ALQUERÍA EL GASCO Nuñomoral

Hurdanian treasure

A series of small meanders of the river Malvellido, winding through the rocks of the mountains, welcome us as we approach El Gasco, a picturesque town in the region of Las Hurdes, where we can still observe the typically wonderful constructions of Las Hurdes made of slate, so characteristic of the area.

Visit Casa Hurdana’s Interpretation Center, enjoy the route to Chorro de la Meancera and learn about the El Gasco Volcano Site of Scientific Interest.

DOLMEN DE LÁCARA La Nava de Santiago Prehistoric jewel

Located in a wonderful oak woodland, this dolmen is a megalithic burial monument, a collective corridor-type tomb dating from the late Neolithic period (4000- 3000 BC). It has surprising dimensions and is considered one of

the largest and best preserved in the Iberian Peninsula.

It was declared a Historic-Artistic Monument in 1931.

In spite of the despoilment suffered since its construction, this dolmen is in a very good state of conservation and during your visit you can sense the majesty that it once had.
