message that I would like to relate to my readers is that they are not alone, in their
experiences of the dark and mental battles. I have experienced depression, suicidal
thoughts, and attempts, poverty, unstableness, disobedience to God. God will never take his hand off of you, he will keep every promise
that he has made to you, and he hears every prayer and every crying out. Just hold on and don’t give up your breakthrough is closer than you think. On my Facebook page France Dupree every Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. pst I have transparent Tuesdays and I discuss many behind the scene topics that most don’t want to discuss and shed a different light on them. My book Marrying Outside of God’s Will is going to be published at the beginning of April. I am currently taking preorders the cost is $20 for an autograph copy to be mailed, first class.
