ARCH OF CÁPARRA Oliva de Plasencia Crossroads

This four-sided quadriphon arch is unique

in Spain. It was located in the centre of the Roman city of Capera, today Caparra, a city of great mercantile importance due to its location on the Vía de la Plata (Silver Route). The arch was surrounded by the main monuments, such as the baths, whose remains can still be seen today.

Thanks to the inscriptions on the arch we know that it was built at the end of the first century by Fidius Macer, to fulfil the wishes of his parents.
