Interesting Facts About Legendary Actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao The demise of Legendary actor, Natasamrat Akkineni Nageswara Rao saddened the film industry people. Though he lived for 91 years and enjoyed a complete life, everyone were eagerly waiting for his film with his son and grandson, Manam. But his sudden death has left everyone in shock. Several people from the film fraternity paid tribute to him in their own way and have remembered their relation with the legend. Below are a couple of interesting facts about ANR revealed by his son Nagarjuna and star director SS Rajamouli. Check them out.

"He was on the sets of Manam when he collapsed. When they opened him up he was in the 5th stage of cancer. Until then he was in the pink of health. The film spans a period from 1920 to 2013. My father plays a 90-year old. Except that incomplete song he completed all the shooting. Fifteen days after surgery he was at home in bed when he said, ‘Bring all the dubbing equipment and do my dubbing for Manam before I get worse, or you will get a mimicry artiste to do my dubbing. "On his 90th birthday in September, my father had called all his friends and family from India and abroad. He met all the 2,000 people. He made an hour-long speech, which we fortunately recorded. It's the only biographical lifesketch we have of him. We now intend to make it public". - Nagarjuna Akkineni "In 1974 ANR underwent a heart surgery. The doctors said his heart would hold good for another 14 years. Exactly, in 1988, he had another stroke. The doctors opened his heart and felt it was too weak to pump blood; They closed it without operating and said he had few days to live. ANR said to himself, “The doctors and the medication gave me 14 years. Now my will power shall give me another 14. He set his deadline as 2002. All his car numbers since then are 2002. His Will power sure did give him 14! In 2002, as he was contemplating on his next move, he saw a new car with number 9. The stubborn man said, “OK, another 9 years then!”. In 2011, the young old man got bored of playing with death and car numbers. He said to himself, “I’ll live as long as it takes.” And he did! Here is the man who not only lived on his terms, but negotiated with death under his own terms. !!!A complete man!! A complete life!!!". - SS Rajamouli

Worst make up malfunctions that can happen to you Make up is good if it is properly applied and in right amounts or else it can totally ruin your look. Check out on the top ten things you mustn't do while applying make up. 1. Choose the proper foundation. An improper shade of foundation may leave your jaw bone hanging differently from your face. This is like a litmus test that if you can see a line on your jaw, you have applied a wrong shade of foundation. Choose the proper shade of foundation according to the tone of your skin. 2. Eyebrow liners can sometimes be disastrous. The dark shade can look so dirty that all your make up will go in vain. Choose proper pencil with a light shade so that the eye brows don't look unnatural. after applying the pencil, brush them softly with a tapered brush so that it is distributed evenly. 3. The eye shadow must not look smudgy. Choose the correct complimenting shade. Apply with a flat brush first and then use a blending brush for a perfect look. 4. Be very careful with bronzer. Just rub the brush of the bronzer against your cheek. Put it in the high points of your face where light hits instantly. A little malfunction can look as if you have a bruise on your cheek. 5. Use a proper lip liner to make your lips look beautiful not kinky. Apply nude colored lip liner which goes well with any shade of lipstick. Blend it with a lip brush for a perfect look. 6. Be very careful with your eyebrows specially when you go for some bleaching. Bleached eyebrows can be disastrous. Apply a proper gel and color them appropriately so that they wont look bushy or unnatural. 7. Powdered eye shadows can make you look awful after a couple of hours when it falls under the eye and gets adhered at that portion. Always stick to liquid eye shadows. 8. Blend your face powder so that it wont look awkward. The reason we find patches of powder randomly at different locations on the face because of improper blending. Use a big fluffy brush to blend and apply face powder. 9. Use the concealer to just touch up and not make up. Let the foundation even up the tone of your skin and use the concealer to cover up some dark patches under your eye. 10. Too much make up can be the worst thing you can do to yourself. It gives a very alienated look. Choose the right shades and apply in right amounts.

Director of Samashti International School Mr. Abhay Mathur speaks about the school

Whilst high academic achievement is a priority, Samashti International School aims to create a 'community' of well-rounded individuals, where a spirit of cooperation and mutual respect exists amongst the students and teachers. The school organizes many activities throughout the year where qualities such as leadership and selfdiscipline are inculcated and there is an emphasis on the both intellectual and emotional growth. A variety of activities are offered as an integral part of the curriculum to provide each student an opportunity to develop a wholesome personality. Teachers, students and the community work together to make a significant contribution towards the ultimate goal of producing happy, enlightened and global-minded citizens.

22

What makes your school different from the other international school? We at Samashti International School have been given the mandate by the Board of Governors to create a “gurukul” where we equip students to lead a fulfilling and fruitful life. The infrastructure that surrounds you and the effort to give a rich and varied curriculum speak volumes of the commitment we collectively share towards our young future leaders. What do you think about the schools of 21st century? Schools of the 21st century like Samashti International School have consciously chosen to train students for marathons… not sprints! Life is long, complex and requires critical thinking alongside academic excellence. In the information age students need to learn to sieve the wheat from the chaff. Curriculum assessment needs to help students ask the right questions and be prepared to answer not by habit or dogma but through intellectual insight. In the past it was tempting for us in school

education to gear our curriculum towards preparing sprinters in the game of life. Sprinters were exhilarating, and in an impatient world, more exciting to watch! But the tragedy was they also burnt out faster and didn’t enjoy the view or help others while running due to a single-minded focus on the rope 200m ahead. The new schools will not repeat that mistake. What are the future plans for the school? In the next academic year under the guidance of Principal Ms.Neeraja Reddy you will see that the school add Grade 8 and another 8 skill periods including scouts and guides, self-defence, yoga, instrumental, music etc on top of the existing opportunities. We shall be recruiting additional teaching staff, skill coaches and activate the wonderful sports center. It is indeed a privilege for me as a Director be part of this explosive and yet meaningful growth. Our existing staff has over the past year taken part in almost 15 hours of additional professional development.

Trendy, Yet Traditional Hyderabad is no less in the number of fashionistas and people here are up to date in following the latest fashion trends. But in whichever field I am, I want to be a successful individual and have my own identity", she said. Several models walked the ramp and Karishma Kapoor, who is the national wide Brand Ambassador for Neerus, was the show stopper.

Neerus is one of the very few successful Indian brands in the market today. Where did all this begin?

What does Neerus have to cater to the customers of different age groups and categories?

Neerus is one of the oldest player in the retail market and its been more than four decades. We started off in 1971 with tailoring and complicated embroidery designs. Then in 1979, we started our first retail outlet and started to sell ready made salwaar kameez and exclusive ladies wear. Later we also started manufacturing our own fabrics and textiles and distributing them to various other retail outlets. That is how we started and here we are now.

Neerus has everything to offer for women. We have designs for women of all ages. We specialize in Bridal wear, exclusive party wear, wedding wear, office formals, casual cotton and many such things which are most sought after by our customers. We also have this brand called Little Neerus which has designs for children below 15 years.

How important is celebrity endorsement to boost up sales? Why have you chosen Karishma Kapoor as your Brand Ambassador? Neerus always had good market and is almost a household name for all Hyderabadis. But celebrities add an extra value to he brand. After a lot of options, we have zeroed on Karishma Kapoor. The people of the country love her for her traditional looks and charm. She is definitely an asset to our brand.

With the fashion trends changing very rapidly, how are you keeping your self up todate to serve your customers? The best thing about Neerus is that we have specialized clothes for everyone and for every occasion. The designs of Lehengas, Ghagras, Sarees, Suits, etc are very special and one of their kind. We also choose our handlooms very cautiosly and the best of the lot are picked for us. We design our ethnic wear keeping in mind the changing trends and that is our unique point.

What are your plans to expand Neerus across India? We do have plans of expanding our business but primarily in Southern part of India and particularly in Andhra Pradesh. We are coming up with a couple of new outlets in the twin cities and we are also launching a showroom at the domestic lounge of the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. We are also looking to launch outlets in Chennai and Bangalore in Franchise module and would provide any franchise options across the country.

"The best thing about Neerus is that we have specialized clothes for everyone and for every occasion. The designs of Lehengas, Ghagras, Sarees, Suits, etc are very special and one of their kind". 25

The Blissful Home Of Banjara Hills

Captain Kishen and Jyothi Kishan 26

Thanks to the real estate boom since the past 10 years, the land prices in the city have rocketed to insane heights. And everyone who has a considerable amount land in any prime area of the city have given their land for development. All these multi-stored buildings, shopping malls, and apartments we see today were once beautiful independent houses with full greenery and ethnic look. Imagine the kind of Hyderabad showed in the films in the 70s and 80s. Independent houses, lush green parks by the sideways, low pollution, low traffic and not to forget the beautiful constructions by the Nizams and ancient Hyderabad people. Finding such houses is a rare scene now in Hyderabad.

But Captain Kishen, who was a pilot and now heading the Ksheeraabd Constructions Private Limited, has not done the same. Having almost half an acre on Banjara Hills Road No. 1, which is the most costliest area in the whole state, decided to have it and build a dream house and so he did. On entrance, we find a royal gate after which there is almost 200 yards of lush green garden. By the sides, there are water bodies and rock formations. A fountain has been set up artificially to let the water in motion. The entire water body around the house has more than 200 varieties of fish. On a corner, there are a couple of dogs named Butter (Labrador) and Wafer

(German Shepard), and they constantly keep greeting the visitors. On entering the house, there is a big aquarium with all sorts of fish. A special mention about the furniture and interiors has to be made. The grand 10 seater dining table at the center and a beautiful statue of lord Krishna at one side give a traditional vibe. But that is not all. The captain's wife Mrs. Jyothi Kishen is a devotee of Lord Vishnu and has arranged a separate Puja room for herself. It has this Akhanda Jyothi which keeps glowing 24/7. With an inbuilt lift, A grand office in the cellar, a home theater room with an Over Head Projector and a screen, 9 bedrooms with attached bathrooms and more than 12 servants working to maintain the house, it gives the feel of a Sooraj Bharjatiya movie. Mrs Jyothi Kishen says that mere making money is not sufficient when there is no one in life to share happiness. So the whole family lives in one house jointly. Their son Kalyan is the Managing Director at KCPL and their daughter Aishwarya is the Managing Director of Ksheeraavali diamonds, a jewellery retail store in Hyderabad. The way these people live together, share responsibilities to maintain the house and run the businesses is absolutely inspiring.

The Budding Business Of Restaurants and Coffee Lounges

Hyderabad is one place where the market for restaurants and coffee shops is enormous. Starting from small road side chai points, to irani cafes, to coffee lounges, to restaurants, to buffets and fine dining, there is room for everything. The basic trait of Hyderabadis is to sit and chat for hours together and these coffee joints at various nook and corners of the city serve the purpose. Venture capitalists and investors have seen this a potential market and have invested in various coffee shops and restaurants in the city. Merely investing in this business is not enough. One has to constantly keep monitoring certain things and take several important points into consideration before investing. You also have to choose the right place, right cuisine, proper chefs, and good servicemen. Hence it has now become a trend to invest in coffee shops, eateries, restaurants and bakeries. People are quitting big jobs and are venturing into this business. Specially in a place like Hyderabad, there is a huge market for these eateries. The exponential rise in the number of restaurants in the past two years is a standing testimony to this. So this special feature is about some restaurants and people who ventured into the business quitting on their profession. These are called the passionate hoteliers and are now budding in this field. Have a look.!

The Creative Hotelier: Ulavacharu

“Several friends and well wishers of mine from the film business frequently visit our restaurant and this by itself is a huge branding for us. Kuchipudi Venkat

His passion towards cinema made him a film maker and his love to host has made him a hotelier. Kuchipudi Venkat's Ulavachaaru is the new destination for the authentic food lovers of Hyderabad, Primely located at Jubilee Hills. Ulavachaaru offers a wide variety of Indian and more specifically, Andhra cuisine. He calls himself a passionate film maker and a food enthusiast who loves to be a host. Recalling how he got into the restaurant business, "It almost happened accidentally. While I was into films, I used to host a lot of friends at my place and cook variety of foods for them. From that I sensed that I can be a good in the Restaurant business and had started this with some of my friends. Vinay Reddy is a businessman. Ravi Raju is into the catering business and Chef Yadagiri has more than 12 years of experience. Along with monetary investment, we also invested quality time in the business and that is the reason why within just six months, the restaurant is running successfully and is most of the time packed with food lovers. All we try to do here is to make the guests feel home like, both in terms of food and service", said Mr Venkat. The USP of Ulavachaaru, Mr Venkat says, is Raju Gari Kodi Pulav. The name has nothing to do with the preparation of the dish and he said it was named so only to add the Royalness to the dish. "It is undoubtedly a different experiment and the USP of Ulavachaaru. My friends say that I am good at naming things and I named it only to make it feel royal." There are also a lots of other foods like Ragi Sangati, Natu Kodi Pulusu, and a whole lot of Andhra foods that are served. He said that the reason to choose this cuisine is because he had the grip on the dishes made and can experiment. "Nowadays, we are making dishes like Paneer Masala and Dal Makhni at home and have almost forgot some of our native dishes which our

elders used to eat. Hence, people are in a lookout to eat such foods and we are here to offer", said Mr. Venkat. Good music always compliments a nice meal and Ulavachaaru has just what all the costumers want. The never ending list of songs by legendary composer Ilayaraja keep playing at the restaurant and only for the experience of listening to the songs and having home like food, Ulavachaaru is worth a visit. "Anybody who grew up in the 70s or 80s will definitely connect to Ilayaraja's songs and personally I am a huge fan of Ilayaraja. He has done over 800 films and a lifetime is not sufficient to relish his songs. I thought that it might add to the ambiance of the restaurant and have decided that there will always be Ilayaraja songs playing in the restaurant", said Mr Venkat. Did being in the film business help bring some initial costumers? He says yes. "Definitely, being from the film industry is a big advantage for me. Several friends and well wishers of mine from the film business frequently visit our restaurant and this by itself is a huge branding for us. Therefore, we don’t go for the conventional marketing and advertise". About his plans of expanding the business, "As of now, we have no plans to expand the business and are concentrating on how better we can serve to our guests at Ulavachaaru. But I, along with another friend Srinivas Reddy, who is a businessman, are starting a highend coffee shop and party place called WAK(Weekends At Kuchipudi). Ulavachaaru is definitely one of its kind restaurant and the overall experience of having a meal at this place is an absolute bliss. Do find time and go to this place to relish on some really authentic Andhra cuisine and trust us, you will not be disappointed.

Steaming Food and Privacy:Steamz Now there are many coffeehouses in and around film nagar where all the filmy folk gather for various meetings, script discussions, casual hangouts etc. But are they enough? Is there room for more? Ask Madhu and Dhanraj the same, and they will say yes.! Just a month old restaurant owned by the duo, named Steamz, is doing pretty well in the suburbs of film nagar. When asked about how did they land up in this business, “We were always interested in this business. In fact Madhu already owns a couple of restaurants. So we took his advice for this. I am an MBA graduate and know how the market functions. So we thought that our combination would be bombastic and went forward with this project”, quipped Dhanraj. The restaurant mainly offers a wide range of Italian cuisine. It specializes in pizzas and pastas. “Our main target are the filmy crowd and the elite audience. Since these people do not have proper privacy in other regular coffee shops, they often visit us and spend maximum time. We also serve them with our best dishes and drinks. We have a roof top garden restaurant, a Private Dining Room and lots of such amenities to cater to the elite folk. We are just one month old and are hoping to do good business”, said Madhu, expressing his confidence over the project. Madhu also expressed his desire to rent his place for film shootings. “Nowadays in films, a coffee shop scene has become almost a cliche and any semi urban film has a scene in which a group of friends hang out in coffee shops. So we are also inclined to rent our place for shootings but will closely keep a watch on whether they are misutilizing our place”, said Madhu. So if you are craving for some good Italian cuisine, peaceful ambiance, Steamz at film nagar is the place for you.

“Our main target are the filmy crowd and the elite audience. Since these people do not have proper privacy in other regular coffee shops, they often visit us and spend maximum time”.

Friends Turned Business Partners.:Blue bottle cafe Here is another group of people, who are passionate about food. When Ajay, along with his friends and family(Akshata, Mohit, Suchitra, Suresh) has decided to start his own restaurant, there was encouragement and discouragement from all quarters. But they ignored the latter and went on to start Blue Bottle Cafe at Madhapur, which is now doing good business. “We always thought about starting and owning our own restaurant. Last year, these thoughts started to evolve into images of us being the content restaurant owners and serving regular great coffee and food in a great atmosphere wherein customers will be regulars and will make this café a piece of their lives. It was a calling; we were consumed with making this happen. Everything we did, said and thought evolved around opening a café - restaurant. We talked about it with our friends and family. Half of them were excited and their support for us was encouraging. The other half thought we are nuts. We never listened to the latter half. At his point, we jumped and opened a café”, quips Ajay. Ajay also believes that finding a proper place for a business is the most important thing and he has taken almost 6 months to look for a place for their restaurant. “People in Hyderabad have been getting into café for years so we were confident there would be a market but the location had to be right. Finding the best location for the café wasn’t easy, in fact, it was probably the hardest thing to do. We liked Banjara Hills and found a place there but that fell through. Then it came to us – ‘Madhapur’ – where our restaurant idea would work better anyway because it already had a large working population. Soon we found the perfect site, contacted the landlord and agreed a deal”, Ajay said.

We talked about it with our friends and family. Half of them were excited and their support for us was encouraging. The other half thought we are nuts. We never listened to the latter half.

The mood and ambiance of a restaurant is one most important thing which brings back customers again and again. Blue Bottle also has furnishings in white and blue combination which looks the best. “We wanted the design of our café to look and feel amazing for both our customers and ourselves. After countless late nights of finding inspiration and putting images we finally end up with a concept and a design”, he says. Ajay says that the success mantra of Blue Bottle is that they are friendly and honest and the place has a good atmosphere. “The food is good too. Everything is fresh — our food is prepared fresh daily with only the finest ingredients. Fine culture of dining in our cafe is not merely staged; it is lived and breathed by the people who work here. We see quality and firstclass service as a vocation and passion, everyday!”, Said Ajay, before he signed off.

“Our Watermelon Martini is hands down the best drink I have tasted in my life. The mutton chops we serve are also very much tasty and are the customer’s favorite. We hired our chef from Singapore after trying for almost 6 months.

Top Notch Wine and Dine :Moshpit Moshpit, as termed by Abhinand, an MBBS graduate and one of its partner, is a one of its kind leisure bar and kitchen in the town. This 40 days old restaurant is already drawing good crowds. This is a perfect destination for people who seek to just chill and chat over some absolutely crazy cocktails and delicious food. When asked about how this all started, "I always wanted to get into the service industry. My partners Pramod and Raju, who are my long time friends are also interested in this. So we stuck a common note somewhere and started. Pramod had the experience in this field as he owns Racer's Edge 1,2 and Jubilee Hills Wine Spot. So all three of us ventured together. We had a good rapport with the management and owners of Rain and this is the reason why, when they offered their place, we readily took it. There were many apprehensions about this place as many restaurants started here and were shut down incurring huge losses. But we believed that if we served the best of food and drinks, we would be a huge success. And the crowd of Hyderabad proved us right as within just 40 days, we are doing pretty good business". Moshpit also offers a wide variety of Pan Asian cuisine and some customized cocktails and mock-tails. "Our Watermelon Martini is hands down the best drink I have tasted in my life. The mutton chops we serve are also very much tasty and are the customer's favorite. We hired our chef from Singapore after trying for almost 6 months. We have always ensured that we don't serve any frozen food. Everything we serve is fresh out of the pan or oven. We also took care that the ambiance is also not too loud. As in the name, we called it leisure bar and wanted it to be so. The music levels are also very mild except if there is some party. So it is basically meant to have a nice conversation over some drinks. Our interior design is done by Jagan and we asked him for a European kind of feel. The kind of work he delivered was amazing and we had no second thoughts. We saw, we liked and we took. So for all those who want to trip on some good view, good food and excellently blended cocktails, Moshpit is the pace for you. Do check this out.!

They had respectable jobs at multinational companies with six digit salaries and luxurious life style. But they were not satisfied with what they were doing. So one fine day, they decided to quit their jobs and venture into business. After a lot of brainstorming regarding what are the prospective businesses for their investment, they zeroed on one option. They decided to start a coffee shop. That is what gave birth to the Sky Park cafe. They found a location at Banjara Hills Road No. 12, where there is no other coffee shop in the near vicinity. Shahzoor Ali says that the cafe is 2 years old and is running well. “We have seen potential in this business. Hyderabad is one place where there is always room for food business. So we were very sure that the venture will be a success”, he said. When asked about the USP of his restaurant, “Well we have many features which make us stand out from other cafe’s in the city. Our Chicken Shawarma is the best in the city. We also have Wi-fi facility for our customers and we have a digital menu. We give menu in tablets and not on paper”, says Mr Ali. Valentine’s Day Special Story This article is for those willing to admit (even if only to themselves) that they want the love and approval of people in their lives. You may claim out loud that you don’t need the love and approval of others. You may be ashamed of secretly wanting it, and work hard to heal yourself of this desire. You may sometimes realize your faulty logic, but in your most honest moments, you admit there are times you wish for it. You want your spouse, your partner, or your family members to accept you for who you are. You want your students, colleagues, clients, or boss to recognize your strengths and think you’re pretty amazing. You want your children to appreciate all you’ve done for them and love you for doing the best you could. If you want some of these things, or something similar, at least some of the time, here's an easy way to get them: Do just three things:

2. Love yourself.

I know you’ve heard this one before. I know you know deep down that self-love trumps getting the love and approval of someone else by far. But there are moments when you forget this, or you’re just not buying it. I want to talk to you in THOSE moments: Make a list of what you love about others. Why are they amazing? Why do you admire them? Write the love letter of your life to someone you think is just totally awesome. Then … admit this: You cannot recognize something you don’t have. Everyone in your world is a reflection of you. Sit quietly until you can admit that YOU are just as amazing. Don’t be cavalier about it. Be real. Find examples and prove it to yourself. Sit until you feel the spark of willingness to admit that you have the qualities you love and admire in others. So of course you would love yourself. This doesn’t mean you have to be perfect. How many people do you love who aren’t always living as the highest version of themselves? If you can love them, you can love you. So stop making such a big deal about your supposed mistakes or shortcomings. Really, just stop.

3. Let them love you.

Yes, if you want someone to love you, you have to let them. Love them, love yourself

enough to know you are worthy, and then be completely vulnerable. Without those things, they can love you more than anything on earth and you won’t feel it. Or trust it. Also, let them love you in unconscious ways. You know how poorly you sometimes treat the people you love the most? It’s because deep down you trust them enough to keep loving you, even at your worst. Sometimes we show how much we love someone by trusting that they will love us even at our worst. I’m not advocating that this is ideal, but it definitely happens. And if you can’t help doing this, don’t expect the people you love to be able to help it either. Let them love you by not being perfect or by not always knowing the right thing to do or say. Because this is their vulnerability talking, this is them showing you their dark side and asking you to love them anyway. If you tap into your limitless capacity to love others unconditionally; if you love yourself because you are a real, authentic, perfectly imperfect human being with a heart of gold; and if you allow yourself to be loved by people however they know how to love you … then you will feel love coming at you from every direction

1. Love them first.

Admit it. How much are you judging them? How much do you want them to be different from the way they are? If you want to feel loved, you have to LOVE. And you have to love honestly, humbly, and fully (even when they don’t do something the way you would). There are so many things you could find to love about every person you come into contact with, but if you aren’t feeling loved, it's in large part because you aren’t looking for what you love about others. Don’t use this as a reason to think you’re a failure. If you blame yourself or beat yourself up for your shortcomings, that’s not finding things to love about others. Just find things to love about others. That’s it.

Charminar has 45 prayer spaces and a mosque in it. Visitors can view the architectural splendour inside the Charminar. The monument is illuminated in the evenings and a pedestrianisation project around the monument is under implementation.
