NON-ELECTRIC DETONATOR EXSANEL MS AND LP Non-electric initiation system, composed of a delay detonator, a signal transmitter shock tube and a plastic connector to ensure optimum contact between the shock tube and the detonating cord. The function of the delay detonator inside the drill is to start the bait or primer of the explosive charge column and delay the designated time. The function of the shock tube is to transmit the ignition signal that is initiated on the surface by means of the detonating cord to the detonator in the drill. It comprises three delay series according to the intended use: Long LP Period: Developed generally for the excavation of tunnels. The delay times between the intervals are generally longer, so that the confined rock is released and properly displaced and forms the free face for the exit of the other drills. Short MS Period: Delay system with short time intervals of 25 ms between each interval. Its use is generally intended for surface and underground blasting for blasting wide gaps. Universal Period: This series combines the long and short period series, to have more options in the planning of delays in blasting of greater amplitude.

Properties / Benefits A greater quantity of delays necessary for the design of sequence in a blast, it minimizes the vibrations. Greater control over the design of rock displacement (fly rock). A better delay time range necessary to obtain the required fragmentation. The non-electric detonator EXSANEL, provides a high level of security against initiation by static electricity, stray currents and radio frequency transmissions. Incorporates high tensile strength and high resistance to abrasion. Resistant to impact and shock. Minimum percentage of dispersion in the delay times. High resistance to breakdown or detachment of the tube and the detonator. High tensile strength of the tube. High water resistance. Sensitive to detonating cord and N°8 detonator. The detonator has a strength No. 12, to ensure the reliable initiation of baits and explosives sensitive to detonators.

EXSAPRIME

Pentolite Booster These are very safe high-power explosive charges intended for the initiation of blasting agents. Their plastic container protects the explosive mixture inside, reducing sensitivity to blows or friction, and giving it a better resistance to attack by the water which is present in some drillholes. It is the most efficient initiator of blasting agents and is especially recommended for medium and large diameters.

EXSACORD

Detonating Cord EXSACORD Detonating Cord is a blasting accessory consisting of a compact core of fine granulated penthrite PETN (Pentaeyrithritol tetranitrate) which is covered by various synthetic fibers and cotton thread. The external plastic cover varies in accordance with the type of cord, simple or reinforced, providing flexibility, tensile resistance and impermeability. It is generally activated using a blasting cap, electrical o non-electrical. The explosive core will detonate at a velocity of approximately 7,000 m/s, creating a shock wave capable of activating explosives susceptible to detonation. This blasting accessory has multiple applications in mining, quarrying, earthmoving and different civil engineering works. It works well in any type of blasting. Independent of the diameter and length of the drillhole.

SHOCK TUBE It’s a small diameter shock tube made with three layers of plastic surrounding a reactive mixture. When initiated, a shock wave propagates within it at a velocity of approximately 2,000 m/s, with a pressure and temperature sufficient to initiate the detonator through the delay element, without much damage to the exterior of the tube. It is designed to provide the maximum flexibility and choice of safe distance in the initiation of blasting in both underground and surface applications.

Recommendations and applications Do not stretch violently. In surface operations use connectors with low-potential detonators to avoid slicing cuts. Keep the ends of the shock tube sealed, and free of dirt and humidity, as if these enter the interior of the tube they may cause it to fail to function. The shock tube provides a high level of security against initiation by static electricity or radio frequency transmissions. The shock wave travels inside the tube without affecting the explosive characteristics of the explosive column of charge with which it is in direct contact.

EXSALINE Small diameter cartridge emulsion to be used in pre-splitting blasting in both surface and underground mining (long boreholes). The explosive mass is packaged in plastic sheet cartridges which are properly sealed at the sides by metal staples. A detonating cord is adhered length-wise to the whole cartridge and links multiple cartridges together. The detonating cord ensures the continuity of detonation across the whole explosive column inside the borehole.

SEMEXSA Dynamite developed to minimize the costs of crushing, and of those associated with carrying out secondary blasting in areas of medium to hard rock, by providing good fragmentation of the rock mass. It is ideal for charges in drillholes in difficult fractured ground thanks to its excellent sympathetic detonation characteristics and its sensitivity, which contribute to reducing the times for handling and loading the explosive.

Recommendations for use: Applicable for blasting in medium hard rock. Recommended in drillholes for start-up, production and draw cuts. To initiate use detonator N° 8 as a minimum.

Do not open or knead the cartridges. For safety considerations during handling and storage consult the EXSA safety sheet.

AMMONIUM NITRATE HIGH High-density Ammonium Nitrate with properties that allow it to release a large amount of energy and achieve excellent performance of the Quantex explosive mixture. The gassing process sensitizes the emulsion, lowering its density; that is why high-density Quantex Ammonium Nitrate provides more energy to the highly sensitive final mixture, minimizing blasting costs by providing excellent rock mass fragmentation.

Recommendations for use Only add 3% of diesel; preferably the mixture between QUANTEX Ammonium Nitrate and Diesel 2 should occur in a special module or specialized mixing truck. Avoid contact with water either in its Nitrate form or during the mixing procedure, since it may lead to prill decomposition. It is recommended for use in boreholes that exceed 4 inches in diameter, be it in mining or civil engineering projects. For security considerations about the safe handling and storage of this product, please consult with EXSA’s safety sheet.

AMMONIUM NITRATE LOW Thanks to its low density, allows the drill to be filled with less product minimizing loading costs, achieving good rock fragmentation due to its high detonation speed. Because of its porosity that allows an optimal absorption of oil, it is used mainly in the manufacture of ANFO and its use is recommended in large diameters in both mining and civil works.

Properties / Benefits By adding 6% of diesel B5 it becomes ANFO, preferably the mixture of ammonium nitrate and diesel B5 must be done by a special module or factory truck specially designed for this purpose It must not be in contact with water in its nitrate form or in its transformation to ANFO since it produces the decomposition of the prill For safety considerations in handling and storage, consult the Exsa safety sheet The porous ammonium nitrate plus 6% diesel B5, can be mixed with matrix emulsion to make heavy ANFO.
